I am up for a coffee! What sort of days/times work best for you? I am usually free in the day as I am home with baby no.1...not sure if you guys are working though?

We went on a tour on a Saturday at 1pm, they were also doing one at 3pm. That was a little while ago though, it might be best to just call and check? I am definitely delivering at al zahra. I think where the confusion happens is that there is a branch of al zahra in dubai that doesn't do delivery (I called them once too and they said Sharjah). The new-ish Al Zahra hospital in al barsha is the big one, where they do the whole lot!

Psengh your due date is the same as mine! Just had my anomaly too, all fine. Baby was wriggling so much while we had the scan. Lovely to see in 3D too. We didn't have that for my first baby!

Hiya. Yeah I am with dr yamini at al zahra. All going well at the moment. This is my first dubai pregnancy (no.2 baby though) and I am dreading the heat too! Back to the UK for July but will be here for august! I think staying indoors is mostly the plan. Pool first thing in the morning, then activities that involve AC only!

Hope you enjoy the scans ladies! Not sure when mine is yet, I am bit late going for my check up and booking in for mine as we've had lots of guests in a row. We won't find out whether it is a girl or boy though. We didn't last time either. Sort of considered it more this time but decided to wait and see. Baby is wriggling around like crazy though. Feels like it is so much further on than we thought, maybe it is just because it is baby no. 2! kakajo, I am delivering at al zahra with dr yamini. Anyone bought anything for the new one? I was super organised with my first but haven't shopped at all for this one yet.

Hi! We are a dead quiet month on here at the moment! I have gone with al zahra as I have no insurance either and their packages were reasonable. I felt really happy with them after a tour round. A few other places have sensible ish packages, including the government hospital Latifa. It is meant to be good, just really far away from where I live! How is everyone getting on? I can feel mine wriggle occasionally now, but it is my second, I didn't feel my first this early on!

The downs screening is 1200aed. After that I don't know, as I've only just started. But Dubai Newbie says nothing else costs extra, so fingers crossed. It will cost more if you need extra things not included in the package, but that is mostly if something was to go amiss in the pregnancy meaning you need extra radiology scans or medications. Which we all hope won't happen anyway.

Hi! I have just started the antenatal package at Al Zahra. All good so far. But I was just wondering how many extras are likely to pop up that aren't included? We know the downs screening isn't included. Are the scans in the radiology department included though? The information says the package includes 1 anomaly scan (20 weeks) and 2 ultrasound (clinic). When and what are the two in the clinic? I don't mind paying for a few extra bits, but I could do with them not being a surprise! TIA

This is always such a pain! We have ended up asking friends to drive us and they have had the car seat then. Dubai taxis rta, say that they will send a car seat but don't always and then you are stuck with either risking being late for the flight while you wait for another taxi or risking it with the baby on your lap. Apparently Careem cars (you can find them on google) are reliable though, I know plenty of people have used them, so will be doing this next time!

Destination Maternity in Marina Mall is good, they did have a brilliant sale so I stocked up, not sure if it still going or not. They have a lovely range with lots of different designers. I got some other more basic bits from Mothercare and H&M as well.

I was feeling pretty awful too, although was fine last pregnancy, but it has all cleared off now and feeling much better.I don't do prenatal yoga, although I have heard great things, but I do swim a lot through pregnancy which is brilliant, especially once you get big! And I use a birthing ball to do pregnancy exercises with, which you can find on YouTube! There are a few prenatal yoga classes around, so def have a look.

Hi! Congratulations! I am due September too! It is my second baby but my first in dubai. I have gone for the antenatal and delivery package at Al Zahra. Mostly because I want as natural as poss, they are very midwife-led and their package price is very reasonable. You can go and have a look around and ask loads of questions before you book though. Ask around as lots of people have recommendations for good obstetricians and hospitals. Hope you are feeling ok!

My waters went but nothing else happened so I was induced. I was really worried but it was all fine. 7 hour labour, no pain relief. I know the waters breaking might have helped, but the contractions really weren't coming! Keeping walking up and down stairs and bouncing on a birthing ball meanwhile!! But don't worry too much, an induction doesn't necessarily mean anything different, it all just depends, like with every birth.

That is the worst! Can't actually help with the formula, but mine is on Aptamil 1 and happily took cow and gate 1 when we were away and couldn't get it. He doesn't react well to the other versions on Aptamil though. So the Aptamil might work if you are really stuck?

My 9 month baby is mostly on finger foods now and I hardly feed him at all. Have a look at annabel karmel's website or books as she tells you what stuff can be frozen. Chicken or fish meatballs freeze and microwave well and you can add veggies into the mix for that. I usually give mine fresh fruit and veg that doesn't need any cooking during the week. Avocado, strawberries, orange, banana, tomatoes etc and then give him things like carrot and broccoli when I have more time. Cheese, toast, boiled egg, pitta and hummus, all are great quick foods too. Hope that helps a bit!

Congratulations! I would just do whatever you were planning on doing anyway as far as possible! Don't feel like you need to stay in a place you know if you are ready to move. You can use forums in the new country to get advice from mums there. Whatever you decide, try not to worry too much, everything tends to turn out for the best in the end and just enjoy being pregnant!

You will have to decide what is right for your family. I chose to stay home and take the financial hit because I didn't want to miss anything and my husband and I both felt this was right for us. But don't forget to take everything into account. It can sometimes be a bit boring, no matter how much you love being with baby, they do sleep a lot! And you have to make more effort to find adult conversation! If I was making the decision again I would still choose to stay home, but I don't think it will affect your relationship with your child in the long run. You can make time to be a loving family on the weekend.

The recommended dr at al zahra seems to be dr yamini, and that was who the midwife there recommended too. Some of the other mums might have better knowledge though! Definitely let me know what you think!

Hi Inti! Totally understand how you feel. We've been in Dubai since September and have just found out we are pregnant with our second baby. But it is so different here to in the UK. This forum is mega helpful so have a look around!! We have just been on the tour at Al Zahra and loved it, as it is very pro natural birth and midwife led, which is what I had last time. We don't have insurance either and their package seems reasonable compared to some of the others (although this baby will still be an expensive one...it better be good haha). We thought it seemed less confusing going to the same place for antenatal and delivery too! I have no actual experience to help you with though as I'm in the same boat! x

Is City the mediclinic city hospital? Do you mind saying why you picked them? It seems a bit far for away for us, but then a lot of people have good things to say about it!

Thanks for the info! We called about tours and are going on Saturday at 1pm. There is another one leaving at 3pm on the same day. We were told to just turn up 5 minutes before. Maybe see some of you there!

You are right, the majority of schools will want him in the correct year for his age group and this would be ideal for him long term as well. I can help, I am a teacher but am currently tutoring. Where are you located?

Sorry, I'm afraid he is booked up with staff meetings and the like the week. Clairehdp is right, I totally understand you wanting to do everything to help him do well, but there is something to be said for him sitting them as he stands, it will allow the school to help him more. Hope everything goes well though :)

It might be a bit short notice, but I can ask when he gets home and I will let you know either way. Otherwise I would suggest looking at some practice papers online.

Hi! My husband is a secondary maths teacher and would possibly be able to tutor your child for GCSE. Where in Dubai are you?
