I am a Registered Nurse (who really isn't into alternative treatment), but I started having terrible Gall Bladder spasms last October. They did an Ultrasound and found "sludge" in my gall bladder and discussed elective removal of my gall bladder. I was averaging about 3 attacks a week with constant general pain. I recommend a gall bladder cleanse. I took 2 days off work did it. It was WELL worth it. It had apple juice, olive oil and lemon juice, check it out online. Hopefully you have the same luck I did! Why would you drag up an old thread to post this? http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/gallstones/expert-answers/gallbladder-cleanse/faq-20058134 edited by Lolacat on 23/08/2014

Do you have a schooling allowance/budget? What curriculum is your year 10 presently following? Did your Year 10 have any ideas as to options, language choices, A'Level ? Do your kids actually want to move? Are you aware just how much schooling costs here? Will your children move to a totally new country with ease? Think very hard about the above questions especially re your teens. WSO does not do A'levels. If looking for Brit curriculum look at DESC, JESS Ranches Dubai College, English College, Dubai British School. However, you could have real problems finding spaces for your year 10 in a school here.

Tupperware; symbol of domestic drudgery of the housewife or freedom to enter the world of business for women in the 50's? Personally I have only ever endured one TP and that was an unexpected surprise, an experience i concluded as about as exciting as mud-wrestling an angry hippo having had my eyes plucked out by an angry pygmy following an SA assault course. If anyone wants Tupperware they buy it from a shop, a simple exercise executed quickly and without needless pain.

Beacuae Lolakitty, we all need to hold hands and hug each other - even when stupidity to the zenith degreee is expressed..... we must all love each other, do you not know this yet? Money only grows if you have a lot of it. Small investments that are safe never gain high returns. Why not write your question into the National newspaper? Or contact Holborn Assets a very reputable company and ask their advice. Whatever you do be very careful where you seek your advice and what you sign up to.

No mumcurious, they really did need to delete those threads and probably even more. The information is seriously outdated, many businesses have changed. There was a time when posters posted far too much personal information on a public forum which is, never a good thing. With the media regulations continually evolving what was perhaps (?) appropriate then is not now. EW should have annual clear outs IMHO. All publicity is good, be that negative or positive and this forum gained a lot of traffic from some of the more gritty threads. Back to OP - if this forum is JUST "where can i get a du sim card from" then it is very, very, very boring and the reaming 5 old time users will not bother checking in. Then you will have a bunch of newbies asking and trying to answer inane questions.... the only reason 99% of old time users pop in for the hope of something juicy, or a good ole "i slice my maid's mango" thread...... Noone pops in to give you love and kisses about your nail polish / fake nails - whatever the h£ll shellac are ;) I am really curious about these 'sliced mango' and 'cucumber' threads which so many of the old posters rave about. Seems some of us missed some really great/entertaining threads. have tried to search but with no luck :-( The sliced mango thread is an urban legend. It got started by me about 5 years ago and was then embellished upon by other users, as usual.... The cucumber thread did happen, but that seemed to be a wind-up. EW deletes their old threads after a few years, which is why you will never find them... Which is a complete blessing and they should delete every year as the information changes at such a rate.

Gem I found this article, not sure whether it is worth you writing to the journalist and asking if you could contact the lady in the article and see who she has managed to see here. Also consider asking your GP who they recommend for a child neurologist here who may be able to help. Also look up support groups in other countries that may be able to help and advise where to go if you are in a position to travel. I'm sure the US and UK would have some specialists you could go and see. http://www.thenational.ae/uae/health/emirati-woman-tells-of-the-curse-of-tourettes-syndrome It may be worth contacting the http://www.americanchildneurologyuae.ae/ as well. https://www.facebook.com/ACNCUAE edited by Lolacat on 20/08/2014

Some years ago I was advised by a vet in Dubai to feed my ailing Siamese with a meat he had not previously ingested, camel or goat was suggested. Since I thought it unlikely to find camel in the local supermarket, and baulked at visiting the camel market and asking for "a pound of your best mince" I asked several people in various stores and each time got the same answer. I was told that "Indian" mutton or lamb was in fact goat..............having bought it and tried it I can assure you that it was just that, the flavour is quite distinctive. On the same counter were meats simply labelled "Lamb" and "Mutton", and they were most definitely sheep. Well technically both Goats and sheep are closely related, both are of the subfamily, Caprinae.

