I have had severe hair loss for about 4 years not, I have finally found that being on Yasmin contraception pill stops it. If I come off it though it starts again! It's obv hormonal for me. Don't know what I will do in years to come when I can't be on it anymore..!

I've only paid about 10 years NI I think. So would need to pay extra 25 years! That's a lot. Guess we have to consider this and set up offshore pension as I know I won't be able to survive on such a small amount!

If you have an account you can use aramex. They charge about 40aed I think. If you don't have an account then it only works if the docs are either collected, or delivered to you so u can pay cash.

Sometimes I've noticed that the dental nurse is also the receptionist so they don't always get to the phone if they are assisting the dentist. I would keep trying. Though its a little late now anyway, may be closed

We took our dd in from age 6 weeks. She loved it. Made sure not to put her head under though. And a good bath after to wash off nasty chemicals. Never had any problems

I had a Receptionist job for a year at at Large British corporation. The pay was 11,000 aed. I left in the end to go back to pa work as pays more but looking back I think 11,000 was ok for reception role. There are companies who want a native English person on their reception and they pay accordingly. I don't have a degree. It's hard to get that first job but once you have some UAE experience on your cv its easier to get interviews. Catch 22!

If you click in the finance tab above there is an email address for Paul Jenkinson, he can give you an unbiased quote for a Will, or at least tell you what you should be looking at paying.

we have recently been contacted by our agent who told us that the landlord plans in sept (when the contract is re-newed) to raise the rent 'in accordance with the going rate for a property of this standard' - (our villa is a bargain, so if he did that it would go up at least 30k). I replied and said that i was under the impression that 5% was the max he was allowed to raise the rent in a year (this is out second year in this property). after a few days they have just come back again saying the landlord has checked with rera and he can legally raise the rent 7%. they also said that in sept he will be giving us the 12 months notice to vacate as he plans to move in himself. i would be very surprised if this happened as i know he is based in germany, but what can you do...

I just used GT Autos in al quoz last week for the first time (new brake pads for my porsche cayenne) and they were great! I had been quoted 7000 aed for all new pads and discs but the british guy there told me that I didnt need new discs, only pads, and did my pads for 3750, saving me lots of money had i just gone with the previous quote/garage. Call them and ask for Phil. (sorry i dont have the number but if you google GT Autos dubai they have a website)

Maldives is good idea as the flight is only 4 hours, a blessing with a 14 month old! Bandos Island Resort has a kids club that takes them from 12 months, if you wanted a break, whereas most places they don't take them until they are 3 or 4 yrs. Its only a 4 star though. But if you upgrade you can get beach villas that are reasonable. We just went to KL/Singapore and Laos in Dec with DD who was 17 months old. It was good but hard work and a lot of flying, I would def go somewhere more relaxing and with a kids club/babysitting if I did it again, so it felt more like a holiday! City break was not the best call...!

ive noticed in the supermarket that there is philly that is made in the uk and imported and then philly that is made in the middle east, same product, but much cheaper. i pay 10 aed for a small tub. but ive noticed some of the other flavours (that are imported from uk, like Chive, say) are 25 aed for a same size tub. this is in spinneys. on the other hand i know you can buy cream cheese on the cheese coutner but not sure if its any good...

I am on my second week of this plan. I lost 3 pounds in the first week so I am hooked! This included a trip to the cheesecake factory and gourmet burger on my eating days. Hope I continue to lose at this rate, but only time will tell. Would love to hear from anyone whos been doing it a bit longer, do you lose each week, or only some, and where does it level out? Also I get a mild headache on my fasting days, even though I drink lots of water, does anyone else get this?

Yes you should def keep your money offshore, here they can freeze your accounts at the drop of a hat, if you were to have a accident or if one of you were to pass away. You should not keep any large amounts in UAE bank accounts. The Government have full control over it. My husband Paul advises on all these issues, if you want him to contact you just send me your details. springsuae @ hotmail.co.uk.

we went on Saturday with my dd who is 19 months, I felt like they were following us with the whistles! whenever she got within 1m of a flower they were on us! took away from the experience a bit. was still very pretty but i think they need to chill a bit on the small children unless they are actually damaging the flowers. also was not a fan of the 80's love songs booming out from the centre...

I would say go see a gp/family doctor, they might run some tests and be able to give her something to help her sleep (short term anyway). could be underlying stress or worry making her wake. how awful I am a mess without my sleep is nothing worse than being tired and not able to sleep.

I have one of these, I was really happy I bought it. its a tommy one (I think that's what its called). I live in the springs, it works well from downstairs and also in the garden up to dd's room. makes me feel so much better to be able to see her as well as hear her. sometimes saves you running up there if you hear a noise and wonder what it is, you can see if they are still asleep, or sat up, standing up, whatever. def worth buying.

don't worry too much about seeing a doctor just yet, I was too nervous to go until I was married so my first scan was in the uk at 15 weeks! I need not have worried though as others have said, the doctors never asked anything at all. in the uk they tell you not to go to your gp until you think you are 12 weeks so you have some time yet. re. working and visa I worked until 36 weeks until we left for the uk for the birth and then I quit. I was on their visa and they just cancelled it when I left. I quit because you only get 40 days maternity leave here and I didn't feel it would have been enough for me, but I know I was lucky to have that choice I know. I had 18 months off and now work part time. I went onto my husbands visa when I returned to Dubai with the baby.

this exact situation happened to me in 2011. we looked at getting married here but in the end went to the uk (we are both british) and went to Gretna green as that's the quickest and easiest place to do it in the uk. you can apply for the license by post (we sent a courier with the fee to Scotland!) and then just turn up on the day. otherwise you have to apply at your local office in your town city and then it has to go on the wall for however long, a few weeks I think, before you can go ahead and get married. this would have meant two trips home to get married rather than one. we went home for two weeks over xmas and got married at Gretna. it was very easy. I was never into the idea of a big wedding anyway so as long as you aren't looking for that its fine. it was snowing so quite romantic! we then came back to Dubai and planned to have the baby here. no problems from doctors they had no interest in us being married or not or when we did it (I was at medcare). however I heard lots of scare stories of the government not releasing the baby's birth certificate due to the marriage and birth dates not marrying up on your certificates. I called the british embassy and they scared me even more and said best to go home and have the baby in the uk as they have had people have trouble before and being put in jail! I was very surprised, I thought they would say it would be fine now that we are married. I have to add that I also spoke to people who have had babies here and been married after conception and they have been just fine. in the end it stressed me out so we flew back when I was 36 weeks and I had dd in uk then flew back when she was 5 weeks. we are lucky that dh could take extended time off work and could be with me the whole time. best bet call your embassy and see what they recommend. as I said you wont have any problems with doctors, they never asked or cared about us, if you have any problems from what I have been told its when you go along to register the birth. if they don't release the birth certificate you cant get the passport and so on so on.
