Find a picture of a dress you like, then go to Satwa and find fabric you like, then go to City Land Tailors (between Deepa's and Royals in the alleyway) and they will take your measurements and make it for you way less than you would pay for it in a store. I do this for all my flowy skirts and dresses and they always come out amazing! I took my family to do this as well. And my boyfriend had a custom made suit done for like 1/10th of what it would have cost him to do this back home in the US.

He uses Dysport or Allergan based on your preference. It's 138aed per little poke site. Not per syringe. So if I had four spots per eye that he would poke then it would be 8 sites. So 8 x 138.

Muji West Elm I actually don't know how expensive these two places are comparatively, but I know that I love walking around in them even when I don't need anything bc they have great stuff. I did my bedroom and bath from here when I first moved to Dubai. Both on the GF of the Dubai mall

Check out Wags and Purrs on FB. Its a foster group I am a part of that is run out of Abu Dhabi. The woman who runs it is the most selfless person in Dubai when it comes to caring for stray cats. I currently foster one and in the beginning when I couldn't afford to help other than by providing my apt, the lady would have her driver send over food and litter every few weeks. When I became more financially independent I began paying for all of that stuff b/c its such a small expense. I am onto my fifth foster cat at the moment and all of the others have found wonderful homes. This group doesn't even put down strays who have been run over by cars. It's all a matter of finding places for them to stay. I know it might seem like a stretch to some people, but open up your home to a needy animal and you will feel so good about it!! So, she might not have space or a solution, but I am willing to bet that she will help you out in some way or another.

You could look into Playa del Carmen and/or Cozumel. They are just an hour or so away from Cancun but are much quieter and more beautiful. Then you can always visit Cancun one day. My family used to go there every year for New Years and it was absolute paradise. The scuba diving in Cozumel is world famous. I have never been to Hawaii.

I have a group of friends coming to visit in November and we wanted to do a bit of off roading and some camping. Does anybody know where I can get a good price for a rental car for 6 people? Any suggestions for camping? I have done a bit, but I am always interested to hear about any and all new areas to explore.

Go see Dr. Abdullah at Eternity Medicine Institute. He isn't here right now (I wanted to get mine done this week sadly) but will be back in a week. He is the best at making mine look super natural. I have made the permanent switch from Dr. Khan to Dr. Abdullah. Plus he is much more available because he is new here and hasn't gotten his name out there yet. He also did some botox for my mom and she looks fab. It was 138 aed per site I think? You can look him up on facebook, or one of these websites: cosmeticsurgeonuae.com or www.eternitymedicine.com/

I went this last weekend with a group of 11. Everybody really enjoyed it. The Animal Wildlife Center is the only part we were able to get to (because of time constraints) but even that was well worth 15 aed. Its all inside so its a good activity for when its really hot. I am definitely going to go back and really take my time there one of these days.

Just had my nose done in June and am exstatic about the results. It was my first rhinoplasty so I looked around and chatted with a bunch of doctors before settling with Dr. Ahmed Abdullah. He went to one of the best schools in the US for medical school, and it really shows. I had broken my nose playing soccer in the US and had quite a hump. My septum was slightly deviated but I didn't have too many breathing problems. He is the nicest guy, very easy going, but very professional. He apparently specializes in revision rhinoplasties (if he could, that would be the only thing he ever does, but since he just started his clinic in Dubai, he doesn't get enough patients to be so picky yet). Before surgery I sat down with his assistant and had my face simulated in 3D so I could see what he thought he could make it look like. I got to give suggestions and he told me what he recommended. I had the operation done at American Academy where I was extremely comfortable, I felt no pain at any moment before or after surgery. My nose healed wonderfully, it looks incredible, and the whole thing was just so easy. You can find info on him at cosmeticsurgeonuae.com or the Eternity Medicine Institute website http://eternitymedicine.com/ I also saw Mr. Khan and based on your experience as well, I think he just wants all the easy surgeries. Dr. Abdullah wants the tough ones!

I go to the Sephora at the Dubai mall for skincare products and if a specific guy who works for Clarins is around he gives the best free facials for acne and skincare in general. He is darker and has a big afro. He is usually around early evening/night. I also have been using Lexli skincare for a while now and love it. The doctor who formulated it lives and works in Dubai part time at Eternity Medicine Institute (Dr. Ahmed Abdullah) and part time in the US. There is an acne kit that I didn't really get into in the beginning but when I got more consistent about it, it was the only thing that really worked. He wrote a book about skin care called, Simple Skincare, Beautiful Skin that you can check out and read about why exactly this stuff works. Its all aloe based instead of water based which is the key I guess.

