Please google Dr Ritu Khare. I did hemorrhoids surgery with her 10 years ago with very good results and little pain after the surgery. It was in Abu Dhabi but I believe she works in either Sharjah or Dubai too (in addition to Abu Dhabi). I also wanted a female surgeon and spent a lot of time looking for one so could relate to your post. Best wishes!

Dr. Foroozan Khezri in Medcare. She came highly recommended by different people when I was looking for a urologist in Dubai. Unfortunately didn't have the chance to actually see her as I had to travel on short notice and ended seeing a doctor back home. But a lot of my friends still see her and are happy. Edited to add, I hope you get your daughter's issue sorted.

I am re-opening this thread again. My son needs an operation and for insurance reasons can't do it at Dr Muhi. Has Anyone tried Dr Hussein for general anaesthesia? I also got Dr Hussam (i guess) at the Emirates French Hospital recommended by a number of people. Any reviews? TIA

One more question. If hubby has valid residence visa, do we have to provide a letter from work too? ETA: is it wise to ACCEPT one place at BSAK if you are applying for 2 siblings? edited by Leen on 15/01/2012

reem is not the island directly behind ad mall that is a different one. to get to reem easily then use the new bridge up at junction 9st off salam st. its still a building site but you can drive over there. Thank you busy bee. I am looking in google maps and i can see 2 bridges, one is the extension of the 11th and one on the 9th. However, as far as i know, the 9th (marine gate?) has a dead end that directs you left to a traffic signal to which AD mall and the new bridge is to your right :S am i making sense?

Had the drip all through my pregnancy, horrible, horrible, horrible. The bad news that it is still there 2 months after. However, it's more tolerable now since the nausea is gone. Try a saline nasal spray (cheapest and best as recommended by my Dr was ocean's spray). U can use it as many times as u wish. It'll loosen up the mucous so u can blow it out instead of it going back to your throat. Best wishes..

Sorry if I got ur name wrong! u know who u r :) WiiFit Plus rocks! I been using it for 3 days now, about an hour to hour and half each day, and have lost 900gms. Not bad for a start huh? Of course, its only salads at night. It weighs u everyday and give u a graph of how ur progressing, how many calories u burnt, etc Wii Fit Pls has Yoga, Aerobics, Strngth training, Balance training, and some games. The games are kinda silly, but fun.. and u get calories burnt. If u cheat, it knows and u dont get burnt calories. U can make your own routine with yoga and strength training and mix them also. It wont let u go past the beginners stage until its satisfied, so even tho your muscles ache the first couple of days, its not like u r exhausted. Of course, I dont think only FitPlus is enough. I plan to get a couple more workout CDs for sure. I need to lose some more weight faster. Oh and if u do any excercise outside of wiifitplus, u can add that and get ur calories for that. But on the whole, I think its excellent. Hey Shaf, update us on the Wii fit. Is it *still* excellent or have u lost the enthusiasm? :) I bought one today but didnt have the time to open it.

I have an HSBC debit card and get an SMS every time its used. Not long ago I went to Sharif at Times Square and purchased an item for 95 AED. I'm standing at the checkout and get an SMS that 950 AED has come out of my acct. The clerk then passes me the slip to sign for 95 - I said but you just took 950 out of my acct - where's that slip? "Oh no, Madam, it didn't go through, I made a mistake and cancelled it". After a brief argument, I called the duty manager who managed to contact the bank and get it reversed. If I wouldn't have had the SMS, I can't imagine the process I'd have to go through to get my money back. Be careful. As long as u didn't sign it, it'll get refunded (I guess). Once at shoe mart the lady scanned my card twice, got 2 messages of deduction, then was told the system is down and had to pay cash. I took the 2 slips of course. I contacted the bank and was told to send a fax with the 2 slips.

Did this recently - just got the passport back last week. Went to British Embassy to get the birth registered and the british birth certificate then all i needed to send for passport was the passport application, british birth certificate, two passport photos and credit card authorisation. If you do it without the british birth certificate, the docs you need to send with the passport application are your and your husband's passports, baby's local birth certificate, parents long birth certificates and marriage certificate - think that was all but not sure if you can send copies or have to send originals. HTH Thank you ladies. Natashab, how long does it take for the registration and british birth certificate to be issued?

