As an employer i have always been open to my employees concerns and quite often these issues are best nipped in the bud and brought out into the open. I want effective working teams where my employees enjoy their work and put their energies into their work not negativity or feelings of insecurity. Whilst i agree you are there to work if this lady is being deliberately obtuse and undermining you then it needs transparency. If the issue is you need more training then so be it and approaching the issue head on will show you are intuitive and willing to learn. Totally remain professional and do not say or do anything that compromises you when dealing with the other woman. If you catch her out then document it. <em>edited by Lolacat on 10/04/2014</em>

My boss is really nice.But its just been a few weeks since I joined and he likes this lady. So will it look good I discuss it now? He may like her but he may also know she is tricky. I really think honesty in such situations is the best line, otherwise you will be miserable. Have you approached her directly about how you feel? Maybe have it out with her in a very professional way but voicing your concerns, also asking if there are areas you need to improve on and is this why she is cutting you out of the picture. If she is professional and the issue is not personal you will feel much better having had said chat, if she is being a batch then you go to the boss and voice your issues directly with him and then you can say you have spoken to her and these where her responses. Try not to get emotional, stay focused and professional and even write down what the issues are so you stay on track. <em>edited by Lolacat on 10/04/2014</em>

Wondering if anyone can follow up with what they think of Foremarke? We want to get baby's name down for schools as early as possible. Is it as large as Repton? What are the class sizes like? Is it worth double the fees of everywhere else?!! Why not look at Jess? or Nord Anglia.

No, Foremarke is nowhere near as big as Repton. Repton has 10 classes per year and I believe Foremarke only has 2. Very true. However it is only for now. The school capacity is for 8 classes per year with appr. 16 pupils per class. They ARE promising to grow slowly, not jumping from current 2 classes to 6 or 8 overnight - but there are no guarantees (apart from the currently prohibitive price)... The same promises as Repton when it came.

Jemi, you suggested that figure and i suggested this is not a school choice most westerners would be prepared to accept. This poster has to work rent and two sets of school fees out of that salary, if you had kids in secondary here you would understand that school fees eat up salaries.

I would look at Jebil Ali primary school and see if you can get places there first, look for accom near by. They filter into some good secondary schools here.

LT and NOmads advice about seeking help from Nad Al Sheba vets is spot on. I would aslo suggest you google for online training advice from the rest of the world, you can find quite a lot on the net and purchase books that help with training your parrot. Macaws are very tricky and need to be kept very stimulated and loved, they are normally one person birds. Also invest in a pair of leather gloves for handling .

Hi Veela - a bit confused. You initially said you were moving to Dubai but thinking of living in Sharjah. Now you are saying you have a job in AD? These are 3 different Emirates/cities and all very different. The commute can be 1- 1.5 hours from Dubai to AD or Dubai to Sharjah (They are in opposite directions - Dubai in middle) Dubai is most westernised and family friendly and has more major facilities. Abu Dhabi is developing fast but is a bit more conservative than Dubai but still some nice neighbourhoods but also expensive. Sharjah is more conservative (dry too) and traditional but less expensive. I wouldnt live there but some people dont mind the commute for the cheaper rent. Personally I wouldnt leave Croatia for Sharjah..... Dubai and AD - depends on your circumstances. Life here is nice but expensive so you need to budget carefully before you decide. School and rent are very costly.... The slary you mentioned wont go far with 3 kids unless school and/or accommodation are provided by company. If you have to pay 3 sets of school fees and accomodation that will probably eat up around 20k of your salary each month before cars/groceries/bills going out etc The best advice I can give you is to come over for a few days and look around before you decide anything. To make things clear: I was offered a job in AD for 37000 and one in Sharjah for 50000/month and considered taking the one in Sharjah and living in Dubai, then I saw the real estate market and thought we could live in Sharjah as well. Since it is close to Dubai on the map I thought that Dubai would be at our disposal on everyday basis. Schools make me nervous since my kids are 13, 10 and the youngest 3. My husband would be staying at home with the little one. Do you think it is doable on 50 000 AED without thinking "can we afford this"? I am not really coming there for the sake of the money, it would be nice to take something home in a couple of years, but I would be satisfied if my kids just learned perfect english and if we had easy life on that way. I think you are getting a great offer. The Sharjah one is even better than the Abu Dhabi offer because cost of living in Sharjah is lower than Abu Dhabi. Rents are higher in Abu Dhabi. However, you'll need to consider the job profiles as well to see which is better. You can find out about school costs by doing a google search. In general, school fees range from below 1000 AED per month to several thousand per month. I don't think school fees will be a problem with your salary. You can contact schools in advance and get information from them directly instead of trying to get information from a forum like this where you don't even know whether the people replying are truthful and sincere or not! Rents are not very high and with your salary you can easily pay the rent of a good apartment or villa in a good area. Sharjah rents are lower. You can learn about rents in gulfnews.com property section. If you need any other information, feel free to contact me. I believe you have gotten an excellent opportunity and should definitely go for it. I myself live in Dubai, pay 4000 AED rent for a fabulous 2BR apartment in a great area (although rents have increased now so the a similar apartment may cost newcomers some 6000 per month ) and my other monthly expenses are under 5000 AED. I do well on a budget of 10,000 AED. Your can expect something similar for rent and household expenses + children's school fees and car rental or installments, etc. You'll do great with the 50,000 salary and will do well with the 37,000 salary. Oh and by the way, there are people living here on salaries under 5000 AED so you should consider the offer you're getting a blessing. Definately go for it. If you like, you can ask for a shorter contract term to test the ground. edited by Jemi on 09/04/2014 You speak as someone who lives in an apartment without three sets of school fees to pay. The school fees and rent will be the deciding factor. Education for 1000 dhs a month is not exactly what most westerners feel adequate, to be diplomatic about it.