My boyfriend and I traveled around Sri Lanka for 5 days. Since we had such little time we focused on the cultural stuff and didn't get to any of the beaches. You have more time so I suggest you do both. We found an incredible driver who took us around and planned everything out ahead of time with us including accommodations and meals. Here is his email: [email protected] Here are the big sites we were able to fit in: -Anuradhapura - one of the ancient capital cities -Polonnuruwa - the other ancient capital city -Minneriya National Park - big park with lots of elephants! (we didn't make it to Pinewalla elephant orphanage but I suggest you add that in as well) -Kandy - big city in central province (see Temple of the Tooth for sure) -Sigiriya Rock Fortress - enormous rock in the jungle that was part of ancient civilization... a true must see -Dambulla Caves - incredible statues and temples of Buddhism carved right out of the rock in the cave! -Nuwara Eliya - historic tea factory and plantation in south (originally built by the British over 100 years ago!) In between all of the big sites we did a lot of little museums as well as some Ayurveda, an elephant ride, a boat ride.... It was a packed few days but we loved everything we did! If you want to avoid some of the touristy stuff be sure to mention that. We were taken to a gem museum which was just a trap to buy gems, and a spice garden where you are pushed into buying herbal remedies. Other than that I suggest you let the guide take you to all of their usual spots and you will have a wonderful experience. Its very common to hire a driver in Sri Lanka so definitely look into that.

My mom used to make ants on a log for me. Just to give you an idea for something that doesn't have meat in it but will still provide your kids with some protein. Its a celery stalk with peanut butter (or almond butter or sunflower or whatever you want) smeared down the middle and then you put raisins on top (the ants). Its a cute, healthy snack and its so good!

So are you looking for botox and fillers or fat transfer? What is the procedure exactly? Dr. Ahmed Abdullah is the new medical director at Eternity Medicine Institute (first saw him at American Academy in healthcare city) and he does fat transfers for tear troughs and under the eye. He was trained in the US and is just started up out here. He did my nose about a month ago and I was considering facial fat transfer but decided to just do one thing at a time for financial reasons. Of all the plastic surgeons I talked to when looking for the right guy, he seemed like the most practiced, knowledgeable and all around best doctor.

A few of the girls in my office use this guy named Riad Haddad. I met him the other day and he is a super friendly guy. You can whatsapp him a picture of the ring you want and he can make it for you. Or just give him a call and he can tell you more. I don't know how his quality or prices relate to others, but everybody in the office gives him rave reviews. his number is 0501445444

Sadly a lot of it probably has to do with your genetics. Have you had your hormone levels and all of that checked out? I know you said you were taking something for your thyroid. I would recommend getting some lab work done and having someone check your levels, and just how your body generally functions. Most of the time they can pinpoint the reason behind the weight gain and why its so hard to lose weight. Look for an age management place. I go to Eternity Medical Institute for cosmetic stuff but have a few friends who have been going there for bloodwork, body scans and weight management. One of them lost like 40 lbs in 6 months on the Paleo diet and some hormones and supplements. I would bet they could come up with a better solution that is more of a natural approach. Its worth a shot. Humans are not made to digest all of those things that came around in the agricultural revolution. If its a cholesterol problem, 85% of that comes from our genes (thanks mom and dad). The other 15% is purely based on how much glucose (sugar) we intake. Glucose even from unexpecting things like rice, corn, potatoes, bread (even whole wheat bread is bad for your cholesterol), low fat milk, beer...etc. effects our cholesterol. I see what you mean DesertRose, if you know that surgery is something you may want that probably means you have tried everything else. Not having much insight into the procedures you initially asked about Vintaysiya, I can only tell you about what I have seen work well for others who were in a pretty "desperate to lose weight" point in their lives too. Hope that helps. Do what is right for you and nobody can tell you otherwise!

Is this furniture specifically for animals? Wags and Purrs in an awesome animal charity. The lady who runs it is one of the the most selfless people I have met. I am sure she could use all the help she could get although I am not sure if she has one specific shelter location where she would put a bunch of furniture. Look them up on facebook and ask her. She is really good at getting back to any comments and might have some good ideas for you.

Unfortunately there isn't really a permanent solution for wrinkles unless you want to pay for a facelift ; ) Assuming that you don't, I agree with the others that if you are healthy, your skin will be healthy. Sunscreen is a must! If it's too late for all of that, then I would try Lexli products. They are high grade aloe products. Theres a whole bunch of different ones so you would have to read about which ones you think would benefit you the most. I have been using the "Aloe Glyc" and "Night Moisturizer" for a few months now and my skin really looks a lot better. (I am fair - blue eyes, blond hair) The sun damage looks better, my acne is better, the overall tone is just a lot better. It's kind of tingly the first few weeks and I even thought it made my skin a bit worse right off the bat so I thought about ditching it, but if you are consistent it pays off. The guy who formulated them is from the US (well from Pakistan originally) and just opened up his plastic surgery practice here in Dubai. I am not sure if he sells them here or not yet. I get them online. His name is Dr. Ahmed Abdullah and he is at Eternity Medicine Institute. I have seen him for a number of things since moving here. Super friendly guy.

I went to Al Mankhool on July 2nd and was able to get the Yellow Fever vaccine. I recommend you get there right at 9 when it opens. Its not the most organized system so I can't even imagine how it gets when its super crowded. I got there at like 8:45 and had to wait outside the gait until they opened, but hey, I was the first to get my vaccines that day. Make sure you bring cash because they don't accept card and there is no ATM in the building!
