Why not read the whole article before passing comment, you will then see it was more than that. Moreover, nowhere in the world is it ok to touch a Policeman/woman or anyone in uniform without repercussion. edited by Lolacat on 23/04/2015

What on earth are you doing forcing a child to kiss a complete stranger and employee? Just think about it! This is a maid who is not part of your family she is an employee and should be treated with the respect that deserves. If your toddler does not want to go with her and is actually verbalising the word NO then this should ring very loud alarm bells. The employee is a maid not a nanny. Culture, upbringing and education are completely different to yours, you need to observe your maid and educate accordingly. Install some cameras and watch how your maid interacts with your child.

We moved our son from NAS to Dovecote in February. Best thing we ever did for our child and our family. We live in the Green Community so the location is a plus , but the school ticks all the boxes for us. I was not looking specifically for high academic achievements as he is only FS1 but he actually learned how to write and read up to 3 letter words in this short time. His behavior improved drastically whereas in his previous school it was deteriorating daily for some reason. They focus on academics with heart and care for the child and being a primary school it is a very cozy and friendly environment. We are really impressed with them. The school has only a few staff members now but all highly trained and professional starting with the receptionist and ending with the teacher assistant. Fees are affordable and their facilities are great. The headmaster and his wife are a very pleasant and warm people. We are really happy there. How big is the school and the class sizes?

As salsB says, anyone returning will have to wait 3 months before eligibility is assessed, this includes 18 year olds. The assessment is dependent of many factors, if they are returning from Dubai, they would need to show that they no longer had close ties of any kind with Dubai to be assessed as having habitual residence in the UK, for example their family, property and other connections can be shown to be greater in the UK than they are in Dubai. Supposing the OP means they are returning to the UK but their parents are settled and living in Dubai that could be an issue, unless there is a family home in the UK and other extended family then it could be argued the UK ties are greater, but in any case they would not be able to apply for anything before having been 3 months in the UK so it would be best for them to have independent means of support in that initial period. Where on earth do you get this?

If you are a British passport holder you have every right to reside in the UK and i very much doubt anyone will check anything or be bothered. An 18 year old is an adult, criteria is based on the individual situation not the family earnings/location/connections.

Have you thought of a working visa to travel and work abroad for teens? At 18 you can get one for most countries where there is seasonal work. If you have access then take a look at a great BBC tv series called World's toughest jobs. It's a documentary about young adults who are unemployed and without direction going to various countries to earn some case through hard graft. It may give some ideas and connections, ie ranches in Oz. You could also try googling the programme to see if it is online, it was on BBC 3. There are more options then just returning to UK, you may even find some work here.

And no doubt it will be deleted as discussions are not allowed under the wules. Nor can anyone actually write what they would perhaps really like to. I am an old poster, with 8-10 years and never a ban. Time to time I have a question that I need help with. I always come here full of hope. My posts rarely have more than 2-3 responses, many times zero. I do not think that my questions are particularly difficult. My theory is maybe I am ignored because I never went to a single coffee meet ups and no one knows me in person - I work during the day, and I have my own friends anyways. I do not really understand why I keep coming back. Seeing all those threads with so many useful responses always makes me try again and again. Weird. When I respond others, sometimes I get thumbed down although I have not said anything outrageous. That feels sad and discouraging. Hence I respond posts less often. edited by dentro on 12/04/2015 You are not ignored because you did not attend a coffee morning! Maybe your questions are just not easy to answer and no one knows so they don't respond! I've never been to a coffee or EW event ever!

Who brings their washing in?

What i don't understand is why some schools think a 12 week term without a break is a good idea. I remember being at a new school here the first year it opened and the disaster of a 12 week term without a good break......everyone was exhausted. I have three school calendars in front of me and one is simply diabolical and not at all well thought out, one is ok and one is really well thought out............all have the same number of days and all have been approved..........go figure.

