We want to build a pool in our new Jumeirah Park villa. Any recommendation of good contractors (keeping schedule, quality, price...) will be appreciated.

I dont usually comment on schools here since it is a sensitive subject !! but travis obviously you dont have any kids in Dubai British School so you arent exactly the best source... my kids do attend DBS and have since the beginning of the school. My oldest is finishing primary this year. I have been very happy with their primary years at DBS. The strenght of the school is its size. Since it is a small school (3 classes per age group), the teachers know the kids very well, any problem is dealt with quickly and efficiently. The children in each year group mix well as they are only 70 or so per year. Homework is regular but not too much. When children need extra help, it is given. when children need to be challenged more, they are taken care of as well. So how about secondary? well my first choice is DC for the reasons everyone agrees on but my second choice is DBS. If he can get in DC, then why not give him the possiblity to study in a school that has such a reputation but either then that I will happily see my child go through DBS in secondary. The head of school and the head of secondary are brilliant, the secondary kids are happy and most of my son's classmates are staying on at DBS for year 7. So as a parent of DBS kids, I strongly recommend it.

I belong to a cooking club. We are about 10 to 14 ladies who meet once a month. We are about 9 different nationalities. We take turn hosting a morning. The one hosting will prepare recipes from her own country. We will all cook together , a starter, main and desert andthen seat down and have lunch. It's great fun and a lovely way to make friends. We start around 9am and usually are finished by 1h30pm to pick up our children from school.

To buy or rent... For me there is no doubt, if you are here for more then 3/4 years its better to buy then rent. If we rent a 4 bed villa at 230K, that is 920k in 4 years !! best to put it in your own property. We are looking into buying in Jumeirah Park but I think the prices are way to high. There are so many available, the prices will go down. We will wait for a good deal.

There will be a ramp. It's a lot thanks to the hard work of DBS who requested this bridge for the safety of the students.

February 2006. It rained two days straight. Meadows drive was so flooded with all cars which were not 4x4 stuck with water halfway up in the roundabouts. School closed and houses flooded. Never saw anything like it since.

Thanks for your replies. We have had visits from Amlak looking for him but they never told us he defaulted. We just know. I can't see the bank telling us to go because in order to repossess they need a court order and for that they need the poa of the defaulters. I have heard that you can deposit a cheque at rera to the name of the owner. But not sure. Guess I ll have to go to rera and ask. The landlord has disappeared ten months ago now. In two. In two month time our lease is up but we think we are allowed one more year as per law 26, we just dont know who to pay the cheque to ! edited by LASSIE on 16/01/2012

I ve had it for a few years and it's mostly start of the night , on the sofa or in bed. When I fall asleep, it never wakes me up. Anyway I asked my husband to manage my feet and it worked really well. Didn't have the RLS for a week. The week after I went to feet first in Ibn Battuta and had an hour long feet massage and didn't get for a week again. It's brilliant. So I guess I'm signing up for feet massages now regularly. It is a blood circulation problem I think that is probably why it helps. Should have thought about it years ago !

If you can stay, the hospital gives you a birth certificate. Then you have to do a few formalities to get the birth certificate registered in the different ministries. Buy the Explorer, it explains the procedure well.

As far as i know, you Will have problems having a baby on a visit visa unless it's an emergency. I would leave the country in a hurry and have your baby in your home country. Are you being followed here in a hospital ?
