Ejari is the most important and the LL should be able to do this for you, do not hand over any money until you know he has the title deeds for the property and can help with the Ejari. You need your residence visas in place before you can do your DEWA and Etisalat, you also will need lots of cash for deposits and a large dose of patience. Work backwards Are you in any form of gated community or have security? GO and see if they have this man entering on camera and make an offical complaint, see if they have his car reg or ID to enter the community. I would go to the police and report this incident to their fraud section. A friend of mine got caught in a scam a few months back, unreal but she did and lost several thousand, the police have been brilliant and are very hot on this sort of thing. Did you give any form of ID or any other information that may lead to identity fraud or your bank accounts?

I dont think anyone in Dubai has a healthy scalp. If your not suffering with excessive hair loss you will probably get chronic dandruff. Its the water here. I just dont know what is in it that makes peoples scalps react that way. Cant be good... Slight exaggeration, if that were the case the population of Dubai would be bald! I've never had any issues and lived here for years in different areas. Excessive blow drying, bleaching, colouring and inadequate diet is far more likely the cause. I never do blow dry, bleaching, coloring & my diet is super healthy. Noy even stress, I am leading Allhamdulilah happy life.Then I dont know any reason why would I have hair fall? except my change of region. How much sun do you expose yourself to, vit D levels may be low.

Any trainer who uses caesar milan's methods are outdated trainers. Positive reinforcement trainers do not follow such methods. Positive reinforcement is a Scientific backed training methodology which does not harm nor hurt the dog in any way and increases the bond with the handler and his dog. This training method is so successful that they are using it on various other animals. Trainers who are excellent are Michelle @ Paws pet planet, Laura @ Positive paws and Jo who can be contacted via positive paws. All 3 of them always believe that handlers need the most training as dogs are easy but we always lose out on patience, persistance and consistency. There are trainers and there are behaviourists. Two very different things...so not one outdated by the other. People should research both and go with the method that feels right (and gets results) for them. Rubbish. I so love the way people following Cesar Millan and certain trainers in Dubai go on about this they're not trainer they're a behaviourist nonsense. Dr. Ian Dunbar has a veterinary degree and a Special Honors degree in Physiology & Biochemistry from the Royal Veterinary College (London University) plus a doctorate in animal behavior from the Psychology Department at UC Berkeley, where he researched the development of social hierarchies and aggression in domestic dogs. I don't know about anyone else but I call that a behavourist, and a well qualified one at that. He calls Cesar Millans methods outdated and ineffective. As do so many other professional animal 'behaviorists', people with actual qualifications from actual universities. Erm and what qualifications does Cesar Millan have? Chilling out on a farm in Mexico? Bulling a dog. Just because he calls himself an animal behaviorist and psychologist does not make it so. If you needed surgery say your tonsils removed and some random guy says 'I'm a self taught doctor' would you then say hey of course come cut me open and remove my tonsils? Would you want a 'self taught' engineer designing the Burj Khalifa? Would you want a self taught Maths teacher teaching your children maths? I guess if they are on TV then it must make it right? Cesar Millan is nothing more than a good PR stunt that uses invasive fear based techniques to subdue dogs until they do what he wants. Yes these techniques work and faster than proper training which requires patience and small steps. Cesar's way does very little for a fearful dog except make it more fearful. If you were scared of something and I shoved it in your face then poked you in the neck and hissed at you every time you screamed at it, you might stop screaming (so you don't get poked in the neck) but you're not going to be any less scared. As for pack leader, well dogs have been domesticated for tens of thousands of years and it is a well published fact that whilst we traditionally thought their social mechanics were similar to that of a wolf pack they are actually anything but. There are trainers in Dubai with real qualifications (degrees) in canine behaviour, I have yet to come across one who proposes adverse training methods. As for those that use Cesar's way, avoid. Positive reinforcement is the best way to train a dog, and also makes use of animal 'behaviour'. Don't be conned when a trainer starts saying 'I'm better than those other trainers because I'm a 'behaviourist'. Great post, totally agree

