Quite liked Elementary, he's so eccentric and Lucy Lui plays a good character and Scandal with Kerry Washington isnt too bad either. Have just started watching Ray Donovan which is really good along with Blacklist which is entertaining if not a little far fetched but it fills in the time between Newsroom, Boardwalk Empire and Downton Abbey. If you like Masterchef Oz, The Professionals is good, it has Marco-Pierre White as a judge and he is brutal in the kitchen/service challenges and there are some serious ego's in the series. I just watched an episode with a Zumbo cake challenge and it was a debaucle with some good squabbling with the contestants.

Thank u so much for all of your insight I've decided I have to live here!! When do u move btw maybe u can hook me up through your Landlord? Lol Our landlord is "selling" our apartment and you really dont want to live facing the road and the viceroy construction site! I have literally stuffed my window frames with towels to block out the noise as the site is 24/7. Plus he seems to believe its worth at least 20K more than any other apartment in the building. Good luck with getting an apartment!

The Marriott in Bur Dubai, has a great kids play area and also at Al Fattan Tower in JBR there is a play area at the restaurant on the first level. I'm not sure if its still open and I cant remember the name.

Adooli, not really other than the usual gripes that come when you are sharing a building with other people and some are less considerate than others. Also with the pool and gym not being available and we were told 3 years ago that it would be ready in 6 months, this is about the only thing that is annoying. There have been issues with people flicking cigarette butts over their balconies but this seems to have settled down. We are on a high floor so we dont have that issue at all. The concierge and security staff are lovely, polite and efficient and this is more a credit to IFA. There is a definite community feel, we know all the kids in our building despite the fact that we dont have kids and most of the maids. We also know most of the other residents and everyone is pleasant and pretty much everyone says hello. We have even made good friends with a few residents and we walk our dog over by shoreline everyday and have met some wonderful people, some fantastic kids and their parents and some definite expat brats and surprise surprise never seen their parents. Maybe this is just our building and we have been very lucky but I am definitely very sad to be leaving the building.

I always do mine in the dryer and if they are a little damp then, sand permitting, finish them off to dry outside. Every so often I do a wash with powder rather than liquid and don't use a fabric softener. I don't find the dryer balls work very well and I think the cupboard towels are a result of the hard water! I think I will give the ammonia a go and see if that makes a difference.

Got this off a website called wisegeek.com but can't post the link with the new iPad update for some reason so here is the whole article! How Can I Make My Old Towels Soft and Fluffy Again? There are several ways to revive old towels with common household ingredients. Adding ammonia or vinegar to the wash can reduce detergent buildup, while drying them on low and using dryer balls can make them fluffier. Over time, towels do have a tendency to get hard and to lose absorbency often because factors like hard water or drying them on too high a heat. Addressing these underlying causes can help eliminate some of the hardness and lack of absorbency. Some very old or very stiff towels may be too far gone; in that case it's better to recycle them and get new ones. Add Ammonia or Vinegar to the Wash It's often possible to soften old towels just by adding 1 cup (0.23 liters) of ammonia or vinegar to your wash. Ammonia can strip off buildup from laundry detergent and fabric softeners, while distilled white vinegar can cut through mineral buildup from hard water. Vinegar also softens the fibers of the towel when added during the final rinse. If the towels are smelly, try adding 0.5 cup (110.5 grams) of baking soda in a separate wash. You shouldn't add the baking soda in with the vinegar or ammonia; it won't work as well. Wash with Water Softening Tablets or Borax You can also try washing a load of old towels with water softening tablets designed to clean limescale out of laundry machines. This is particularly effective for towels made stiff by hard water. Another option is to mix 0.5 cup (about 110 grams) of borax with 1 cup (about 280 grams) of sodium carbonate — called soda ash or washing powder — in a little very hot water until they dissolve. Once the powder is dissolved and the mixture has cooled down, pour it into a 2 liter bottle, and fill the rest of the bottle with water. Then add 1 or 2 cups (about 236 to 473 ml) of this solution to a load of old towels. Other Washing Tips Many laundry experts recommend washing towels separately from other clothing because buttons, hooks, and other clothing closures can catch on the towels and cause them to wear out more quickly. When you wash them, don't overfill the washer — it's important for the towels to be able to move around freely to get clean, and the friction of items rubbing together can cause them to wear out more quickly. Use the hottest water temperature recommended, and always rinse with cold water. Using Dryer Balls A non-chemical way to soften old towels is to always dry the towels on low heat with a dryer ball or tennis ball in the dryer. These keep laundry from clumping together while drying and help the air circulate among pieces, which makes them dry more quickly. Generally speaking, it's best to use dryer balls in place of fabric softeners when drying any towels, whether they're old or new because the chemicals in the fabric softener can coat the towel fibers and make them less absorbent. Causes of Hard or Non-Absorbent Towels Towels naturally become rough and non-absorbent because the fibers break down over time. They can also get stiff because of environmental factors, like hard water that causes a buildup of minerals on them. After washing towels that have a very heavy buildup of minerals with water softening tablets or a solution of borax and washing soda, you may see small crystals in the bottom of the washing machine; those are the minerals that were washed out of the towels. Caring for towels incorrectly can also age them and make them scratchy or non-absorbent. One of the most common reasons towels become less absorbent is because of the ingredients in fabric softeners; the silicon or other lubricants that make the clothes soft can also leave a coating on towels and prevent them from absorbing water as well. Bleaching towels repeatedly can also cause their fibers to break down, making them scratchy. Though it's OK to bleach towels periodically, you shouldn't do it too often. Too much heat can also damage towels, so it's important to make sure to only dry your towels on low or medium heat settings. It's also best not to iron towels, but if you really want to, then do it on a low heat setting. Towels can get stiff if they're dried on a clothesline instead of in a drier; you can help reduce this by shaking them out before and after you hang them up, or you can dry them only part way, then put them in the dryer with a dryer ball for a few minutes.