Hi ladies. I know that liquid formula is not available in UAE. My husband is currently in Netherlands heading to the UK so i was wondering if it's a good idea to pick up some bottles from there. It's for my baby when i go back to work (if needed) so i wont think alot about scaling the powder. I want recommendations for the best formula and were to buy. I know boots in the UK but no idea about Netherlands. Another thing would be the way the formula is presented. Is it in ready to use bottles where sterilized nipples are attached or in carton? and would they let my husband carry liquids from netherlands to the uk (for those with previous experience). I know the UK would let u carry sealed formulas. Thanks in advance. P.s. appreciate prompt replies

Just a funny story about the contraction thing. In my 2nd i started to feel contractions when i was 8 months pregnant that lasted for hours then went. When it was time for the baby to come out i waited 7 hours before i actually recognized that these were true labour contractions. When i reached the hospital, i was 7 cm dilated and gave birth in less than an hour. It's easier when ur water breaks first :)

She referred me to the Fetal Medicine and Genetic Center in Dubai. She will give u a referral paper before the exam is due so u can schedual an appointment. BTW, they don't take any insurances, u'll have to pay 800 dirhams. Ask them if they have the reimbursment form of ur company so u'll take the form with u if they don't.

So basically u have to take the risk of your new maid having an infectious disease until the medicals r done whether u go through an agency or privately.

I know a lady who brought a maid from Ethiopia who was the relative of her friend's maid. After a month trial she started the residence visa procedures. The lady got a call from preventive medicine that the maid has tuberculosis and she has to be deported ASAP and was put on the first flight back. Can this happen if one gets a maid through an agency? does agencies test maids for infectious diseases before bringing them? Just wondering.

I'm sure it makes a difference with a boy or a girl... with my dd I put on 15kgs by 36weeks (she was premmie) and had to loose 12 kgs afterwards took almost 7/8months of swimming low carb ect hard going. With my DS I put on less weight about 13kgs 38.5weeks He's now 3 months and have only 3 kgs to loose :) yippeee but I have been careful what I'm eating (with a few treats) and could do with more excercise to tone up. Do you mean 6 weeks not months after a c section as both mine were c sections and always told 6 weeks. Thats an interesting theory, the boy/girl thing. I was wondering why i put so much weight this time. With both DSs i added 11 kgs by 40 weeks. I am 27 weeks pregnant wit DD and i have added 9 kilos already. And for those who lost all their pregnancy weight as soon as 4 weeks to 3 months, thats a really good accomplishment. I know drs say the norm is to give ur body a year to get back to normal :\:

Interesting thorough replies.. I'll tell u my experience. I have two and the third on the way. I usually stop work for 4 months after giving birth - till BF is well established and simple solid foods can be introduced. Then I go back part-time till my baby is old enough (usually 18 months). By this, there are no major gaps in my resume, and I can still enjoy doing both things. Of course this is not an option to all, depends on wt u do. edited by Leen on 31/01/2011 edited by Leen on 31/01/2011

Im flying first day of 36 and returning last day - hopefully. In Etihad website it says preggies are allowed till end of 36. So do they have the right not to let me on even with a certificate? to be brutally honest, it's not just about being able to push the airline to the limit of its own rules and regulations, but also, are you comfortable with the chance that you could give birth on the plane? Or indeed being turned away at the gate on your return flight? These policies are in place for a good reason, after all. You're cutting it extremely fine there and the longer you leave it, the more risk you're taking. If you're comfortable with those risks (including a potentially unassisted birth), then so be it, but you've got to seriously think about all the scenarios, including having to stay in the UK (stranded) to give birth and unable to get back until the baby's paperwork is through. Is there no way you can bring your holiday forward a week or two? edited by Hello.Kitty on 22/01/2011 I wish it was a holiday. I am doing my masters degree and i have to go for assessment. The dates are fixed way before my "unplanned" pregnancy. If i don't go i fail. I'm miserable, especially that i'm just back from my Dr and she said she is not clearing me after 32 weeks even if the airline policy says 36 cuz this is my 3rd baby.....

Ok so i have a permanent UK address, and i am registered at the GP (although i didnt have to c him except for the registration), and i've been out of the UK since September 2010. I am going for a vacation at 36 weeks for one week. Say i had to deliver there as an emergency, does anyone have an idea if i will be entitled for NHS treatment? can i just pop at the hospital for giving birth? lol
