[b'>Did anyone read how the female victim ended up being shot?[/b'> I read that the male victim lost his life as he tried to overpower the hostage-taker, so go shot in the fight. But, I did not read any claim that the hostage-taker shot the female, only that she had been killed. Was it a case of police going in shooting, and she was hit in the crossfire? As it said they went in shooting, throwing brandades. The entire siege was farcical on the hostage-takers behalf. 6 people escaped, he took the wrong flag so one of his negotiation requests was for the ISIS flag... come on. The police could have walked in at 10am or snuck in in free clothes, armed, (apparently there was an easy entry/exit point if 6 people broke free) and taken him down. The #illridewithyou hashtag is a very lovely thing for the public to do. Just read that the poor woman died in hospital of a heart attack. No mention of her being shot. Very sad. If they can show that had it not been for the stress of that day that she may not have had a heart attack, they could pin that on the hostage-taker. It does not surprise me that people thumbed the link down. I have said it once and will always stand by it, there are a lot of people living here who put on a fake face when they walk to the door who are very against the practices here. Really? "pin that on the hostage taker"? So inappropriate and uncalled for, people have died, give it a rest with the political agenda. In the US a guy has just gunned down a whole family, this stuff happens all over the world, why do people need to make it into something else? This had nothing to do with Dubai so why even try to insinuate/mention that there is some sort of connection? This ignorant mentality is what propagates divide and intolerance. It is called a chain of causation in laws. And the prosecution, and on behalf of her loved ones who will want this man away for as long as possible, if "ut for" his actions, she may not have had that heart attack, then he can be charged with manslaughter. Are you really this insensitive? The man is dead for goodness sake, he can not be prosecuted, did they not teach that in law school? You have been asked by several posters now to pull back and not continue with diatribe, yet you continue. All that needs to be said is rest in peace those who lost their lives, condolences to all the family members and may everyone involved have the strength to regain some normality in their lives, and that includes all the police, ambulance crews, fire crews, and of course all the hostages and their families. A sad day for Australia.

People have died and endured a terrible ordeal, no one needs ignorant comments about what the police should have done!

I am almost in tears watching the #illridewithyou feed. Please people, check out this article. It will make you feel all sorts of warm/fuzzy/proud/sad feelings. http://www.buzzfeed.com/alanwhite/australians-offer-to-ride-to-work-with-people-in-religious-a?utm_term=4ldqpia This is beautiful... beats me how 4 people can be against it... how can anyone on a forum like EW be against the message of love and tolerance...! Quite easily. A knee jerk reaction and based on the eveidence so far this was one lone fuitcase known to authorities, not an organised terror plot.

Yeah they are con artists and you will never see a bird. The local pet stores will have them and you have to arange testing, there are also local breeders so no need to import. Most in pet stores are around five months. Contact Nad Al SHeba vets they may know of a breeder or be able to advise further as they are brid specialists. edited by Lolacat on 12/12/2014

Yep, Southern hemisphere kids normally end up going back a year when joing the Northern hemisphere schools. It's quite normal and the curriculums are quite different. No Brit Curric school will let you join in year 11 as this is a final exam year, nearly everyone will have to re do year 10. It's not too big a deal, there are quite a few older South African teens in sixth forms here because of this issue.

One word ..Divorce. What bothers you more, the fact your husband controls everything or the fact he calls you nuts? In fact that is a trick question because both are totally unacceptable. Forget all the nonsense written about how marriage should be on this thread. The bottom line is this is another who is meant to love you, and in the real world people who love each other don’t behave in this way. Empower yourself or spend a life being bullied.

Well then go ask them in jail what happened. Really? How can anyone live here and not understand the laws, you are not immune from the law because you are an expat. The OPs friend obviously does realise it is illegal and she is not immune as she is asking for advice on here. The only foolproof method of avoiding pregnancy is celibacy, do you really expect every unmarried person residing here to be celibate? Contraception is not a guarantee and mistakes can happen, it doesn't always mean someone is ignorant of the law or foolish. Daza, yes i expect residents not to break the law. If the mistake as you call it happens then it does not take a brain surgeon to work out that you need to get on a plane or get hutched asap. Asking advice? Hmm, that is only done by someone tryong to bend the rules. The rules and clear the consequences severe, what doesn't anybody get?

I think 16AED is great value, and I would be happy to pay more for good organic food. That's nearly 3000 dhs per year extra. I would also question that that price is not correct. edited by Lolacat on 09/12/2014

But what more expertise do they bring to child nutrition? And this is the big question. This celebrity chef in schools trend is quite big in the USA. But shouldn't and wouldn’t it be far more impressive if schools employed child nutritionists and designed meals based on children’s actual needs? Taking into account individual children within a school who need more specific catering. Anyone who has ever been to a top restaurant knows that the food is prepared and cooked without a care to fat content/calories etc., it's all about taste, bring on the butter, goose fat, salt and pepper. Do schools really need to bring in such ideas to market their schools? What does that say about the people running a school? So when should we be expecting the appearance of maids and butlers to serve the little darlings their celebrity cooked dinerkins?

