It really depends on the dog because my parents have a dog who has to be the only dog in the house. She would not be happy with another dog there as she wants to be centre of attention K9 informed us of this when we adopted her years ago as FairyDust mentioned, you should foster a dog first and see how they get along together

I have also received an email that my internet has been doubled for 3 months I remember a few years back DU upgraded my package temporarily and I didnt get the email from them. So I didn't know about it. And the email apparently stated that if i dont want to keep the upgrade I must inform them otherwise i will be charged the new package price from a certain date. anyway, a few months later i wondered why my monthly fee had gone up by so much. So i called them and they told me about this email they had sent to their customers, which i searched back for and there was nothing. So they checked on their systems and said sorry mam it looks like you didn't receive it. But its too late now as its already been switched over and we cant change it back! So basically i was stuck with the new higher package that i didn't ask for! so i am weary of this new offer of double internet speed! I've been caught out in the past!! i already pay a ridiculously high amount every month and my one decoder keeps freezing all the time & we have to reboot maybe 4 times a week & they refuse to replace it. The other one works perfectly, so its not a signal issue!

Hi Ladies.. I'm digging up a very old post here as i was doing a search, but just wanted to know about Dr. Badsha.. is this the same doctor who has her own clinic on beach road? i had an MRI recently and the results were "arathropathy of the facet joints" the doctor was very vague to explain what that was and just said inflammation of the joints, prescribed me painkillers and that was it. when i read up what Arathropathy is, it sounds like arthritis or maybe the onset of arthritis. I'm quite young still (early 30's) and definitely dont want to end up crippled with back pain. I suffer with severe back pain already at night and really want to see a good doctor to get some proper treatment for my condition. My mother has arthritis too, so it does run in the family so far all the doctors i've seen have not been very helpful or should i said knowledgeable. I find physio and the chiro helps but only temporarily. And want to also make sure seeing a chiro/physio is safe for that type of condition. Dont want to make it worse in the long run If it is arthritis, what sort of treatment do they offer at this clinic? thank you :-)

Hello Ladies! I'm sure most of you must have had microdermabrasion done over the past year. Living in Dubai has made my skin looking dull and I need to get my glow back! I urgently need some quick good recommendations of places that provide this service and show effective results! I was looking into Dermacare, I was told that they are not too pricey and very effective. If you guys are aware of any other places please post em up! Dr Allen at Elite Dubai Health Care City He is only one of two guys here that I would let near my face, I don't know if they are cheapest but he is very good. this person responding to these posts is bringing up old posts and looks like they are advertising their clinic... if you look there are a few posts from today from the same person and most are bringing up old topics to do with dental clinics... just something i noticed

maybe check with critters sitters as i think they dont only pet sit dogs and cats. I've used them a few times for my cats and they've been very good I cant offer any help either as the fish i had recently all died so clearly i'm not very good with aquariums and wouldn't want to be responsible for someone else's fish :quite:

Lily you get it from the pharmacy. Life pharmacy have it. Move and clean under your white goods in the kitchen and sprinkle a thin talc like layer on the floor under them. I also do the edges of my cupboards. If you already have cockroaches, sprinkle a layer on the kitchen floor as well for two or three days and anywhere they have been. Takes about a week or two to get rid completely. Always works for me, I get roaches once in a while but after using this method there's never been an infestation. [u'>Cockroach Elimination - Boric Acid[/u'> http://www2.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef614.asp [i'>For best results, the powder should be applied in a very thin layer barely visible to the naked eye. Piles or heavy accumulations will be avoided by foraging cockroaches much as we would avoid walking through a snow drift. To apply a fine layer, shake the container and puff a small quantity of the powder into the target area. Manufacturers of boric acid often fill their containers too full of powder -- by using a container which is no more than two-thirds full, an airspace is created at the top which allows the dust to be puffed more easily (A few pennies or pebbles placed inside the container helps prevent the powder from caking). The trick is to give the container a shake, then puff a very light dusting of the powder into the area you wish to treat.[/i'> thank you Alismum that's really helpful... although i'll probably stick to just under the white goods as i have cats and don't want them to end up with it on them and lick it off we don't have too many at the moment but want to kill them before they get the chance to get worse definitely the change in the season i think as I've only just noticed them recently