What a shame, we are looking for one of those. Actually I rang about that one and the owner told me it's gone and that was on Wednesday. We have also noticed that the landlords are asking for one cheque now and the agents are advertising the pool and gym which neither are available. Also rumours abound that the mosque is going ahead near building one which is why I think people are moving as well. There are other apartments around but not at that price that are around but are more expensive but will take more than one cheque. There have been more people moving out than in in GM at the moment so don't lose heart something will come up.

I've been using a product called Malibu C hard water treatment for the last couple of months, which I order on line. It strips the minerals out of the hair and gets rid of the orange tones in my blonde hair. It feels softer and I don't use as much shampoo to get a decent lather. And I get a massive amount of lather which I love. Apparently in the desalination process there are a lot of minerals which makes the water hard. I love this product and have tried their shampoos which are ok but wouldn't order again, I prefer the Moroccanoil in combination with the Malibu C because it leaves my hair soft and shiny, really shiny. It's also helped with the amount of hair I lose by about half although I have very thick hair.

Take it! It's very reasonable. Are you in GM at the moment? Is this apartment facing the road? I'm sitting on my balcony at the moment and the noise from the construction is bad. The viceroy site is 24 hours of noise and the loud stuff doesn't finish until at the earliest until 10. It's only going to get worse as the sites next to it have also been sold, well that the gossip from around the community.

I just over heard two guys in the lift where I work saying that prices are going to go "ballistic" in the next two years. And if Dubai gets the Expo in 2020 then this may put more pressure on the market. Its looking more and more like if my salary doesnt increment in line with the market I am going home I'd rather be broke and with my family than trying to struggle here on a meagre salary. I really dont know how people with kids and school fees survive if this all comes to fruitition.

Suze63 I think its lovely of you to even consider doing this but is this your decision or your guests request? I wouldnt even consider moving my dog out (at my expense) for a guest. Could the situation be a good way for both the child and the dog to overcome their issues? Maybe if you can contact a trainer/behaviourist that can give you some pointers on how to manage introductions etc.

Tara.k I had surgery with Dr Sobeh in March and I am very happy, however my varicose vein was not visible but the results are great. Swelling in my foot (reason for surgery) has subsided substantially and i no longer have sore throbbing legs or restless legs. So as a result I would say that my circulation is much much better but I have also lost 15kgs this year so maybe its a combination of factors. Following the surgery, the site where he inserted the laser was very sensitive and numb, initially I couldnt feel anything by it slow became like pins and needles when you touched it but when I went for a pedicure I couldnt stand them touching where the numbness was. Slowly the numbness has subsided and today I have a very small area that is just a little numb. A colleague went to another surgeon 6 months prior to my op for the same surgery and he still has numbness and my brusing was nowhere near as bad as his. Tara if you want to talk off line about this I am happy to as I was very anxious before the surgery and I had absolutely no need to be.

Shop style is a hub/collection of all different stores and yes many deliver here but I usually use my shop and ship account if they dont deliver here. Shop Style have an ipad/iphone app so you can browse on line, its very addictive, you can set up alerts for when clothing or brands you like go on sale. Its very bad if you are a shopper. DH has deleted it off my iPad twice, lucky I know how to re-install it! I do most of my shopping online now.

My dog wasnt in there and I definitely wouldnt want some random stranger going in and "checking" out the dogs. I would definitely leave my boy there for a holiday. I wasnt too bothered about not being let in and Im sure if I pushed it or said I wanted to go in they would allow it. I liked the fact that they didnt allow me too, I have a fear (maybe irrational) that dogs are "cased" here for stealing and its my worst nightmare.

