Sorry no help whatsover ...... I let my OH go TV shopping on his own and hit the roof when he came back with a 50" ..... luckily it still is works but then he pushed the boat out for LG and I think the warranty is 2 yrs. Are you still under warranty? If not can the store that sold it to you advise of who can repair even if it entails going direct to the manufaturer? And I actually like the 50'' now ...... men eh!!?

No, you have time. I sent mine on Thurs 28th April I had a txt notification from DHL 4 days later to inform that my doc had been received. Then just over a week later on Weds 11th May the funds were deducted from my account. It was the following 2 weeks that did my head in with no news, website says dont even bother calling until the month is up as they'll just ask you to call back once it's been gone a full four weeks ......... agggghhhh! I called on the 4th week to be told all is fine and it's on it's way, I received it 4 days later which ='d 4 wks + 4 days. You have nearly 11 weeks!!! It'll be fine!!!! What was really worrying me though was if it got to 4 weeks and I phoned and THEN they said there was a problem. Luckily not but the lack of comms is infuriating!!!!

OMG we have to go and visit this forum!!! En masse! Details!! :D BM, you took the words right out of my mout^^keyboard, but then I thought I might be the only one who thought it would be fun. Looks as if we could make up a posse! Count me in!!! I would love to see how these other sites operate!? How can they stay afloat if they are so unfriendly?? EW is the only forum I've ever frequented and I couldn't think of a better place to come for advice, recommendations or just to rant and / or banter.......I really think EW must be unique. I had my fingers burnt a little when I first joined for putting a web site address on for a service I valued, I learnt my lesson quick and soon got the jist of things and settled in nicely, and EW certainly helped us settle into the desert nicely!! Thank you to all on EW and nice one to LD for making the point of how cool EW is!! Good luck LD in SGP ... I hope the real life folk you meet are nicer than the cyber ones and please drop back in on us to let us know how you're getting on! LLx

No exactly why you shouldn't smoke anywhere near a fuel station. So, next time I see someone in the queue puffing away do you think it wise if I attack them with my car fire extinguisher? The fire was in the mini-mart apparently. You know you can actually put a cig out in a pool of petrol and it won't ignite! It's the fumes that are the problem. Yep just saw that it was just the mini mart on 365.......so much smoke though!! I shudder to think had it got to the actual fuel station itself! Really re the petrol?! Wow! But isnt that exactly why you shouldnt smoke near a fuel station as the fumes are unseen everywhere ..........? Dont get me wrong, I am a smoker, I just wouldn't do it near a fuel station and when I see others doing it I just wanna drive the **** outta there pronto quick!! (normally unable as I'll be on the last drop of fuel half way between AD work and DXB home!!) :)

Thanks Sugarbeach, how long has yours been gone? Fingers crossed it'll arrive soon, and BM's must be any day now!!! It's HORRIBLE waiting!!! Mover & Sheikha ..... 6 months!!!??? My god how on earth can the SA authorities justify that? A month is about 3 weeks too long for us Brits!! This time last year through until Xmas I was travelling once a month with work ...... how would that work for a Saffa with a passport needing renewal?

I'm not very clued up on this subject, but I think in the first instance you would need at least an NOC from your husband to enable you to work part time (or otherwise) if you are under his sponsorship. I'm sure others will be able to offer more in depth advice. Good luck!

Mine finally arrived today, having taken exactly 4 weeks, 4 days + GBP 174 (for passport & courier fees) + around GBP 10 on the ****** phone call + a BUCKET load of stress waiting for it not knowing what was going on!! I reckon it must be like giving birth though .... the pain is soon forgotten now I have my new lil red book in my paws!! Thank god I don't have to do it again for another 10 years! I have to agree though, it really is utterly ridiculous that in this day and age it takes over a month, costs a fortune, and they cannot even keep you up to speed with what's going on? Honestly!! I hope everyone else's arrive soon. x

Awwww she's beautiful, I so wish I could have her!! One of the very few things I don't like about our lifestyle here is we can't have dogs (or cats) due to both working full time and being away a lot :( On a side note.....I'm still giggling having had a Facebook friend request today from my mothers new puppy (back home) Hobbies & interests the lot listed!! My mother is mental!! Hehehehe! Good luck with homing Lulu. x

Just over from Satwa is Pelins Tailoring in Meena Bazar. She is WONDERFUL! She made my wedding dress from scratch based on photo's of a dress I liked and the end result is stunning! Her attention to detail and passion for what she does shines through in abundance, and Pelin herself is lovely. Wedding dresses aside she'll copy anything, I have pretty much my whole (very worn out and tired) work wardrobe lined up ready for her to copy!! Ah WaxMuch thatnk you so much for the info. Sounds like a brilliant service and conveinence is key as we both work some odd hours and many weekends. A couple of hours on a precious weekend that we do have free to get to RAK is a pain for us and we end up spending fortunes in MMI! I hear you re their reluctance to deliver to apartments, but I'd love to give it a go and see if they could be persuaded. We on a very low floor, our reception folk are brilliant and we're dead easy to find. May I be cheeky and ask for an intro? Such terribly sad news, my heart goes out to you and your friends. I had a close friend that was diagnosed in 1998 who we finally lost in 2005..........it must have been a slow growing type as he lasted 7 years and was really only very poorly for the final few months. Sending you strength and hugs during this terrible time LLx

Phew, am I glad I made that call for the sake of reassurance!!! They told me it's all signed off and ready to be printed today or Tues (bank hol in Europe), then it'll be DHL'd and will be with me next week. Oh thank goodness!!! After an evening of far too many flaming zambuca's had no recollection of how I got home, when looking for my car keys the next day to go retrieve my car found that I had lost them somewhere along the way! That little episode cost me GBP 800 in vehicle rescue, a new ignition barrel and some part of the alarm system that had to be replaced!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

You should have a tracking number from DHL ...... or whichever courier you used. You did use an internationally recognised courier?? DHL sent me a text once mine had been received by the passport office in Dusseldorf.

I have chip n pin but occasionally they ask me to sign too ...... oh that'll be when they don't have a machine for me to enter my pin into. What gets me is the look of horror in the odd place where they want to take my card ......... oh NOOOOO I will NOT let my card out of my sight .... bring the machine to me or I'll go to where the machine is, either or, I will not let my baby of a card outta my sight and dont care which restaurant staff thinks I'm crazy because of the fact!!

I first saw this report this morning & thought, oh sh!t the world end is starting............., but the report said no where near as bad as last summer and travel disruptions were unlikely. I really hope and have fingers crossed that no-ones travel plans are disrupted.....and I'm sure the world isn't ending. Fingers crossed for any heading into northern Europe in the next couple of weeks! LLx
