She is en employee and as such you as every employer does, has a set of expectations and code of conduct that should be adhered to whilst under your employment. This is not exclusive to Dubai, throughout the world employes are expected to behave in certain ways whilst on and off duty whilst employees for certain companies/individual employers. She is a member of your domestic staff and as such you have every right to set guidelines of expected behavior and dress codes. If you find her behavior or dress unacceptable then you must address the issue and make it clear that whilst under your employment what your expectations are. Should she wish to act like a petulant child or disregard your requests/rules then she loses her employment with you, it really is very simple. <em>edited by Lolacat on 23/07/2014</em>

Dear Ladies, I am also confused with my post and don't know how to summarise my query. Anyway I am married to a British and all our certs have been attested. My husband has his work permit/residency visa granted 3 weeks ago and as soon as he's got his visa he then apply for my visa and I have to leave UAE while my visa in the process. Then the UAE immigration requesting to interview my husband for my visa application as well as request a letter of non objection from British embassy that our marriage is valid. This is seems to be new law introduce last week based on my husband's company HR claimed. This whole query is related to the immigration process in Abu Dhabi so I am not sure if Dubai is the same as some of my friend doesn't seem to have the same request from immigration as mine. Regards Oh dear, sounds complicated, better pop to Brit embassy and see what they can do to help.

We downsized after the last downturn and still managed to find a perfect villa, it is doable. But here is the thing if you are in debt and going into more debt due to rental costs you have to take a large dose of reality and make some hard choices. Unless your pet is small for me an apartment is not a consideration.

Thrilled to be called "young" Dally, but sorry I'll still pass on eating at such places. I did eat or should I say attempt to eat at one such buffet restaurant quite a few years ago and deep fried chicken feet and other dubious dishes were available. But since I am recently recovering from cancer I am getting very particular in sourcing my food options as much as practicable. Pesticides that have been proven to be carcinogenic and banned in many western countries are still widely used in Pakistan, India, China etc I therefore boycott these foods suppliers as much as possible. - sorry if this thread has gone slightly off topic. Glad you are on the mend Dally and i could not agree more about sourcing quality food.

Two adults and two kids aged 11 and 13, never spend more then AED 150 on a meal for four of us and frequent places like Carlucios. We use Entertainer vouchers etc. often keep it not much above AED100. It can easily be done. I'm not sure how a family of four can eat in Carlucios or similar for that price and have a descent meal!

Not allowed to enter Dubai? There is no border between AD and Dubai? Agree with Cornish Pixie, your post is not very clear as the the actual issue. If your Marriage cert has been attested there should not be any issue or if you have been sponsored previously under a UAE visa.

congratulations! Babies with colic are exhausting but have no fear this time will pass. For excellent family GP's i can highly recommend; Dr Carol Smiley at Healthbay clinic Mirdiff, (very close Business bay) Dr. Saima Sheikh at Medicentre motor city, both highly qualified experienced British GP's who are both mothers so will fully understand and be able to help point you in the right direction. Here are the links http://healthbayclinic.com/dr-carol-smylie.html http://www.medicentres.ae/doctors.html There is also Dr Loubser, Dr Keith Nichol and Dr Sue Norton who are regularly recommended on this site for family medicine. If he is farting a lot he has wind, therefore check he is being winded well and sucking properly and you have increased the nipple size as per his age for the bottle. Also gripewater can help, if you can get it. Reflux they often grow out of but discuss this more with your doctor. Finding the right doctor you trust who can support you will make a huge difference. <em>edited by Lolacat on 21/07/2014</em>

To date it is just the most awful coincidence that it is another MA plane, hardly their fault. It's reported the plane was flying where most others were and not in a zone where it should not have been, no pilot error. It could have been anyone of us that fly back and forth. Of course both sides are denying responsibility, but sooner or later the truth will come out and those who are responsible must be held accountable by the world. It's heartbreaking to see the reports of those who have lost their lives in such a needless tragedy, the DM has a picture of the three gorgeous oz children who were traveling back with their GF whilst their parents (give them strength) enjoyed a few days more in Amsterdam. Just how any parent ever overcomes such grief and tragedy is beyond my comprehension. So many children on the flight, so many innocent people. It's just horrendous; innocent lives lost for what? Another ****** needless war. RIP, condolences and strength to all their families during this terrible time.

Thanks a lot to all of you. I fly quite a lot (every 2-3 weeks) and i'll try to hydrate more and eat better. Last year i did a heart check as a lot of people told me that my HR if quite high when I exercise - i can easily get up to 170bpm. After quite a few tests (3D scan, EKG resting and on treadmill, Thyroid blood test and Holter for 24hrs) the Dr told me i do not have a heart condition and my Blood pressure doesnt variate regardless of the effort level i am at - which i thought was good. I'll go to see a GP -[b'> any recommendations[/b'>? I have a pretty good Health Insurance policy that covers most of the hospitals and clinics here in Dubai. Dr Carole Smiley at Mirdiff Healthbay clinic, the Healthbay group also have a great cardiologist who is sounds as if you need to see.

