I did this same thing, flew to uk and had dd there and flew back when she was 5 weeks old. we bought the quinny buzz and used the maxi cosi cabrio with it. which is great for travel, in and out of cars etc. we bought a very cheap bassinet from sainsburys for about 40 gpb (straw one) to use for few weeks and then just gave it away when we left and bought a nice cot when we arrived back in Dubai. we flew back with BA because at the time they you bring extra cases for 35 gbp each, done per case rather than on weight. we bought back 5 suitcases between the 2 of us and baby! I think most airlines let you bring back the buggy and car seat as separate. all airlines always let us keep the car seat with us and put it in the overhead on the plane. the hardest thing is getting through to people in the uk that you are flying back to Dubai, as they buy really nice presents for the baby that are completely unsuitable for, too big, too heavy for you to bring back with you! large teddies, nursery pictures etc. had to leave some lovely stuff behind!

I have a Philips IPL machine which is a laser that you do yourself at home. it was about 1500 aed from boots. its great, you do it once a month and it keeps you hair free. you can use it on bikini/underarms and legs, though takes ages to do your legs! Does this device hurt like the Epilady does????? No, its a flash of light. I don't feel it but my mum thinks it stings a bit. this is it http://www.shop.philips.com/l/lumea/gb/lumea_flash/

huge congratulations! in the uk they tell you not to go before 12 weeks. but here they scanned me straight away to confirm the pregnancy (8 weeks) and then each appointment i had, so had a scan every month at every check up! i think this is unnecessary but its nice to see the baby too...

.....actually mine was a one way flight so i see what you are saying about being able to fly back, incase they are not as flexible letting you back on in uk. maybe call emirates office in uk or at the airport to see exactly what they will need for you to fly. will they accept your uae doctors note or would you would need to get a letter that end from a uk doctor, dated more recently...? def best to call. and maybe even get them to email confirmation so you have it in writing from emirates before you fly.

I flew to London in 2011 when I was 34 weeks as I wanted to have my dd in uk. I had a letter from the doctor, though they didn't ask to see it. the flight was ok, bit uncomfortable but bearable. i wore some of those socks for dvt (you can buy them in boots) and moved around a lot.

I got my first grey hairs at 18! I loved them as I thought it made me look distinguished haha I have more now obviously but still light. They are mostly by my temples. The hairdresser colours them every 3-4 months and they only bother me if I leave it 6 months or so between colours. Highlights helps to hide them for longer. There's no miracle cure for grey hair, just learn to accept them and colour them if they're too upsetting. If you don't want hair dye, then you can get special pens to colour individual hairs only. edited by Wednesday Genius on 18/02/2013 I've read about these pens, can you buy them in Dubai do you know?? thanks

I am 32 and got grey hairs starting at the front about 2 years ago. I was expecting them really as my mum started going grey at 21! (she said it was childbirth, incidentally I am an only child!). I started dying it at home but it just seem to get darker and darker (I am brunette) so now I go the salon. they say to go every 6 weeks but I don't go that often, I go about every 3 months, when it gets noticeable. I suppose it will get worse as I get older and I may have to go more often. they don't colour your whole hair just the roots, once you've had it done the first time. it takes years I think to go totally grey so don't worry too much!

i have done it many times with hire cars and never been asked. however i have got a friend who says she was asked once. i think she had it anyway as it was her own car. it would be very unlucky to be asked but not impossible.

you will usually have to put down rent and deposit same as usual, and also that 5% of rent that is agents fee. if you pay in 12 cheques, you only need one months rent at first, if you pay in say 4 cheques, you will need 3 months rent up front. you have to write out all the cheques for the full 12 months on the day you move in. again, temporary accomodation isnt like this and you just pay monthly with no contract or cheques. i dont know what rent on a 1 bed in abu dhabi would be anymore, i havent lived there for 3 years. it used to be more expensive than dubai back then but not sure now. if you look on dubizzle.com you can guage an idea of rent prices.

I have done lots of visa runs over the years to hatta and have never had or been asked for oman insurance. I have done this in my car and also hire cars, I think as long as you are doing a visa run they don't ask. if you are actually going into oman I would get it.

its very small. we use ours as a study and if we had a maid i'd probably get a live out one. but I know people who do use it for their maids, with a very small single bed. there is no bathroom attached however so she would have to use the upstairs bathrooms.

my friends did this recently with key business solutions. they got a an original of the license but it is under a general trading name, not their company name. so essentially their company is branched under that general trading license. works for them. they can use it to rent premises. cons would be that you cannot sponsor or hire any staff under it/provide visas for staff.

I had my parents here for 4 months. we drove to oman after each 30 days to get another 30 day visa. you can do this as many times as you like. i have friends who have been doing it well over a year. i think you can extend for 30 days at immigration office in dubai without leaving the country, but it cost 500 aed each so was cheaper to just go to oman (hatta). takes about 3 hours round trip by car, and costs 60 aed per person when you get there. they go straight in and out same time/day. is very easy. hope this helps.

my dd used to feed once during the night until 6 months. someone told that after 6 months their bodies should consume enough during the day to sleep 8 hours without needing a feed. she told me to just give a cuddle and dummy (if you use one) when she woke in the night and then put her back down without any milk. this worked for the most part, and after a few days she stopped waking in the night as she had started eating more in the day. I think the waking was more habit than hunger. it was around this time I started on purees etc too so that probably filled her up in the day too which im sure helped get her through the night.

with Kershaw I got 60 aed per hour, but obviously Kershaw would have been paid a lot more for me than that! they prob got about 90 or 100 aed per hour and paid me 60 and took the rest as their fee. for the job im currently doing as a temp im getting 100 aed per hour so better value. I am British.