Hi, can anyone tell how is works here in the government hospital, if someone falls pregnant before they married but say gets married 3mnths or later into their pregnancy. Would the hospital give you any problems that you weren't actually married when you conceived? Where can you get advice on this? Anyone had this and delivered fine in a government hospital? Thank you Say 3 month or later? lol Well then go ask them in jail what happened. Really? How can anyone live here and not understand the laws, you are not immune from the law because you are an expat. Yes in a goverment hospital they will question the dates and could report you, it would not be a first. Even now if you are pregnant and unmarried you should solve the issue in some way fast. If you don't want to marry the father then leave now. You want advice go to your embassy and ask them, they will spell it out really clearly for you. I've used [b'>you[/b'>, but i think you are asking for someone else? edited by Lolacat on 08/12/2014

Friends back home are averaging 2500 dhs/month equivalent for a family of 3 - 4 for groceries. The highest grocery spenders were those who buy a lot of chocolate/chips/packaged foods. Those who cook themselves spent less. (I asked people what they are spending back home to get an idea) That reflects the cost of living here when shopping at say Geant, Coop, C4 etc. It is well below if you want to shop at Choithrams, Spinneys, Waitrose but that is optional. At the end of the day, you can afford to live here but it is no longer a case of living here without budgeting for many families.. And searching for the best prices matters now. There is no way i would spend the amount i spend here anywhere else, I'm always taken aback when i shop in Europe for food at how much cheaper food is, especially meat and veg.

I wonder why every single post got several thumbs down? LOL. Some people are really so pathetic, I imagine them at home scrolling through every single thread on EW and giving thumbs down. Thank God I have a life! They should try getting one too :) We are getting thumbed down because we are talking about Islamic schools. Many people reading do not like the idea. Yes i think you are correct Anon, for many it is alien to want an islamic school, most focus on academics and pastoral. I have many friends who are muslim and send their children to Uk curriculum schools here, some are very devout but still feel a balance can be found between their religion, beliefs and education. So yes for many they question and thumbs down.

A couple of things to try, Boots the chemist or ask someone to bring in some Gripe water, i'm sure i have seen it here. Make sure you are eating foods that don't cause gas......google can help with that, I know that greens in particular can have quiet an explosive effect, so double check your own diet. Make sure baby is latched on correctly and not taking in air and that you burp baby regularly in between and after drinking really well. Good luck, it will pass.

. Long time ago I went to a male dentist once. Didn't like it, a guy poking around in my mouth even though he was wearing gloves. As long as thee are female dentists, doctors, mani pedicurists, midwives, or any profession that requires touching any part of my body ( and profession does not include marriage as I am sure you all understand) I will not have a man do it, again, unless I am dying and need urgent medical care. Oh yes nothing worse than having a guy poking around and the taste of rubber in your mouth!

Do you have your orginal contract where the salary was stated how it was split? Is your contract still valid or did you resign a new contract? Is your school under one of the freezones like Tecom? My understanding is they have lawyers who can give advice about such matters and raise a case against the school. Obviously this is a way the school is trying to reduce gratuity payments.

Hi, there, OP and welcome to Dubai and huge congratulations on the positive pregnancy test! I am too old to have given birth here, but if I'd been pregnant now, I would have chosen Dr Jennifer, who is at Mediclinic, Al Garhoud. http://www.mediclinic.ae/DoctorDetails.aspx?drid=319 She's a lovely, down to earth, lady and even though she is from the US, as someone who, like you, is from the UK, I think I can safely tell you that you will appreciate her manner and care. Good luck and congratulations again! Simples that's a classic of a post...........

Did they do nails? Sorry Joyce, massive divert, this is more interesting than a bearded ozzie baby deliverer [strike'>who was great[/strike'>. How does one become a mortuary Cosmo thingy? What made them want to choose the non-living? Yes, the nails are important as they are quite visible with the hands placed on the chest. Usually their are instructions left by the recently departed. Failing that, you do as the family wishes or keep things as natural as possible. They do have to be done, because skin recedes..almost like they grow, but they don't really grow. Often a funeral director, or a junior director will do posthumous cosmetics, however sometimes their spouse will do it, or they will hire from an agency if it is a particularly tricky job. The hair is usually sourced out to an agency. Beebs you have such a way with words........ Now prey tell what you were doing to know all this morbid information?