Diamante I have had odd cockroaches every year no matter where Ive lived, appt and villa. Most I had was about 20 one year and I have always managed to get rid of them using boric acid. I have never had to call the pest control out. I never worry about the roaches myself i just sprinkle the boric acid under the white goods in the kitchen or wherever theyve been seen and it takes about a week for them to die off, but those little pesky ants are driving me nuts. They pop up everywhere and are quite resilient. I'm currently having an issue with roaches too. We've been using some roach traps from ACE hardware which seem to help but i am very curios about this boric acid?? where do you get it from as I've never heard of it before

It's pretty common to pay with credit cards here. We could not open a joint bank account and the bank would not give me an ATM card or bank card to my husband's account. They would give a credit card though so that's what I'm using most of the time. I don't like having much cash on me. It's easy enough to transfer online cash from the cheque account to the credit cards. Yes, credit cards. We both have two each but the second one is for emergency use only in case of getting robbed when travelling. What the banks should do is watch out for issuing multiple credit cards to customers who just keep on accumulating debt without paying it off properly. I don't know what sort of system they have in place here. It would be useful to have a centralised register of debt which should prevent a lot of debt tragedies here. They do go through the central bank now for any loan, credit card applications etc.... They can see every detail of your debt now with the banks in the UAE. Thats why its harder now for people to get multiple loans etc. i think i read somewhere that eventually it will even give details of how much dewa etc. you pay a month

Its quite scary, i have credit cards and a loan and if made redundant i certainly wouldn't be able to pay back in one go to be able to leave. I definitely wouldn't do a runner as i wouldn't want to ever be in that situation, but scary to think what you actually would do. The banks dont seem to be willing to come up with some sort of payment scheme if you ever face financial problems... its pay up or go to jail... that's why people run. we inquired a while back when my husband was made redundant & we werent sure if he'd get a new job, if we could set up some sort of payment scheme (if need be) that he pays from his home country and it was a plain down NO! in 2009 i worked for a company that had over 200 employees and they asked their employees to take 1 month unpaid leave to try and sort out their finances. Unfortunately when we got back to work after the month off we were told we were being made redundant. The company had i think about 50 people left at the end of it all

Does anyone actually understand the conditions around alcohol licences? I dont live in Dubai therefor I cannot get a Dubai alcohol licence......does this mean I am a 'tourist' when I visit Dubai, or that I shouldnt be able to drink at all when in Dubai? (going to make nights out rather dull!) If its illegal to drink without a licence across the UAE, why do the Northern Emirates sell alcohol without a licence? It kinda feels like just another way for Dubai to make money (especially as Abu Dhabi dont charge for their licence) i only just recently renewed my alcohol license which had expired in 2012 and i still went out to bars and consumed alcohol with no issues. I just used to buy my alcohol for home from Barracuda/UAQ instead of in Dubai. You can also easily buy at duty free on the way out of the airport, i think 4 litres of spirits is allowed and we used to also buy a case of beer yes it is better to have a license because if anything does happen that brings attention to you, you will be in trouble, but it doesn't mean you cant drink at all (yes it is technically illegal but you can still do it). No bars ever ask to see it before serving alcohol. Only MMI and African and Eastern will ask to see it before purchasing.

I applied for a PA job through www.emirates.com/careers this was back in February, i was only contacted in April to see if i was still interested. I had the package details emailed to me and it was very low compared to what i'm getting now. The only plus side was the discounted tickets for friends and family. But there was no way i could afford to take such a huge salary cut for cheaper tickets.... pity really! although taking such a salary cut i wouldn't be able to afford to go on holiday anyway  but if you're looking for a salary around AED 9k - 12k and housing of about AED 30k per year then it would be a good option. Not sure if they still have openings but try the link. They do take a long time to get back to you so you have to be patient. and the job is likely by the airport in the emirates headquarters - so if you live that side or don't mind traveling over there

i would suggest going to a GP and getting a referral for an MRI to check exactly what the issue is. If they suggest physio then I second Up and Running. They are very good. But be careful when seeing Neuro surgeons here, I find doctors here are very quick to suggest operating when it involves back pain which is a very risky operation to have and most of the time can be avoided by having physio, chiro sessions etc. i have been suffering with back pain for years now and would never let anyone operate on my back unless it was physically disabling me & absolutely necessary and even then i would probably travel overseas to have it done also be careful of the pain medication they dish out so easily. As i was given something without them even checking my medical history and it could have caused me a lot of harm. Luckily i looked into it before i took it.

