My goodness, so many Mothers days, I lose track!!! Whoever said the British Mothering Sunday (linked to lent) is prolly the one I should follow but my folks live in Spain where I gather they have their own Mothers day date .......having read this thread I totally give up!! I'll call Mum this weekend.......but I do that every weekend! Can't have flowers delivered as they live in the middle of rural nowhere that no postie nor courier co will deliver to. Errrrr maybe I'll just not mention it......Mum'll understand, she knows she's the best Mum in the world EVERY day and we don't need to pick a particular day to recognise the fact :-) Still wish I could send her flowers tho - but I guess some things just have to give when living in a rural idyllic eh! x x

In formal situ's (ie with clients) or if on the phone I pronounce it ofTen, but at home or around mates it slips to offen .... Side note ...... I once had a boyfriend (many years ago!) who pronounced the T in fruition! No matter how many times I pointed out how it should be said he couldnt get it right. Needless to say, we didnt last very long ;) Is there such a thing as being verbally dyslexic???? :\: ETA: I'm English edited by Loopy Lotti on 03/05/2011

I did pass comment on the dress to DH that the pattern made it look as if her nipples could be seen. We thoroughly enjoyed all day watching the wedding but DH did make the comment he thought 'The Sun's' headline the next day would be '[b'>Kate N!ppleton's wedding day[/b'>' - chorttle. They were rather prominent till she warmed up ;-) edited by Loopy Lotti on 02/05/2011

I LOVE my Kindle for all reasons everyone else have already stated. Not sure how I ever lived without one! I've not yet looked into how to share books or loan books (I think you can loan for a 2 week period), but there's time for that (too busy reading!). Tip - the battery lasts for ever, but lasts noticably longer if you turn the wireless function off (& only turn on when you actually want to download). Go on, treat yourself to a Kindle!

Ached like crazy the following few days, thighs, hips, bum.....all the bits I want to tone up :-) Definately look up a local class.....if you love to dance you'll love Zumba :)

Very interested to follow this thread to see if anyone has any insight to the causes of teeth grinding, or any cures! I'm 40 and seem to go through short periods of grinding my teeth (totally unaware alseep!). It seems to prevail at times of stress, and also if I've had a few too many vino's. I've never discussed it with a professional but will do once I pluck up the courage to finally see a dentist (it's been 7 years!!). Apart from my other half moaning if I've had a particularly bad griding night, my jaw aches the next day so I know I'm doing myself no good. Such an odd thing..... to hear someone else grind their teeth is worse than nails scraping down a blackboard for me and to think I do it in my sleep totally horrifies me!! I'd LOVE to know what the trigger is and how to stop it!

8 weeks to grow back....eeek that's cutting it fine! Although, they are still there (just quite markedly much shorter than the other eye), so not having to grow from scratch, hopefully they'll be ok for my big day and will not need to go the extension route (but thanks for the tip!). Interesting stuff Malibu regarding the Vit C connection. I think up my intake of Vit C, buy some vaseline and keep crossed fingers the next few weeks! Dreading putting mascara on stunted lashes for work on Sun morn ......maybe forego the mascara for a week so as not to draw attention to them..... other half says its not noticable, but of course my good lashes are waving flags with bells on compared to my other eye when I look in the mirror!! Sigh ;)

Hi Suzi ..... good luck & congrats on your forthcoming wedding!! I am in a similar 'wishing to drop some weight' situ, but with just 9 weeks (eeeek!) till my wedding day to drop half a stone (ideally 3/4, but trying to be realistic). In the grand scheme of things it really isn't that much but toning up is also important to me. I was 9 stone when I arrived 18 months ago, and 9.5 stone now, altho in my younger years (now 40) 8.5 stone or slightly less was my ideal (5ft 5). In my younger years I was a trained dancer then since giving it up 18yrs ago I have not done a shred of excercise since, bar the odd motivation to swim now and then. My posture has always helped, but sadly I now realise I simply do not have the body I once had!! I need to kick myself up the b*tt as time is of the essence. From Sun (ok just yesterday :-), I have cut carbs from breakfast & in the eves, cut the wine in the eves (until the weekend!), intend to swim 30 lengths (25mtre pool) 3 times a week and do 2 zumba classes a week, cut coffee altogether (in which I have 2 sugars), and up the water intake ............. I wonder if I can lose a sustainable half stone or 3/4 in 8 weeks via the above? As another poster said, he loves me for how I am, and I do believe that, BUT there's nothing like making an effort to look your absolute best on the big day, and at the end of the day had I done this 10 yrs ago my body would have been at its best!! Some effort required now methinks! Let us know how you get on ....if I've not shifted any weight in 2 weeks I'll be joining the shred (oh dread!). LLx