I just paid 4500AED in fines, I'll kick myself if a disc out is offered in a few weeks. The pedal on the right regulates the speed, try lifting the knee slightly to release the pressure on this peddle and watch your fines disappear by magic.

It's not acceptable and anyone who is this difficult should not be in their position. Write to the owner of the nursery and orgainse a meeting to discuss your concerns. Document any issues and responses. Ask other parents to do the same!

With due respect i'm not sure anyone can answer the OP actual question as each individual situation is unique. What works for some doesn't work for others. Also with due respect I really don't think anyone can comment on marriage until they have actually been married, dating is not the same! OP i think you need to work out why you want to get married, is it just to have children?

Yes you do. Write a letter with your full names and passport details and contact details and the details of the children and who you have given permission to travel with them on your behalf. They might never be asked but if they do get stopped going into the UK it will be a hassle for them.

thank you turkishdervish :) .. That also sounds a nightmare sorry to hear that! Yes, the fact that you have a years lease is just suffocating, I am sure if I rang the landlord and played him my recordings on my phone etc we would have a case, maybe not, but he does state in the contract he can take 2 months rent for leaving early so don't want to take that risk! Feel like I am losing my mind but reading these stories that all worked out in the end I just need to be patient! That's terrible, you must contact the police and keep doing so, with Ramadan coming up any unsocial or inappropriate behaviour will not be looked upon favorably.

Once my children are adults, if they tell me they are going to Amsterdam and are planning on visiting a coffee shop, no, I won't be horrified. Bands have been getting up to such things for a long time, previous generations seemed to cope with their idols not being whiter than white without all having to emulate them and turn in to a generation of delequints. There is no reason the youth of today can't cope too. I'm sorry i disagree and believe as a society such behaviour should not be rewarded or encouraged. To add if everyone has that attitude where do you draw the line? What poor behaviours do you feel are acceptable for their fans to witness? These young performers should have management teams who guide them and make sure they stay good role models. Sadly most go on to suicide or go completely off the rails later on, it simply is not ok. <em>edited by Lolacat on 29/05/2014</em>

Hello. I'm looking for a nursery for my son and someone from the new Foremarke school mentioned Dovecote nursery. I was wondering if anyone has been sending their LO there and have some feedback to give. Other nurseries I've seen are Toddler town and Kids Island. I would appreciate anyone would share their review on any of these nurseries. Thanks. They are owned and managed by the same group. Why not visit and ask lots of questions and see if it is the right place for your child as such decisions are very personal. I have only heard positive feedback about this particular nursery.

A little taken aback here by the it's k if you are a celeb to smoke what you want and behave like a complete pillock. Wow no wonder society and so many youth are so confused! Parents have soo much to answer for. Didn't buy tickets, wouldn't buy tickets and actually found the sell out quite farcical. I'm of the view that it is perfectly ok for anyone, celeb or not, to smoke something if they are in a country that legally entitles them to do so. As for behaving like a complete pillock, the word should not have been used and he should apologise for it. So you would be ok for your kids to have that attitude and allow them to to do drugs because in that country it is legal? You are ok that role models behave in such ways?

I am not asking about the 50 degree rule which is in all GCC and rarely ever reached! If you re read the question i am asking if KHDA have a ruling about whether there is a ruling that at certain temperatures the kids are not allowed o be outside for play/pick up and sports or at least have a choice. I am not asking of a school has to close. 50 degree rule has nothing to do with this at all.

So this obviously also implicates those in villas who pay a gardener a few hundred dhs every month to water / tend to their garden? No it does not as they are employed by companies who have a different license, like agency maids.

The real feel was 44 today and it was hot! I know the rules for everything else, i was wondering if there were offical rules that schools had to keep children in during certain times during high temperatures. Running around playing sport in today heat at midday just seems silly to me and an unnecessary risk.

Thank you ladies. I was hoping to keep them together in one campus if I could? How about Repton, any opinions? I do accept that these are individual opinions but it would be helpful to get both positive and negative feedback if possible. DESC and DESS do not have places in the relevant year groups, JESS are not accepting applications. Kings only in their new campus. I am a little reluctant to try a new school start up as I have seen the teething problems that go with this in their current school. Many thanks :-) That school can not be discussed. Kings will be fine, as will Safa, Nord Anglia. Some schools still have "teething problems" that are a few years old and some are still under construction or expanding.