Hi thank you for your reply. We are trying to put both kids in the same school. Year 2 and year 10. A friend recommended the school there with affordable school fee with good rating. Forget putting your kids in the same school, you choose a school that is right for your individual children. Year 10 is very important......not all schools are equal. Have you looked at DESC and DESS, JESS AR, GEMS also have many schools where fees are lower. In Mirdiff you have Uptown high as well.

it's for myself. i summarize a textbook, then summarize my summaries and then do visual boards and and and ... and it all feels so long-winded. i have A LOT of work to get through in a semester and am falling behind because of all the extra summaries of summaries. just thought if i could speak to someone / go for help, it might help. there must be a shorter way! Invest in some books by Tony Buzan......he has some excellent mind mapping solutions for learners. You can also look online for mid maps, but reading TB and how he sets things out really helps. Also a card index system can help.

Ok I agree there are 'Indians only' jobs out there... I don't agree with that either! I know there are people who treat their maids as if they bought them off( as bad as that sounds)... Because they think they have!... When they pay the agencies a huge sum for hiring 'cheap labour' in turn.. It's absolutely atrocious! I calked one such agency yesterday who asked for almost 20,000/- accumulated fees for hiring a maid, and went on to quote a price for different nationalities... And tdifferent salaries they would get based on experience/ nationality/ religion... Starting at as low as 700/-!!! So clearly this is the other side where these girls get roped into agencies and palmed off for a huge amount of money (profit for the agency only) and get pittance for the rest of their contract- not to mention NO days off, leave, phones, i I've heard of and even seem this happen... And I've even been asked to pay 'release money' for hiring from some people... Having said that, there are good and bad people everywhere.. It's extremely unfair to generalise people based on their nationality, colour, accents or religion... When we hire someone we don't look for these qualities rather their work ethics.. My point is, if these girls advertising here to work for 'westerns only' have such a mindset... Putting they ads up there is only encouraging this discrimination... The admin should take a stand and rather try n put an end to it! There's such a thing as ' equal opportunity' in the rest of the world, and that applies to the 'employee' and the 'employers'!everyone deserves to be treated as individuals and be given a fair chance.. Or we haven't evolved much as the human race ! I'm not sure what you don't quite understand. By giving the employee a choice of who they wish to work for you are giving an equal oppourtunity, did you ever think of it that way? Who is to say whose way is correct and whose is not?

Do the fathers have an active and positive interest in their children's lives? Do they contribute financially on a proven and regular basis? Does the father who is contesting custody and the move have a god relationship with the child and is not deemed abusive in any way? If so then you may have a very difficult task ahead re court. Tallybalt has set out the procedure. You have to be married before coming out, getting married here is not an option. All paper work has to be in place to gain visas and school places, for medical to be valid etc. I would ask you to think very carefully about this whole situation, have you been with this partner a long time? Is the relationship very stable? Have you thought about the long term effects of the children’s fathers not being in regular contact with their children? Will you and your relationship cope with expat life? Have you budgeted for trips for the children back to the uK to see their fathers? edited by Lolacat on 31/03/2015

Go back to the UK and start a new life. I guess it's easier said than done without any funds. At least it's an option. Some of the groups can help and maybe the OP can sell some stuff or get some cash together, or contact a family member to help. There are some cheap flights with lots of stops if you search. But the Embassy may be able to help with this as well. Hoepfully she can just get out of a horrible situation and seek some advice. She can also call the police on him if he is physically abusive, the groups maybe able to give more advice on this.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about, most abuse cases happen by a family member. Every school will have photos of their pupils somewhere accessible to the public, shock horror in school uniform. Any predator does not need to look at facebook, all they need to do is sit outside a school and wait for an opportunity, children who a left in a vulnerable situation by their parents.

