Right thats it.............................its time to get changed. I'm with you Loopy - i'll make it a long 30 min make over. Hmm haven't started my work out yet, why not let today be the day I get my trainers on. come on, be real - just can't be bothered. You know it's not happening. LOL - ditto!!! So much for my 30 lengths each day in the pool, too darn cold for that kind of malarky!! There's always my very neglected and very over due tax return to attempt ....... :\: Errrr maybe I'll just kill a few chapters of my book first ;)

For months now I have been trying to find employment. It seems that a lot of ladies are in the same boat. Apparently, despite good qualifications and solid experience in our chosen fields our age and appearance (attaching a 'photograph to the CV is a required by a lot employers here) we are not being chosen for interviews! I have decided to do a little experiment: apply for a job that I am totally unqualified for and attach a models 'photo.... lets see if I get an interview! LoL ;) Busy slightly changing a version of my CV and and then will have some fun choosing a photograph for my new and improved CV.......:) Hahahaha - I like your style!! Good luck, enjoy and do update us with the outcome ;-)

lol@LL - you know things are bad when you're using the heated seats in Dubai! First time I went to this hospital the doctor packed me off for a blood test for Raynaud's disease because my fingers were ice cold and purple. I don't have Raynaud's, it was just even colder in his examination room than the rest of the hospital! Hehehe!!! Yes darn heated seats, was hoping I'd have to investigate where the windscreen wipers were, but alas still no rain on my side of town :-(

I had a miserable morning. First at the hospital where it's always really cold, then on the metro where it was cold, then bus back home which was freezing. Got home and would have put the heating on if I had any. Instead chucked on socks and a hoodie. Do none of the public places turn the a/c down in winter?! I've got to go into that hospital next week for a day, thinking of taking my own sleeping bag lol I went for my job medical on Sunday and SNAP - the hospital was sub zero in my book!!!! I was there for 5hrs and actually turned on the heated seats on in the car once I finally escaped!!

LOL the UAE has spoiled you ladies. :P True ....very very true ;) Just a bit gutted as I go back to work next week after an 8 wk gap (was made redundant). First few weeks were spent job chasing, 2nd few wks back home in arctic UK for Xmas, then past couple of weeks entertaining my folks. Was hoping for some fine whether this week sunning & reading by an empty pool (gets busy at weekends!) before I start back at the daily grind. Never mind .... hopefully the sun fairy will show her face before the weekend.

I’ve never really used forums before so when I first joined EW it took me a while to pick up on the abbreviations (pondered for ages why there were so many ladies called Tia ;-)) So have put together the below to assist new users. Please correct me if any are incorrect (I’m still learning!) and please do add to the list (to educate myself and others further!) OP = original poster (or opening poster?) TIA = thanks in advance MTIA = many thanks in advance DH = dear husband DD – dear daughter DS = dear son SO = significant other? OH = other half? MIL = mother in law FIL = father in law IMHO = in my humble opinion TBH = to be honest (SP) = indicates a spelling mistake [b'>UAE Specific[/b'> DXB = Dubai AUH = Abu Dhabi SZR = Sheikh Zayed Road AR = Arabian Ranches MC – Motor City MOE = Mall of the Emirates DM = Dubai Mall JBR – Jumeirah Beach Residenc JLT – Jumeirah Lake Towers Then stumbled across this site ...... http://www.all-acronyms.com/cat/9/tag/forum Think I might get some question marks if I used AIAMU!!! (and I'm a monkeys uncle) LOL! Can you tell I’m bored this eve?

Nice idea Lovely, and great to hear from those that have been there & proudly worn the t-shirt :-) I guess I'd best just embrace it and stop moaning - with age comes wisdom afterall, oh and attitude, and if I stop looking too closely in the mirror I can just about ignore the onset of wrinkles (sorry I meant laughter lines) :-) So, time to start dropping some desert sized hints to DH about the location of Tiffany's ;) Oh and a BIG happy birthday for those others with their naughty forties looming :)

I wouldn't want to turn the clock back age wise. I'm 55 and happy in my skin! In my 20s and 30s it was running after kids, trying to fit all sorts in. In my 40s it was teenager strops etc although my 2 were actually OK. I hit my 50s and DH and I can do as we please, are a couple again with the kids off our hands. Don't care about the trivia I did when I was younger and we're both healthy and happy and will be even happier once we leave Doha this Friday!!!! :D :) Mega like :) Thanks Joyce ;-) xxx PS - good luck with your move!!

Ahhhh thanks ladies :-) I know I'm as old as I feel and it IS just a number. My face n body have been kind over the years so I really shouldn't be down. The big day is 3 weeks away yet so I have time to get my head around it ....... Just twixed and between whether to celebrate it or not? Head in the sand syndrome makes me just want to ignore it, then again another small part of me wants to make it a huge land mark birthday celebration. Not sure DH has even registered the fact so I'm fairly sure there's no big surprises on the horizon - lol. Freckles - LOL!!! Yes, I'm with you on that one ;-) x PS - went for a medical yesterday and the GP said 'so you're 40 years of age' ....to which I replied 'NO, not quite' ..... he looked confused for a second ..... so I stormed back with ....'if you look at my birth date you'll see I'm a few weeks away from 40' ............. He really didnt get it!!!! :-( edited for poor grammar - still poor but the best I can do for now :-) edited by Loopy Lotti on 17/01/2011

OMG.....AED 1300 on just groceries???????? is that possible??????? Very easily done!!!:( Yup, very easily done, especially in Waitrose!! Back to fridges, we're also looking..... Hyperpander at Festival City seem to have a good range at reasonable prices.
