Thanks for the suggestion dear, but unfortunately the uk tv channels are sometimes not up-to-date with the latest series or movies..something that i think streaming has an advantage over. I guess this is why i really want to give streaming a try.

This is what i know that In Qatar, with the exception of Paracetamol which is widely available in the Supermarkets, nothing can be bought without the prescription of Doctors with seal and Doctor's registration Number in Qatar Government and that too with the Original prescription. I am sorry Dear :-(

Are you aware of Qatar requirements to set up such a business? You might want to ask about those as well. All i know is that for any kind of "legal" business entity in Qatar..you first need a trade license from the Qatari government.

What a good cause! As soon as my baby starts daycare, i will be doing some major clean up. Given that this will be my last child..i see no need to have clothes that i will never use stacked up. Thanks for the idea ladies! :)

I can only say that if you are going for Mutual Consent Divorce...then such a thing has to be settled between you both only. Alimony/ Maintenance is dependent on many things including assets and liabilities, needs and Purchase Power Parity of the parties. So that can be an indicator on which you both can decide the alimony. I would recommend seeking legal advice.

Please tell your friend to request for a lactation consultant. There has to be one in her area..or somewhere close by. Not wishing to be disrepectful to doctors, but generally a busy general practitioner will not be the best person to ask for breastfeeding help. You are better off going to a lactation consultant. I say this froma personal view. Breastfeeding is indeed a very special feeling for every mother and it builds a strong relationship a mother and her child. Let her see one, please.

Oh dear, i am very sorry. It's a bit of a nightmare in London for anyone with school-age children moving unless they can afford private education. Legally, you have to wait until you are here and have an address, then apply from that address and you will be allocated a place. Your local authority is obliged to find you a school place, but it doesn't have to be particularly close to you, they don't have to find places for all your children in the same school, and the school(s) you are offered will probably be those that are at least perceived by local parents as not very good (sometimes parental perception can be wrong, though). My advice would be for you to apply for school places As Soon As Possible! and make sure to select a borough with a good school. You will be fine. All the best and good luck! :) Keep us updated.

Weddings here in Qatar are extremely extravagant affairs with the families going all out to make the event look like a dream no less. The wedding party typically starts after the isha prayer, approximately around 8pm. Guests keep trickling in and settle down and are treated to frequent hors d'oeuvre brought in by prettily dressed maids. Sometimes even expensive chocolates from places like Chopin and Patchi are brought in. Most of the women are in nice evening dresses, Impeccable make-up, expensive branded shoes and elaborately done hair. Plenty of delicious food. You could probably eat till you drop! People eat and then go back for some more dancing. And then eat some more. This goes well into the wee hours of the morning. People typically leave the party by around 4 or 5am. One of the best events to attend. Have fun! Phew! ...That was long! hahaha, but i thought it would be nice to share a few more details :)

Unfortunately, the place is quite pricey, and decent accommodation i.e. a 2 BR apartment can cost you anywhere between 5k to 12k QAR per month depending upon location! I do not know what your spending budget is like, but regratebly, your salary must be at least around 15000 Q Ryal in order to make your day around. For our rental contract to be processed, the landlord required 11 cheques (I had already given 2 month advance with some deposit and had already shifted to the rental flat after 7 days from arrival). I have a current account in QNB. Initially, I was told that I can have cheques. But later when I inquired from the bank they said I cannot issue a cheque book since my contract was for 1 year. The bank manager said if I bring a three year contract I can get a cheque book which is not possible in my case. The area is around Salwa Industrial Area. We live in a gated community which had a swimming pool, and we let our super nice, Ethiopian helper (Everybody had a helper there) use it. Anyone planning on living in Doha should choose their community carefully, cause you never know if you’ll end up with some bad people. I wish you all the best, and hope that something works out for you soon. Keep us updated. xxx

Hello, I will be moving to Doha in August 2017 and I'm just wondering if there is any further update on swimming for females and availability of 25m pools? Thanks Helen Following. We frequent Doha quite a lot, it would be nice to know this too. Thanks for asking :)

I know this feeling too well and can totally relate. The only way that worked so far for me, was either to recreate the home atmosphere that i had in the UK and i also immersed myself in work that I no longer had time to think. I would say try to get comfortable as you can with the new place. Add your touch to it and make it as close as it can get to your ideal or previous home. This would give you a homely feel. Hang in there dear because time is the best healer of homesickness.

Ladies, i am not sure if bottled water is actually the solution..The classic example a few years ago was Perrier bottled water, which people were drinking until a proper analysis revealed that it contained traces of benzene. My husband and i have invested in a water filter instead.