DT - You are right to be concerned. Your instincts are correct. You should tell the Mother. Anyone posting anything about someone's children online needs to have that Parent's permission. If she does than so be it. Nobody should post pictures of children online without a Parents' concern regardless of wether they are a coach, teacher or housekeeper - simple. I can appreciate you being concerned about what is fair and unfair to the account holder but we are talking about children and an online presence. I for one am fanatical about my children's online presence. I know I would appreciate the opportunity to properly address the situation if someone were to post photos of my children online without my permission. ;) What about other parents? I post photos of my children's teams at sports tournaments etc and have never asked permission of the other parents. I've never had permission asked of me either but know others have posted similar photos with my children in them. I agree that if someone is employed in a role that brings them in to contact with children they should not put photos of them online without permission but where do you draw the line? Daza I really don't know where and if we even can draw the line. There is only so much we can control so we really should control what we can. I attended a workshop on this topic and it was an eye opener for me. The presenter used my Daughter for his example. He googled her name in images and up she came. He followed the image back to another Parent's unsecured FB account. It was a group photo of her in her gymnastic club leotard at a competition. From the photo and the Parent's post he was easily able to ascertain the club's name and even what group/ level she was in. He then googled the Club. With the information on the club's webpage he was able to see the location of the club and their schedule. There he had it. What my Daughter looked like along with exactly where she was going to be and when she was going to be there. He did this in approx two mins. I felt physically ill. I know I can't prevent an online presence for my kids. All I can do is try to control as much of it as possible. Hopeless perhaps but better than nothing. I'm sorry but this is hardly rocket science! It's well documented that many employers and further academic institutions check social media prior to acceptance. The information has been out there for years. So what do you think is going to happen to your child? This is the bottom line.

Construct a well formed letter with all the examples over the years of how your MIL has upset you and handled a situation badly. Make the letter as un-emotional as possible, just matter of fact. Make sure it is accurate and look at your own behavioural responses when the incidents occurred, were they rational and mature. What allows this woman to press your buttons, why and how does she get a reaction? Do you feel that she has become better at it over the years and you now react faster than you did previously? Why do you react? How do you react? Write the letter, look at it, re read it over and over and make adjustments, keep it short and concise. When finally happy with what you have written send it to a very trusted friend/your own mother/sister who knows the situation for a final review. Then show your DH and listen to his feelings on it, then decide if to send it or not. A few years of not engaging with her may be a good thing, she needs to understand boundaries have been breached and how upset you are. You also need to see if there is anything you could change with how you deal and react to her. Space between you may help that. Ultimately you married her son not her, nowhere in the marriage agreement does it say you have to like or deal with the MIL. If she is toxic cut her out your life, either by letter, which is more about your own closure or by just not responding. No one needs toxic people in their lives. edited by Lolacat on 10/03/2015

Dear Ladies, I know I’m wrong and hope you will understand me than judging me or blaming me. If some of you remember I posted a thread asking suggestions should I buy or adopt a kitten. Many of you responded and gave me suggestions of adoption days and contacts of KBC etc. I was following all the pages and I contact all the people with my interest. Whenever I see a kitten or kitty I liked and wanted to adopt. I know there are plenty of mau’s and they are very lovely. But I don’t know why I wanted to have a long hair kitten. Everyone has their own wishes and likes. If I feel I like to adopt only long hair as many others no one can blame me because its my wish. When I can buy a long hair kitty as I wish to have, I was compromising myself to adopt a kitty because I know that’s the right thing to do. But till not I couldn’t get any kitty from all the suggested sites. When I ask them about the kitty they have being adopted. I’m tired of waiting and hoping. So finally I decided will buy a kitty, I can’t wait any longer. And I was not happy the way BKC was responding on adoption requests. Why are you posting this, really why? Is it some attention seeking thing? Who are you justifying your choice to? Don't blame or judge you? Err too late, understand you........oh yes totally. There are hundreds and hundreds of cats on dubbizle and in shelters needing homes, long hair, short hair, you name it, you could easily find a cat/kitten that needs a home if you really wanted to.

Driving along the Corniche in the right lane which mergers into one due to roadworks and a woman literally comes so close to my left side to push in my car sensors went to red. She was unable to move forward due to the barrier however, at the next set of traffic lights, her car cut straight in front of me, parked at a side angle (while the lights went green) and proceeded to scream that this is her Emirate and she had right of way. WTH? Indicated she would call the police before driving off..... Unbelievable some drivers here. You should have let her call the police.
