Your school should have in place a G& T program (without the Tonic! LOL) have you spoke with them? What do his CAT scores or MIDAS look like? Take a look at these sites, the summer courses at Imperial in London are excellent. http://www.nationalstemcentre.org.uk/ http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/newsandeventspggrp/imperialcollege/administration/outreach/eventssummary/event_18-12-2012-16-12-35 http://epgy.stanford.edu/ http://www.ice.cam.ac.uk/courses/summer-schools http://www.giftltd.co.uk/

Seriously? You expect things to all add up and make perfect sense when someone is in the middle of a massive crisis and huge emotional rollercoaster with their life literally falling apart around them? Could YOU? I know a couple of women who had affairs with married men, one kept going back even though she knew the wife was preganant and out the country! YES there are women that brazen out there and NO, they absolutely don't care who they hurt in the process of having their fun. And the men are fools to think that this kind of behaviour is anywhere near acceptable. If there are problems and issues in a relationship, you talk it through, and decide on a course of action - it doesn't give them free rein to mess about. You are making some wild assumptions there. You only know or what you think you know from one side and at that from a public forum post. You don't know the real story. Everyone i have ever known who has been through such a thing has never sought[i'> real advice[/i'> from a public forum and all have been emotional wrecks just about able to get dressed!

Just logically is it possible to sack and ban a qualified teacher that easily, also in a very short time frame, over xmas and New year?

Good she was fired with labour ban. Some lines a teacher should never cross and she basically jumped over them. Very unprofessional. Good luck with your new life. Good she was fired and had a labour ban? If this is true, it's archaic. It takes two to tango, as stated earlier no one has a clue about this relationship or the marriage. I can not believe everyone is being quite so naive about this, the dh knew exactly what he was doing, this is only the wife's version, later she will realise he wanted out and he has been living a life of lies. Stop blaming the new woman, that's naive without knowing the whole story.

The Vet Hospital in Al Quoz are very good with orthopedics. I took my dog there for advice and assistance with his funny back legs - they were very good. Would also advise this clinic as the one to go to.

It's a very bizarre story, with more twists than spaghetti. I agree with LT and don't understand most of the responses on here. You all jump up and down but you don't know the other side of the story and in any relationship there is always another side. This is their marriage breakdown and hopefully the poster has a strong family support network at home who can help her come to terms and deal with it. When a marriage is dead it's dead, moving forward this may in a few years time be the best thing that ever happened to the poster and perhaps her husband.

I normally use fairy non bio but it's hit and miss as to whether in stock so use Waitrose non bio liquid (the purple one) and it's very good and causes no issues.

And I don't understand why people can't just offer advice out of the goodness of their hearts without making judgement calls and being catty... What I have done is considered other people's opinions/experiences to come to my own decision which was going to be neuro or ortho from the get go. You do realise of course that all doctors are essentially GPs don't you?? You become a doctor and THEN you specialise. Yes, there are specialists who have been doing what they do for a long time and haven't had much cause to have experience with anything else and equally, there are specialists - as well as GPs - who can 'miss' something. But being that I have an excellent neurologist who I trust implicitly and being that he was one of my two options to start with ... I decided to go that way. I know I'm an idiot for even bothering to explain myself on here but I've had a **** effing day and this has been a smidge of a vent. jo91... thank you for simply giving your opinion! So why bother asking is you had in your mind to go to your trusted neuro in the first place! Maybe your dh could make his own mind up! edited by Lolacat on 05/01/2014

The best way is to take your CV in person to the schools you would like to teach in and hand to the head or HOD. A lot of schools here rely heavily on supply and are always grateful of having a store of CV's on hand. Money is not so great though. Part time here tends to be a 4 and a half day week, lol, just beware! Also look at some of the tutor facilities here, there is excellent money to be made home tutoring.

If you know who did it then approach them and give them the option of making a police report, if they fail to do this and you make a police report stating who it was they will be in more trouble for not reporting, you may need to mention this to them. If they say they did the damage your insurance stays fine and it comes off theirs. If you don't know 100% who it was then you can make a police report and yes unfortunately it comes off your no claims. If it is minor and you don't want ot fix it then just leave it and ask next time the car is in for service if they can fix it.

Presumably this is a work related issue. Firstly do know for sure it is incorrect? Could it be a mistake? Have you called the hospital in question and asked for a breakdown or suggested the information is incorrect and could they please check there is not computer error? Maybe even in person, playing you understand how easy it is for computer glitches, sometimes in person can help. If this is insurance related then i would suggest to the insurance company there is a question mark over the report and they need to investigate. Also remember there is the health authority to go to and ask. Also if you have a company lawyer maybe speak to them prior to any action taken. edited by Lolacat on 05/01/2014

I really don't understand some people, you've just taken the advice of a poster having stated you were not that naive! Why would you see a neuro when you don't have an idea what the issue is? Just what if the problem is cardio and the neuro misses it, how would you feel then? I suggested (the male) Dr Smiley because he is male and many men prefer a male GP and he will put your husband at ease with his wealth of experience.