TBH it is far better to euthanize a stray cat than have a poor spay done. Firstly thank you all for your advises and for sharing your own personal experiences. Maybe I should have explained more in detail. This all started at a clinic in HCC. That's where I took my son to our pediatrician. He immediately referred me to the orthopedic surgeon next door. This surgeon ordered a spinal xray and the result was that my son has scoliosis and that later on he will need to be put in a brace. We were shocked so my husband told me to take our son to American Hospital. So off we went with the xray and report in hand. There we saw Dr. Ludwig (German pediatric orthopedic consultant). This time Dr Ludwig told him to undress and stay in his underwear. Immediately he told him that he has a shorter leg because his pelvis was higher on one side than the other. He put a block under the so called shorter leg and everything came into place. So he'll know exactly what is the difference he sent us for another 3 x rays (1 for the pelvis, 1 for his legs and 1 for his left palm). He then came out with this measurement of 8mm. From his palm (hand) xray he could tell us how tall our son is eventually going to grow and calculated that by the time he will reach his final height the difference will be 9mm. He referred us to the technician also at American Hospital to arrange a shoe lift. I was totally lost until I read your feedback. Thanks a lot everyone Putting a shoe lift in will not address the cause, you need more than these two opinions as they both seem rather peculiar. Firstly change your orthopedic surgeon, 8mm is highly unlikely. Your son should have had full hip x rays to see if he had any damage or signs of Perthes disease which can cause leg length difference, probably the biggest cause in boys in fact. Or Osgoodslatters in the knees. Think back to when your child was little, did he complain of growing pains at all? To measure bone length really accurately you actually need to go into a special x ray machine that measures the bone lengths otherwise you can get seriously inaccurate results. If doing by hand you measure with a tape measure each leg individually, but this can be very hit and miss. Dependent on diagnosis you can slow the growth of the longer leg by drilling a few holes through the knee, but this is only based on diagnosis, obviously. Depending on your nationality i would strongly urge you to go back to the UK, Germany or US for diagnosis and treatment. The other person here is Dr Eissa Al Hamrani at City, apart from that i personally do not trust pead orthos here and do not use them. To quantify the above i have spent 14 years in and out of Orthopedic hospital with one of my children who has a leg length difference now secondary to an initial problem, so i do not recommend rushing to chiropractors or osteopaths until you have quantified what is the cause with a suitably qualified surgeon. Your son's spine should also have been checked by the ortho surgeon to see if there are issues (curves) there. That's it. It isn't as such about the government wanting free money, they want your money, yes, but as an injection into the local economy. Spend here. The workers can't though, as they do need to support families back home, but, as said, it is middle class' problem. Again I ask what incentive expats actually have to contribute to the local economy by spending here? Everything here is double the price! Hidden taxes everywhere If the economy returns, wages could increase again. Could, though. I'm not an economist. But higher wages would be great. Packages coming back, for example. But for as long as the country is still trying to pull through that won't happen. In all truthfulness, I do not think that will ever happen again, though. Packages were offered to entice people to come to a foreign, perceivable 'dangerous' Arab/Muslim country. But now that Dubai has repositioned itself, it is no longer a case of head hunting and incentives, it's a case of pick the most qualified who'll work for the best price from the people knocking down the door. Schools are probably the largest local injection. Yes not an economist, when other countries economies pick up an effect will be seen in the region. The region is still extremely volatile.

Although she was not diagnosed with astma the medication she's getting is actually astma treatment (Prednisolone and Singulair). And they worked wonders last night. We slept through the night, with not a single cough, hurrah! The only strange thing is that she peed alot at night, even wet her bed. Must be an effect of this medecine. Great news, this is why one goes to doctors and takes advice posted on here with a pinch of salt! The peeing could just be that it's the first night in a while where she managed to get a good nights sleep and slept deeply, don't read too much into that.

I don't think it's ok for you to put up a thread about someone else's personal life for starters, unless of course this is you. If the husband does not want kids then she should have talked about this prior to marriage. Having kids has to be a mutual decision not one sided and she should respect his wishes and also respect her own. Forcing him, blackmailing or being devious will end in disaster, the marriage is poor as it stands, having kids will just make the marriage disintegrate at a faster rate. She has a choice, be childless and live in a mediocre marriage or divorce and start afresh.

Changed for Zyrtec yesterday and gave her goat's milk instead of NAN before bed. She only had one cough attack early in the morning, slept better. I've been already disappointed with homeopathic remedies before. I don't think honey would help against severe cough. Viks I did try on the feet and chest and back. It seemed that the smell irritated her even more. Just take her to a good doctor, the zirtec will be doing more than anything else, but you need to get to the bottom of why she is coughing and treat accordingly.

Obviously please be very very careful with a two year old when steaming. Your doctor may well suggest some more tests and advise an inhaler or nebuliser for a while to help your DD or further treatment based on diagnosis. Don't smother her in Vix or add anything to the steaming or you could do more damage than good. hhmm.. so far it's not done any damage to DD *touchwood*. I take it as it's much cleaner that the rough water you get from the pipes in this country ;) If you read the contraindications you will see that you have to be careful with certain ages and if your child has certain chest conditions it is not advised as an actually worsen the illness. I use vix, have done for 40+ years but i don't smother it on and am more than aware how unpleasant it can be for a young child to have smothered on. At this point in time until a diagnosis is made steaming with nothing several times a day is the most beneficial and safest thing to do. Hopefully the OP has now taken her child to see a doctor. Rough water? has nothing to do with anything. Look, negotiate total rental price, negotiate paying monthly or in four cheques Forget trying to get monthly payments on a villa, it just won't happen. You'll be lucky to get four cheques. LLs now are demanding 1 cheque, maybe 2 at a pinch. LL are still doing deals, there is a lot of agent hype but actual LL are negotiating. With one cheque you will never get your money back or be able to get out of your lease.