RuthM you don't train feral cats with aversion training, you respect mother nature and walk around the cat. I doubt your dogs would have a feral highly protective mother cat for breakfast either, there aren't many dogs stupid enough to get involved in such a situation regardless of what the owner believes (esp Labs). The reason for this is mother nature, one of the strongest and most powerful forces there is. The OP has been fantastic and assessed the situation and will now act accordingly, the issue is done with. To deliberately go and distress and pick a fight with a feral animal is cruel.

The point is that I am NOT considering it, but he cannot see why, as he knows people who parents (apparently) are. 13 is an age where they have good friends and yes I know and speak to their parents and for the most part we can dampen down their ideas. However, it's also an age where they need to have a certain amount of freedom (hard as it is, needs to be done) and inevitably they will meet others, and true or not the 'friends' always have it better. Freedom and teen boys in Dubai = trouble. Boys need sport or an activity to focus them and keep them on the straight and narrow, charging around compounds on mopeds is a recipe for disaster.

You will be fine to enter the UK but you should renew whilst there and travel with 6 months minimum left out of UK, Hope that makes sense. Alternatively get a new one now and carry both because of your visa.

I think your son has some information correct, but best to go to the RTA or call them for clarification. BUT correct or not, what are you thinking as a parent even considering it? The answer is no, if you don't stand your ground now at 13 you will be seriously doomed in years to come. I would also advise you keep your teen away from any older teen who has parents reckless enough to allow their kids to ride around on these. It's trouble. If your son is serious about motor sports then take him to motor city and get him some go karting lessons. What do you think these teens are doing on these bikes? I can tell you what the ones i see are doing around our compound and that's be a ruddy danger to anyone else on the road for starters!

It may be worth contacting the manager of the Madinat theatre (Jumeriah) here for more advice. Also look at Platinumlist, they are a fast growing events company staging many International performance companies in the ME. I seem to remember an opera house is about to be built here as well, perhaps a google for forthcoming projects and find out the company behind it. Dubai does not have the theatre culture you are familiar with in the UK, it is in its infancy and has very few theaters.

I have no experience with brain tumour but recently heard that cannabis oil can cure such tumour with no need for surgery or chemo. Also heard about "defeat cancer now" book that shows how cancer can be reversed naturally by following some diets Sorry, but this is all utter, utter nonsense, like every other post that gets shared around Facebook claiming that some completely natural plant-based substance is a miracle cure for cancer that "Big Pharma" doesn't want you to know about. There isn't a shred of real evidence that any of those supposed treatments actually work. All those posts do is create entirely false hope and entirely unjustified suspicion of science-based medicine. It's just possible that some cancers may have regressed [b'>coincidentally[/b'> after the patient started taking whatever miracle cure supposedly worked for them, but coincidence is all that it is. Actually, the non psychoactive derivatives of cannabis are showing promising results against cancer cells Invitro. Lots of credible studies and research on cannaboid receptors CB1 and CB2 have and are still being conducted. However, all experiments are still in Petri dish stage and no credible animal testing has been conducted till now. Last week I read on gulfnews that the UAE scientist are currently conducting experiments with cannabis to treat cancer, they claim to be testing on frogs and the results are promising. So yes, cannaboids can in the near future treat cancer hopefully, but as of now to claim it as a cure is dishonest. Gotta love Google.