I normally buy the Lemnos Feta Cheese in the blue and white pack. I really like that one out of all the ones i've tried - prepacked. I think the local brands taste awful, almost like they've gone out of date. :\: I also quite like taste of the one you get at the salad bar in spinneys but I've never asked which one that is, i guess they take it from their cheese counter.

I'm British but grew up in SA since the age of 4 and have lived away from SA for the last 10 years. If i had to leave Dubai and go back "home" it would definitely be SA over the UK as I hate the cold now after living here. However, I have always said that if i do move back to SA i would not live in a stand alone house, i would feel too unsafe. Back when i did live in SA it was ok, but after living away for so long and especially here which is so safe i would feel like i'm constantly worried about every little noise I would look for something in either a gated community which have better security or an apartment. you need to look in areas like Sandton & surrounding which are good safe areas

i went a while back and i don't remember what the rooms were like (don't think it was anything great) but the springs were quite manky. We walked down to have a look and i didn't even want to get in them. And the men and woman's section is separate so my husband and I would have had to go alone so wouldn't have been much fun sitting squished up with a bunch of strangers when we wanted to go together. we also checked out the jacuzzi spa suite or whatever it is called (next to the springs) that they offer and it was basically just a bed in a room and a jacuzzi outside which looked like it needed a good scrub too. Apparently the water is pumped from the springs into the jacuzzi  I remember they had a poster in reception for day trips to Ice Land water park. That would be a good option for the kids. I've been to Iceland water park and it was quite fun.

I wouldn't do it! This happened to me with fellowship properties. i paid my rent in one cheque to the property company and they were paying to the landlord in 4 cheques. He cleared the first 2 with no issues but 3rd one bounced. He went to see them and surprise surprise they'd packed up shop and done a runner! And it happened to a lot of people with this company. You can see on their Facebook page. We were lucky though to have a very nice landlord who didn't make us pay again. He just cut his loses. But we lost our deposit from the agency Would never give cheques to a real estate again. I just don't trust them

i booked to Beirut a few years ago and then had to cancel and was given vouchers for the refund. It is a pain, but you can book to any other destination with the vouchers. So we ended up going to Muscat instead. If you can utilize the vouchers for another trip then its not so bad, but if you aren't planning on going anywhere then it is a rip off. Think they have so many months validity

I've used critters sitters a couple of times and they are really good. If you are new with them, they will come to your house to "meet" the pets and you fill out a form of your preferences and what to feed and favorite toys etc. also while you are away they will give you regular updates and send photos to you. you can also tell them to rotate the lights in the house so not the same ones are left on the whole time. think i paid about 60dhs a day for my two cats would highly recommend them

Hi Ladies, Just wanted to check with all of you who have flown Virgin and British Airways to London, which one you prefer? I would normally book with Emirates but only flex fares are available and the cost is so high. I'm not sure if its worth it to pay that much. So my other two options are British Airways and Virgin which have really good fares. I think i'm leaning towards BA but i haven't flown them since 2009 and honestly cant remember what it was like. any advice would be great thanks :-)

Yep. Just called them. Unfortunately Exhale in Motor City has closed down. Dunno. Anybody got any other suggestions? What's Fitness First like in Motor City? Or Bodyworks? I wish Exhale were still open, they sound pretty good. if you're looking specifically for a ladies only gym, then I wouldn't recommend to join Fitness first motor city. I have a membership with them and have hardly been because whenever i go its mostly men and i feel very intimidated when i go there and try to use any of the weights machines etc. I feel a lot of them are there to show off! So i was only using the treadmill which is a total waste of the money. But I guess it probably depends what time of the day you go too. Early mornings before 7am seemed to be better than evenings. If you can get up and go that early :)
