I would recommend Lighthouse too- have heard good things about them... or Lifeworks. There's a lot of things online that can help too- lots of resources on sites from UK and Aus... you should be able to find with a bit of googling.

Your list is good enough! i would just find out what she likes to eat to make it convenient for her. ex. philipinas love rice so getting a rice cooker might be a plus

Chocodates are always popular.
I love them- can't stop eating them once I open a packet and try and convince myself they are healthy as they have dates in them, but its doubtful

Get a professional pest control company in who will treat your property. We had this done and never have problems.
yeah I know but i always worry about the chemicals they use after lots of people and pets dying... we're cockroach free for day 2 now... so hopefully what we've done has worked. i don't know why they make my skin crawl so much!! I guess it's cos where I'm from you have to be mega dirty to have them in the first place... it's different here though.

i have loads of animals here (cats, dog, chickens, native birds, geckos) and hate the idea of using chemicals. I just lived with the bugs that would appear when it gets hot. After being scared lat...
ooooh that sounds promising... will see if what we've done has worked over the next couple of days.... there was nothing last night thank goodness.... if not will give them call... thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Good ideas. Any suggestions for children that we haven't see in years so I have no idea about sizes for clothes or likes/dislikes?
Toy camels for sure- went down a storm with my nieces and nephews... there's some really good little stalls and shops in Souq Al Bahar that have a wide range of touristy stuff that I've got some good things from. They have cute little figures of like camels, peacocks etc. that open up as tiny trinket boxes- I can't explain properly but my nieces love them. Chocodates are also a family favourite now... oh and arabic man and lady salt and pepper sets.... they were v popular

Get a dog sitter for sure... they can pop in like half way through the day and take the dog out for a walk and a toilet. if they are not prepared to pay for that then they should give the dog to a better home. Dogs are a big commitment and need looking after properly.- cats kind of take care of themselves. maybe she should get a cat!

Oh dear I meant the townhouses in JVC... so guess you are not up for them! Mind you Nakheel is the "owner" of JVC not the developer of all properties within it... so you could still look at the ones not constructed by Nakheel. or maybe check out Mudon villas and Reem... they are in less of a construction zone.

Hi Zuharaih, You could try looking at the circle villas in JVC, District 16 villas JCV, JVT villas... they are mainly 2 beds... then closer in there's the Springs- they are not the biggest 2 beds though. Have you considered a town house? There's some great deals on those at the moment and you might be able to get a 3 or 4 bed for your price range. HTH

This thread is old- but funny! So to join in- that lebanese raw mince dish. ewwww horrid! Was forced to eat it as was with clients and they really wanted me to try- was like Monica on Friends going mmmmmmmmmmm! And also camel sausages- they were lovely!

After much and I mean much researching and watching of youtube videos we decided to go for a cold press juicer, the whizzy ones heat up and destroy the good enzymes apparently and what with the price of veggies out here wanted to get as much goodness out as possible so we got a Kuvings cold press juicer. so far so good got it from Tavola. Any good juicing recipes you want to share?

Another vote for Motor City.... there are also villas and townhouses- not just apartments- have a look at The Green Community Motor City. You can walk around and there's loads of shops and restaurants and more on the way.

Have you watched the program "My Cat From ****" on Animal Planet with Jackson Galaxy? He's also known as the Cat Whisperer. There's clips of him on Youtube too- he shows that with cats it's all about territory and with 3 cats in the territory it's going to be a problem... have a Google for his advice on what to do- sometimes a few simple changes like putting up escape shelves can make a massive difference :) HTH

I know what you mean... it is easy to get jaded here... think we all go through ups and downs and lot of people thinking about summer getaways right now and it's getting so hot... it's that time of year to get the blues. I've been here for years but still have my ups and downs with how I feel about living here.... I let myself wallow for a couple of days then snap myself out of it... we are so lucky to be living in this amazing safe place but we're allowed to get blue every now and again!