Can be done, is done for lots of children with special needs or learning issues, not difficult. Suggest you go back to your school and suggest that should they not help in this matter you will be taking it up with KHDA........won't look good with inspections coming up. Just beware though that some schools are now charging parents a HUGE amount for *looking after* their children whilst they are out of Arabic lessons, I know a few mums who have to go into school and look after their child during this period.

I would advise you find out how the housing allowance is going to be paid, this is a very reasonable question to ask the HR department. Many companies now give a cheque made out directly to you the employee to do with what you want. Some pay directly to the landlords. Your housing allowance is tied to your contract and should you decided to leave prior to finish of contract you may well be expected to pay this amount back in full. Therefore you need to be savvy and make the money go far and protect yourselves IMHO. You need to understand that running costs are far greater than the UK, a big house means a big water and electric bill, this can really eat into your salary. Some companies pay utilities but most will not, so you have to allow for that. You also have to pay 5% p/a of the rental value as a sort of council tax p/m in your electric and water bill. Unless you are earning a huge salary and have not come here to save then i would advise the following. Don't get a 4 bedroom if there are only 3 of you, get a three bed. Don't have a private pool, just find a compound with a community pool. Don't get a large garden, irrigation can eat up water and cost a lot. Never spend over your rental allowance because you want that nice house, its' just not worth it. Remember debt in Dubai can end in Jail time. If you get the HA direct to you then only use say 150 to 200 and save the rest for bills. You will have to pay 5% total rental value to an agent, make sure you factor this. You will also be expected to put a deposit down, normally 10% of rental value. You will also be expected to put deposits down for electric/water and phone/internet and TV. Look, negotiate total rental price, negotiate paying monthly or in four cheques. Most rents are non refundable unless you make sure you have a get out clause in your rental agreement. We have three months either way with a month in case of emergency situation. You can find a nice house for under 200K, but need to look, don't just do what the Jones do, make your money work for you. Many new expats massively overspend when they arrive as they have no idea of all the costs associated with residing here, they then spend a year paying off their debt. (if not longer) Consider renting a furnished apartment for a few weeks until you find where you want to live and get your visa's through. Rent a car for a while before you buy. Most rental houses here come with no white goods or curtains so be prepared to spend quite a bit covering that. <em>edited by Lolacat on 26/09/2013</em>

The body in its natural form is nothing to be ashamed of..... and if you are of the mindset that wearing sheer clothes so that underwear is visible (if it is being worn) is ok then that is great, but I am fairly certain that the majority of people would not find this appropriate in a school environment. If a woman wears no bra and a low cut top that lets all swing free if she leans over, again great.... But not in a school environment. I am sure the boys at school and possibly some staff will really appreciate it, but IMO it is not appropriate. Maybe I have just lead a very sheltered life :-) Personally I dont have a problem with gym stuff, but understand that for some seeing naked midriff and alot of skin may offend... Sorry i just keep thinking of Bridget Jones and her big knickers and the joke about men.......lol

As mentioned previously on this thread the regulation part is difficult to enforce, take a walk anywhere where there are expats and you will see many who would maybe not be approved by some as regards what they are wearing. Are ladies who wear gym wear really that offensive or is it rather those who critic are just jealous of their fab bodies? Interesting that female and male PE staff in western schools wear shorts that are above the knee..........yet a parent can not?

Yes there are plenty of fixed ones too.... Wobbly or fixed either is great, but I don't understand why some people feel it OK to have them exposed so fully in front of children, save it for the club! Maybe it is just the novelty of being able to wear such skimpy clothing as the weather is warmer than their home countries. Really? Goodness i have brought my children up to find nakedness a totally natural thing, it's not the kids who care it is the mothers! Fully exposed? Really? I don't think it is about what women should or shouldn't do.... I am not muslim, or a man.... But I don't want to see big wobbly boobs out on full display with skirts/shorts that show what you have had for lunch (sorry)! Let alone my child to see it, it is not OK. It is about having some self respect and a little respect for those around us. In the same way I wouldn't want my child to be around adults who have a potty mouth.... The school we were at asked for parents to dress respectfully, this was largely due not to those who wear vest tops or skirts just on the knee but because of those as Daza said got lost on their way to Nasimi..... It is not appropriate. Where do you see wobbly boobs? Most of the ones i see are fixed firm with silicone! I don't think it has anything to do with respect i think it has more with people from certain cultures expressing what is natural to them.

As mentioned previously on this thread the regulation part is difficult to enforce, take a walk anywhere where there are expats and you will see many who would maybe not be approved by some as regards what they are wearing. Are ladies who wear gym wear really that offensive or is it rather those who critic are just jealous of their fab bodies? How often do you see size challenged ladies wearing skin tight Lycra? lol Is wearing a sleeveless but classy business dress really that offensive? It seems to be mainly ladies who complain about other ladies and the way they dress, never heard a man complain yet! <em>edited by Lolacat on 25/09/2013</em>