Jo91 this is not totally correct information. There are numerous reasons and hence why a GP should be the first port of call. Heart issues can also cause numbness and tingling, therefore a neurologist would be of little use. For insurance purposes it is always better to see a GP first.

Ok stop arguing and go and visit a good gp first who will decide what tests and further action needs to be taken based on a proper diagnosis. There could be hundreds of reasons for his symptoms so please do not start posting on here and taking note of what some posters great aunt had in 1985! Look at Dubai London clinic and book to see one of the Smiley's (mr or mrs) both highly experienced gp's who are recommended by all! I hope that settles the argument

Before you all jump on the poster, nowhere did she state she is selling the puppies. Yes she may be but she has not stated that in writing, therefore she does not need a license. And as far as i am concerned someone who actually has thought about the breed/bloodlines/home raising pups is a far superior choice to any pet shop and pet farmed puppies.

Anyone would think we live in some sort of 3rd world banana republic where it's impossible to speak up. That's nonsense and thank heavens that we have people who do so (Lesley Cully springs to mind). And who doubts the media storm this summer (here and overseas) didn't have an impact on the decision to release the Norwegian lady from jail. Suggest you research a little more with more depth of understanding.

Hi Fiat500 & Laura2, Hijacking post a bit… But I am a vet nurse who has just adopted a mature Sulcata lady who I am totally in love with… Wanted to ask two questions; 1) Best vet in Dubai for tortoises? (I am not practising in DXB & have very limited exotics/reptile experience anyway so not in the know…) 2) Best online site for advice re: bathing/wallowing & general sulcata advice. (I know a lot of sites are not aimed at our ME climate but still…). Any tips, advice, pearls of wisdom? champagneblonde77 at g mail dot com TIA edited by champagneblonde on 02/01/2014 The best vets for Torts are Nad AL Sheba, they can have water when the temp is warmer, remember cold blooded. Many like a nice warm tray of water to go in and drink.

To add further insult to all those effected, the worlds media is reporting the record was broken around the Khalifa! not a single clip of the palm. Shock horror not a single paper is reporting the horrific cock up! You are mistaken, most of the world's press mention the locations or a generic "shoreline" not just the Burj. It was a huge success why should it be reported as anything else?

DR 1958, we all have stories and as LT so sadly points out by the lottery of birth. Your situation was bad luck based on an oversight, luckily for your help they have moral employers who could help. I am not suggesting the employer pays all medical costs, obviously this could be an impossible situation. What i am suggesting is exhausting all routes as to whether there is a feasible option here re medical care / insurance available. I do understand but the reality is that its almost impossible to cover what if scenarios when it comes to deciding on how much medical cover to buy and the bottom line is that people should be asking themselves will I take on the cost of this if the insurance limit is reached. We even had special coverage for cancer treatment at the amount recommended by the insurer - to date we have spent twice what they suggested as being the cost of the treatment. So even if he had renewed on time we would still be having to pay about 400k ( to date). The wee boy got a very rare fungal infection that almost killed him during his chemo. It was in his brain and in-operable. The treatment was months and months and months on tablets costing about 10dhms daily, or months on tablets costing 600 dhms daily - what choice was there? But more to the point, even if he hadn't let the insurance expire the very expensive medication wouldn't have been covered, even the cheaper one would have been difficult to get approval for. After being through what we have, I would look at a pregnant maid and say sorry but I cannot see you through this pregnancy. I would never just send her away empty handed or in despair but it would be her pregnancy to deal with, not mine, even with insurance. edited by DesertRose1958 on 30/12/2013 The practicalities may not be so easy and sadly leaving employment is often the only choice available to employers in this environment. I would just like to have seen a little more humanity on this thread and thought about the bigger picture.

You can take a horse to water but you cant make it drink. Children at boarding schools need to be self motivated. Some of the boarders at my DDs school would do much better if they went home to a nagging parent at the end of the day. Make sure the child knows you are spending a lot of money sending them to boarding school and choose a school that wont take any nonsense regarding late homeworks, revising etc. Great post.

I suspect the chap in question was trying to be funny, a very bad judgement call. I think Marooshhhy has a valid point about taking this further and making an offical complaint with HR. More along the lines that any employee should know the first aid procedure and know what to do when first on the scene to an incident at the workplace, company health and safety has been seriously breached by this person. I do hope you are ok and get checked out. edited by Lolacat on 30/12/2013
