I read somewhere recently that the older the eggs are the more difficult it's likely to be to get the shell off. 3 or 4 day old eggs are apparently the optimum. No idea if it's true nor where I read it! ;-)

Waitrose :-) They actually own Spinneys and you may have noticed a lot of Spinneys goods are in fact labelled as Waitrose produce. I just find Waitrose has more choice. Not cheap, but worth it in my book.

Ah glad Mr F is feeling better and enjoying some beer ;-) I've not been to the dentist in 5 years and know I SO have to go ...... head in the sand approach isn't going to work for much longer! Absolutely dreading it, as is my bank account! :-(

Excellent, many thanks BS. God knows how I missed their location map on their web site - DOH!! Good news is they're opposite me (I live in Trade Centre Apts) so can walk there :-) Thanks to you too Ashes - I'll try Compume if Safedata don't pan out for any reason. Praying I get my data back! x

Bet everyone's house is really tidy today, all the ironing is done and everyone did loads of baking & cooking... :D If it had happened last week then defo yes! But I started back at work this week after 10 weeks off!!! EW is now restricted to between 6am (ie when I get up) & 6.30am (ie when I jump in the shower - out the door by 7am), then 6pm onwards once home ..........if I'm lucky I might get bored moments at work when I can join in but in week 1 it's a no no for now. x PS Ironing - what's that???? I dont buy clothes that need ironing and I'm not sure I can even spell it correctly :-) xxx edited by Loopy Lotti on 03/02/2011

Ditto to confirm Trade Centre Apts allow dogs ....... love the apts, a bit dated, but pretty spacious (close to 1500sqft for 2 bedroom) and the facils are great with 25m pool + pool bar (brilliant luxury), gym, good social aspects etc etc etc. Looking at around 7 or 8k a month for a 2 bedder. HTH x

Phewwwy!! Thank crunchie EW is back on line - I was beside myself last night!!! :-) Big day not until the 10th Feb (I do like to plan ahead :-), but despite all the great recommendations below we've plumped for the Grand Grill @ Habtoor Grand Hotel. We went there on a spur of the moment dinner a few weeks back and as huge meat lovers we enjoyed it immensely. The brunch is within price range, is central for our guests and they have a DJ which will give it a party atmosphere (we hope!). Looking forward to it! But thanks for all your suggestions - have made a list and will work our way through all of them over the coming year (can't brunch tooo often, it obliterates the weekend!). Just on a side point - we brunched at Anise at Festival City's Intercontinental last week - live band which were pretty mediocre but got better as the afternoon wore on (not that that had anything to do with the amount of alcohol consumed of course ;-), continous top up of fizz, excellent food selection where they cook to order and bring to your table along with the usual buffet fare ...... I think it came in around 300 DHS which we thought was pretty good value. Would recommend! BFN - will report back re Grand Grill brunch once done :-) x edited by Loopy Lotti on 03/02/2011

I had exactly 18 fat spots of rain on my windscreen on my way home from work this eve (AD to DXB), was hopeful as I think I actually prefer rain to wind and sand. But as the 19th drop was about to fall .............it stopped!!! Arrrrggghh! Dear Mr Sky, Please pretty please send us lots of dust settling rain and we promise to be your friends for ever :-) Lots of Love, LL & the EW ladies x

FOUL!!! Just drove home from work in Abu Dharb to DXB. The wind and the sand were pure YUK from Yuksville! There was about a 5km stretch where you couldnt actually see the road surface for swirling sand across all lanes. Of course it takes more than a bit of sand to slow down the idiots doing 170km trying to jump on my bumper!! Glad to be home and hoping it clears up and b*ggers off soon!!

Just a v quick reply as I'm supervising tea ........... When my DH was offered the job here (for a semi govt owned co) his boss interviewed him in London (after a telephone interview) and at that stage DH began salary neg's ...... his boss gave him verbally a figure that DH was happy with, then when the official offer letter came through a couple of weeks later from HR (a couple of weeks later yes!!) the letter stated the salary at 20% less ....... DH jumped onto the phone to the HR dept and basically negotiated and got his salary back to what was originally verbally offered. I think it's just the way here, they'll get away with what they can .............. Hopefully your friend can make them see what's she's worth and all works out ok.....my tip is just to tell her to at least have a go back at them!! Good luck to her! x

I'm about to order Downton Abbey from it. Has anyone had trouble with parcels being delivered to Dubai from the UK website? Never had a problem, and usually arrives within 10 days to 2 weeks. You do have a multi region DVD player though??? If not you'll find the DVD won't play....just a thought (my folks left the box set with me this Xmas, none of us gave a thought to DVD regions and sure enough we can't play it).

Obscure question indeed, but I hear what you're saying :) ..... I think it's probably because cabin crew actually WORK whereas the DNATA EK staff simply sit behind a desk all day trying to look pretty (& using the veil to cover as much of their faces if they're not overly blessed in the pretty dept!). The hats alone would drive me potty let alone the veil!! Luckily I don't work for EK!

WOW - divine very [b'>promptly [/b'>book marked!!! I wouldn't ever consider such a thing thinking the costs would be way out of my league. But, having had a quick look at her site I think (especially if spread over 2 pay days) it's totally affordable! Thank you ladies! Now don't forget you are allowed to say no to anything suggested, but for your own sake you should at least give it thought before you do. Its only by saying no that Kelly will get more of a feel for the way you think about how you want to look. Just don't go along with things cos you're scared to hurt her feelings. Only you will know what would suit your lifestyle. Wise words DR - I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks again ;-)

I also HATE shopping, hours of trudging from shop to shop to finally find something I love to discover they don't have it in my size, or it just looks rubbish on me. The type of shopping trip I go for is like the one this afternoon, in prep for (finally!!) starting a new job tmrw. Fly into M&S and within 30 mins I leave with x3 shirts and a new suit, next door (ish) into Dune and I have a pair of suitable shoes - 40 mins later, back in the car on the way home :-) Weekends I roam about in mainly jeans & t-shirts & if I see something I like I tend to buy on the spot as I hate obligatory shopping trips. Party wear - now that's always the most difficult I find and my wardrobe is sadly seriously lacking :-( ETA: of course NOTHING I bought (wanted) in M&S was in the sale - another reason I hate shopping - lol! edited by Loopy Lotti on 30/01/2011

Shepherds Pie + butternut squash (roasted with garlic and rosemary) um- why not make a butternut squash mash to go on top of the shepherd's pie? Nice idea but I'm too much of a glutton for my cheesy mash :-)

methinks there may be a troll in the house ....... I could be wrong!!! DONT cut them!!! I be too scared to even try!!! My mother thought it cool to pluck out all her eyebrows in her late teens, they never ever grew back properly and I suspect lashes would not recover either from cutting!! Try dipping an old mascare brush in vasoline and applying. Will nurish the lashes, make them shiny (sp) and will enhance the length + preserve! Really, where ? The same place where they may actually cut out your eye lids too :-)

Love em all!!! Except when trying to switch devices as I'm in the middle of right now ....... it's taking ages and switching all data from one to the other just aint happening (says fatal error when transfering what's backed up in desk top mgr to new device - boooo hoooo!!). I've imported all contacts ok, but lost all my BBM contacts & will have to reload FB and various other bits n bobs. Started with a pearl some years ago now, upgraded to a bold, downgraded to a curve and am now switching back to a bold (the curve track pad was playing up intermitendly (sp)). Still, despite my current frustration switching devices I think the bold is my fave of the family. DH has a torch & I find it just a bit too heavy for my lightweight handbag :-)