I used to temp for Kershaw as a PA/Admin a year or so ago. not sure if they still do it. I am temping at the moment for someone who advertised for a PA on Dubizzle. If you put an ad on there you might get someone direct, you will however get 100's of cv's that are pure tripe also! Best to say western or European if that is what you want, and uae experience etc, be very specific. there are lots of women on their husbands visa's who like to do temp or part time work and have some good experience, but don't work full time now due to having kids.

this is true, its the same in dubai, though you can often in pay in 2 or 4 cheques. there are some apartments in dubai that now will go to 12 cheques (as in your pay monthly, but your contract will still be for 12 months) but they often ask for a higher rent amount if they let you do this. there is always short term apartments, and hotel apartments, which you have no contract and pay monthly, but again these are more expensive (as they include all furniture and bills etc). its a bit of a nightmare getting set up here at first whilst you get on your feet financially, esp if you don't get housing/schooling paid for by your employer. but it is do-able. If you are single you could also rent a ensuite room in a villa or apartment with another woman or 2, works out cheaper that way and can share bills. there is a lot of this in dubai not sure about abu dhabi.

My DH and me have just done all this. We set up a retirement fund, life insurance, and education fee fund (for our kids for Uni, though they are only young as the moment). it had been on my mind for a while since moving here. I didn't even know that if we are still living abroad we have to pay a fortune for Uni, as have to pay as a non-resident. also this company did our Will for us, so that we are covered over here under the sharia law. (who gets the kids, inheritance tax etc which I hadn't even thought about either!) I feel much better now its done. let me know if you want the name of our guy. he's british and really knowledgeable about what and how to save.

my friend is having this problem too, he has adult acne, though it is fairly mild, he really hates it. he took various anti-biotics (dermatologist at American hosp, cant remember his name) but didn't do much. he then took Accutane (dermatologist at medcare) for a few months which did help dry up his skin but the side effects were awful. now he has stopped taking it the oil and breakouts have returned. is so unfair. there has to be a better way to combat this. he finds diary makes it worse. maybe the key is in the diet?

I have to agree with amyaus82, my husband had these really aggressive tantrums during using champix to quit smoking. he is quite intense anyway, (and prone to the occasional alcohol induced tantrum) and we've always rowed like cat and dog, its just how we are, but those pills made it much worse, like a different person, once I looked it up I couldn't believe the side effects and that they just sell them over the counter with no medical checks. your husband needs to get off any meds he on as soon as possible as they really aggravate the situation and his perception of things. obv easier said than done if he thinks you are the root of all evil at the moment, he is unlikely to listen to your pleas, but if you can get him in front of a counselor, that would help too. again, easier said than done I know!

i have recently looked into this, we ended up getting a picket fence made at the garden centre (there is a carpentry shop at the back of the centre, outside, who makes things to order). its sturdy and natural wood colour and we just cornered off the pool so my DD (shes 18 months) cant get to it. it cost about 1500 aed and they delivered it in sections. (this was for quite a lot of fence, it sections off half of our garden).

Also the name on the License may be different to the trading name, if the company has or comes under a General Trading License they can be trading in lots of items and branches and 'companies' under the one Trade License i think

If you want to be near the Metro you could try Tecom as you could walk to the Metro from there. And maybe Al Barsha. Discovery is good as depending where you are in Discovery Gardens you can walk to the Metro, and they are lots of buses there too. Sports City and Jumeirah Village Circle are out of the way and no bus or metro system (I don't think so anyway), so not so good if you don't have a car.

Sports City they are around 40,000 - 50,000 AED. JLT is 60,000 for a one bed, cheaper for a studio. Greens is 60,000 for a one bed (going up from there to about 75,000 AED - this is for the older Greens apartments) and Jumeirah Village Cirlce starts at 40,000 AED.

I am just in the process of looking for somewhere low rent for my parents who have just moved over. They have checked out most areas. They ruled out Discovery as there are no pools or gyms and its a little run down now. You can get some good deals in JLT for studios. They are now looking at Jumeirah Village Circle (which isnt too far out once you workout the roads!), Sports City and the Greens at one bedrooms. I guess it depends which end of the City you want to be. I only know this end as I live in the Springs and don't want them too far from me! Hope this helps :-)

my dd is 18 months, she always used to fall asleep in my arms but when she was about 9 months she stopped doing this so we had to do some sleep training, as I was putting her in the cot whilst she was still awake. it took a few days of leaving her to cry in the end, after trying various other ways. at first i would go in every 15 mins or so and sooth her (not pick her up just lay her back down, say hi) but this seemed to make her worse and more distressed over and over again, so in the end on the advice of another mum i left her to cry herself to sleep. i have a camera monitor and this really helped me as i could see her, so as she cried and i got stressed, i felt much better than i could actually see she was ok, as in my mind i was worrying she had hurt herself or got her left stuck in in the cot or something, and it made me want to go back in. the camera monitor was god send! the most she ever cried for was about an hour straight (once i stopped going back in there). it was hard but after abotu 4 nights it stopped and she still sometimes tries it on but only ever for five minutes then she lays down and goes to sleep. i use a dummy (night time only) and i must say it helps! not looking forward to getting that off her which I keep telling myself Im going to do one of these nights...! she doesnt generally wake in the night. again, she used to but unless she cried for 10 mins or more, i didnt go in (watcher her on the monitor, again made me feel better that i could see she was ok), and once she realised there was nothing going on and no one was coming she just went back to sleep. i agree to use a night light. good luck - it will be worth it in the end...!

on the home page where you first start, where it says the overall total distance of all your runs, on the top left hand corner there is a box with three horizontal lines on it, click on this and there are lots of options, if the click on 'Activity' it shows all your past runs. hope this makes sense..