Woof - I went out yesterday and looked at their boarding arrangements whilst my dog was having a groom. They are in new larger premises and have what I thought was really good accommodation for the dogs, they have an outside area for small and large dogs and a pool. What I really liked was that they wouldnt let me go into the boarding areas, nor into the day care facility or the grooming area, its a staff only area, but I could see into the areas and the dogs were all happy, no howling or crying and there were staff in the area at all times. We have boarded our dog for 10 days at their last facility a few years ago and were really happy with them. We got regular updates on how he was doing and when our boy came home he wasnt too traumatised which wasnt the case at one of the other facilities in Dubai.

uaeexpat, you are able to request a copy of the register of members of the fund in accordance with the corporations law. This would be to the current responsible entity, I cant remember what information is included, its been a while since I worked in that area, but you should be able to ascertain how many of the those are located in the UAE and that should help with identifying investors based here, but you are also bound by the privacy laws so it could be a challenge. You may also find that the contact details are through the financial advisor so that could also pose a little roadblock. Ideally ASIC and the Responsible Entity should be your contact and also you can try annoying the Custodian.

http://www.lminvestmentadministration.com/ Ladies I have just found this website above which has some information about the status of the funds, including the two you have mentioned. If you go to the FAQ page there are a lot of answers to the questions. Also suggest contacting the adviser who recommended these products to you and get them to do the leg work. edited by littleone on 18/09/2013

I havent been affected but your best bet will to be in contact with ASIC [url=http://www.asic.gov.au/'>link[/url'> . On the LM website it says that the manager (responsible entity) and not the fund has collapsed and by law the assets of the fund should be held by a custodian on behalf of the investors of the said fund. (edited to add: this means that the assets are separate from the manager) ASIC should be able to direct you to who will replace the "Responsible Entity" aka LM as the manager. On the LM website it advises that FTI Consulting have been appointed the voluntary administrators and they should also be able to direct you to who will manage the Fund or at least the status of the Fund and its underlying assets. Good luck. edited by littleone on 18/09/2013

I think it was around 600, but I had a consultation with the Dr so it was more. I am VERY happy with the results, I was looking for smaller pores, better skin tone and reducing of sun damage. I will need a course of treatments which I will do, but am off to the maldives for the long EID so there is no point in doing it now! Tanning defeats the purpose of the treatment. There was absolutely no down time and could liken it to having a microdermabrasion but I guess it depends on your pain threshold. I didn't find it uncomfortable but I have had laser before and I found that painful. The results are gradual and I had no expectations to see an immediate effect but I was pleasantly surprised because I looked like I was glowing. Had someone say the next day that my skin looked amazing and I looked rested. I'm very pleased with my treatment and my experience at Elite in general, the Dr wasn't pushy and I asked loads of questions. It was also nice and reassuring for me to hear the Dr say I didn't need a procedure that I asked about. He also wanted loads of family history for a possible test I need to have but won't recommend the test until he gets the info. Nice not having product or treatments pushed on you.

We had friends who returned from Libya recently and their experience was both good and bad. They had to leave quickly following unrest, they loved their time there but it just became unsafe and they HAD to leave. The salary package they were offered was unreal as were their stories about life there, even grocery shopping was a challenge. The fact that they slept with a AK47 in their bedroom put me off.

I use Comfort and had always used it then one day we did a wash with all our blacks and the whole wash smelled revolting. Have never washed his running gear with anything else since. How old is your running gear? Maybe this fabric goes wiffy as a sign to get new stuff.

its your running gear not the detergent. DH's running gear always had that same smell and I read somewhere if you use fabric softner on that lycra type of fabric it makes it smell. I was it on its own and when it was really woofy I did a vinegar wash for it. Ultimately the running gear gets tossed when its gone to the woofy stage.

A friend of ours used Snoopy to relocate 2 dogs from Libya to Dubai. They sent them ahead of time and came to us prior to them arriving. Snoopy were excellent, they rang us to make sure we would be there for drop off both dogs had been washed before coming to us and they were very happy and not traumatised at all. They were in constant contact with our friends and the lady (sorry I cant remember her name) rang me and our friends a few days afterwards to check how they had settled in. If and when we move back home I will be using Snoopy.

I would recommend you consult with a hairdresser before you actually start the process. Depending on how dark your hair and the underlying tonings you may not be able to go blonde immediately. Naturally I have very dark brown hair which has red undertones and it has taken me three years to go blonde without too much damage to my hair and my hairdresser would only let me go blonde because I take care of it. I had a colleague who wanted to go blonde straight away and the consequences were disasterous. She now has the thinnest of hair as much of it broke off and she has to do intensive treatments twice a week to get it back to some sort of health. She cant wear it down and she is really depressed after having long shiny healthy hair to short straggly dull hair. If you really want to do this go and see a few hairdressers and listen to their recommendations then go with one that you are comfortable with. Also if you have had henna in your hair even 10 years ago, let them know because it can really impact how your hair takes to the dye and it may just become an orange frizzy brittle mess!