Hi, welcome to Dubai and EW! Re car choice you might find this site helpful - the ulitmate car buyer guide. Lists EVERY SINGLE manufacturer / model that is, or has been, available here and notes standard dealer list price when new, power, torque, fuel economy, bhp and top speed, and you can compare stats from various vehicles via a handy table it puts together for you. It was our absolute bible when researching a new car. Also note that very often the price when you get to a dealer will be much less if looking at a 2010 model and they are looking to clear their stock for 2011 & 2012 (we shaved 40k aed from a car originally priced at 169k). http://www.drivearabia.com/ultimatecarbuyerguide/ I also commute daily to AD ..... I find the drive absolutely fine, if not a bit boring. Watch the speed tho, new limit is now 140km p/hr with zero tolerance and its radar'd so no speeding up between the cameras (dull, but makes for a safer, albeit more boring drive). Hope you find a good car! LLx edited by Loopy Lotti on 17/04/2011

Outdoor temps seem to have shot up 10 degrees over the past week alone ........so our living area AC this past week has been on /off / on / off / on / off! DH & I can not quite adjust our internal thermometers to match! During summer months when on we set it to 21 degrees (& I'll be making a hot water bottle to warm my feet & dashing out to the balcony every couple of hours to warm up). In a 2 bed apartment we never have our bedroom AC on (too noisy), but leave the door open and have the living area on to circulate around & cool the place ........ it works, & doesn't keep us awake. Just turned the AC off now DH has gone to bed tho, and it'll stay off at night till the really high summer temps kick in. x

It’s taken me an eve or 2 to to respond, A: to calm down from my own stupidity, and B: put together a sensible response to your replies. Firstly, I was wound up (and mortified) when I first posted, but can I please clarify that I wasn’t reversing on a slip road, or even a service road (my words were misjudged in my haste to convey my tale). It was basically a lane (off road!) into / out of a car park and my botched reversing was no more life threatening than reversing out of a mall parking space. I am a true advocate of safe driving and clocking 270kms a day, sticking to speed limits, safe distances etc with no hiccups (plus 22 years behind the wheel in London with not one accident) leads me to believe I am generally a responsible driver! Sat nights incident was a result of my impatience, and lack of rear parking sensors for which I shall forever beat myself up about! The car loan from dealer chap did take us aback, but the dealer was in receipt of a large chunk of money (50% payment for the car we were buying and are now in receipt of), he had copies of our passports, visa’s, driving licenses, and salary certs, plus we’d met with him no less than 5 times over the course of 2 months considering the purchase of our new car. He’d clocked my driving style over 3 lengthy test drives of 2 different cars in his showroom and I did check the insurance papers to confirm I was covered to drive the Ford he lent us. The car had 100k on the clock, was prolly around 8 yrs old so hardly his prize possession. Despite it being the car his wife drives, we now figure that it was probably under dealership ownership. It was very nice of him to save us a few days car hire cost and despite natural sceptism I do sometimes believe that generosity on occasion can prevail. I pointed out the dirham sized nick from the bumper when we returned the car today, dealer chap laughed and said the other dent was far worse……. He also refused to take 32aed cash for the Salik I’d clocked up! As for Mr Pick up who’s side light I broke …….. he hasn’t called, he was quite well to do, (not pj type Indian), nicely dressed and nicely spoken. He’s not called me re the 200 AED he reckons the light will cost to fix ………… maybe he wasn’t as well to do as I thought, and maybe he wasn’t insured…….but I will still pay his repair cost if he calls. Too late for police involvement now 2 days later! Sorry, didn’t mean to rant, just wanted to put the record straight as I feel some comments were a little sensationalist, all meant in the nicest possible way I totally understand and I did ask for comments. All taken on the chin ;-) LLx PS LOVING the new car ;-) edited by Loopy Lotti on 05/04/2011

I'm about to order on line via http://www.weddingdressonlineshop.co.uk/ with a view to having final adjustments made here by a tailor. Do any of you have any experience with this co? If not can anyone recommend another on line retailer? Am terrified what looks lovely in the picture arrives looking like a dishrag!! We went a couple of weeks ago with the temps around 22 - 24 degrees. It was ok in direct sunshine but I found myself very chilly after about an hour in the water. Personally, I'd wait till it warms up a bit to late 20's early 30's (but this comes from a girl who has a hot water bottle on her lap most evenings this time of year!!). You're body thermometer may be set different .....

Over the past 3 weeks of driving to my new job from DXB to AUH (& back) ........ I have seen on average 2 car crashes (each way!!) per day ..........maybe some of those smashes / shunts, were due to the indians crossing the road ............ but I think they're probably just as much down to the idiot drivers .............. I still cant get my head around even contemplating crossing SZR or SMBR road at any time of the day ... but these guys must do coz I see them trying every day. . . . .