In local Arabic, there is no differentiation in meat. The word "lahm" could mean beef, goat, lamb, camel, etc. Maybe the person doing the labeling is confused. Arh well you see Anon it is whatever you wish it to be. Next time you shop for your meat ask which way the tail pointed and then all will be revealed.

Attacked? Really what utter nonsense, people who are being attacked are hardly writing on a forum now are they? Let's just have a little reality check here; there are families being attacked in the news not soo far from here, having their relatives massacred in front of them, being made homeless and orphaned, then there are women being raped in the name of war and children left with no food in their tummies, no medical treatment and their homes wrecked, gone forever. Those people are being attacked and so are all the others in the world who are living in war zones. Attacked are people who have no freedom of speech, born of the wrong colour of religion. Attacked are those who recently got blown out of the sky. Attacked is not a word to be used in receiving a few snarky comment on a forum! Really there is far more to life than this place. Lolacat love, what is wrong with you. Yesterday you were denying non British nationals the right to discuss your Royals and claiming to know it all, lecturing Genie on her understanding of etiquette. Just to be clear. Good then you can not be upset by what gets written on here because when you rest your head on that nice fluffy pillow at night with food in your belly you know there are people far worse off in the world and it puts it all into perspective doesn't it?

Thank you ladies for your replies. Most helpful. Managed to speak to another Orthopaedic surgeon here who seems to agree with the other consultant in Dubai and we feel happier with the approach now.Thank you also for your recommendations. Just make sure that the new surgeon has seen the xrays or takes some more before taking the cast off. I would also be contacting the UK surgeon to double check, two agreements don't always make a right, sorry to say.

[ The Brits are known for being self depreciating? Where on earth do you get that idea? Perhaps changing one's social circles may be in order. Errr... yes. Fyi: "Self-deprecation is a trait that permeates British culture. It is a national characteristic - evident in a sense of history that, possibly uniquely, dwells on 'glorious' failures (the Charge of the Light Brigade, Dunkirk, Scott's race against Amunsden). The British have a horror of what they call 'blowing your own trumpet', and are deeply averse to earnestness, pomposity and self-importance. Statements that, in another culture, would simply be attributed as confident expressions of self-esteem, are misinterpreted in Britain as boastful and self-aggrandising. If you want to avoid being misunderstood, learn to downplay your attributes and resort wherever possible to understatement. People will read between the lines and admire your modesty. - See more at: http://www.debretts.com/british-etiquette/british-behaviour/r-s/self-deprecation#sthash.doprX6Sw.dpuf". Maybe you could also google the average age for the Daily Fail readership at the same time to back up your quote? If you mean the Brits arn't BRASH, outspoken and loudmouths, yes you have a point.

You should also be aware that discussing your thoughts about British Protocol and our Queen when not a British national is really not on and most Brits will take great umbrage. Of all the most ridiculous comments ever. I'll discuss your queen and their queen and any other person if I so choose. Just as it's perfectly acceptable to discuss our presidents and first ladies. Take great umbrage if you want to but I don't really care one iota. Really? Again it comes down to respect, and as such i will hold my tongue in response. Yes, really. And definitely not sure how all of this relates to Indians and their maids! I agree... the thread went off on a tangent because someone mentioned that India (with its caste system) wasn't that different to the UK with its respect for the royals and obsession with class differences. I pointed out that that was a very outdated view of Britain and, by way of example, mentioned that many ppl would not curtsey to the queen as our society no longer expects us too. Then another poster got vert upset and launched into a 1950s-style tirade on how wonderful the royals were. All v amusing! The points made were about protocols and respect, shall i Google translate my posts into US English to see if that helps with the comprehension. lol
