UK passports holders have the right to reside in the UK. I am not sure about other classifications of British Citizen, those born in the territories for example. You get a 6 month visa on entry, and then you cannot re-enter for 3 months, but then if you re-enter you get a 6 month again. Unless it has changed. Went in 2006, we have been living out of UK at that point for 2 years, so you should not have a problem, but check with the NZ immigration website or their embassy if unsure

Just a quick note for those that are having electric shock problems. This has been reported across forums and a few solutions have been given that you may wish to try. iStyle ship many of their products with a Euro 2-pin adapter. I picked up a new 3-pin magsafe in Hong Kong to replace mine and it seems to have solved the problem. The other thing is ensure you are using the long plug lead not the travel one, apparently it has a better grounding. I do recommend a Speck case anyway as they do provide protection for your Mac. But my electrical discharge was coming through my iPhone and iPad while charging off the Mac as well! I forgot to mention. Hong Kong is the cheapest place to buy Apple products, they have a huge Apple store and it's US prices but tax free! Mine was bought in Singapore, so has UK style 3 pin plug and the desktops have too, so it must be something else

MaiTai - get used to the rains :-) in Singapore. I'm looking forward to the 'eternal sunshine',of the Middle East. Yes, Singapore has gotten a whole more crowded compared to just four years ago, but it is still a fantastic multi~cultural experience for the family Dee2013 - does it really rain EVERY DAY?? It always looks like that on the weather forecast. Also - still looking for a good relocation company that has also got offices there - would you happen to know one? Micro climates exist in Singapore, different parts of the island have diff weather conditions. It was very breezy in Changi, and not rain every day, but maybe every 2/3 days. In Upper Bukit Timah rain every day, for at least 2 hours, torrential at times and amazing lightening...of course the highest point of Singapore is Bukit Timah Hill at 183m above sea level, our first house was on the side of this hill <em>edited by loube on 11/03/2013</em>

Here one tip for Mai Tai: register your children to more than one school asap ! Waiting lists exist in almost every school in Singapore. What I loved the most compared to Dubai was the amazing international social environment and the down to earth attitude of the expat community. What I hate the most was ... ..feeling claustrofhobic even in the parks Thanks a lot. (Very) luckily DH will work at school so kids automatically get space there. Not many benefits for teachers but that's a huge one if u have kids! And: Even though we only went for a few days I SO know what u mean about the claustrophoby!!! Looking up those buildings and then the cameras everywhere...no wide open spaces unless you're in the middle of the botanic garden... To escape the heat head for the highlands in Malaysia, very cool and not so humid

Hi. we moved from Singapore 18 months ago. Lived in Changi, about 5km from airport (you could not hear the planes) rented a 5 bedroom house with pool on Toh Drive, off upper changi road east (this is the road where the mens prison is, lol) it cost 11,700 SGD per month. Lovely. Really miss it. Looked at some houses on mountbatten road, this has a good bus route on it. I'd say siglap/telok would be ok, depends if you would be wanting to use public transport, or if you will have cars. I expect UWC (the big new campus out at Tampines) would have a school bus service. There are mossy's, but it is quite breezy in Changi so we did not notice them so much, as in our first house over in Upper Bukit Timah (5 bed with pool renting at 10,500 pcm) You can rent a landed house as we did, or a cluster house (which is a group of houses around a pool, this is quite common) I read there are only around 22000 landed houses in Singapore. A friend of mine is in a black & white, you rent them from gov, they are protected, gorgeous, but of course they are taken very quickly Good Luck! edited by loube on 11/03/2013 <em>edited by loube on 11/03/2013</em>

my family have been MAC since 2004. We have macbookpro, and one of the old macbooks (white one) and 2 x desktop MAC. I prefer the white glass casing of the previous generation macbooks, as the metal casings on the pro and the desktops give me electric static shocks. got around this for the pro by buying a speck plastic casing to cover it, so not too bad would not go back to Windows, but for kids if they need one for school we will, as MAC is just too dear

hi Loube how have you found your first few days doing this? I started today, nearly 4pm and 72cals consumed so doing ok! edited by kates01 on 04/03/2013 Hi I do fast day 4 tomorrow, and have lost 1 kg so far. I am not enjoying the fast day, I feel so tired at the end of the day, I fall asleep early, it is really odd. The meal plans in the fast diet book are helpful though, take the effort out of wondering what you could eat for 500 calls!!! Only £3 as a kindle, but 52dhs the book is in kinokuniya, going to buy the recipe book when it comes out in a month or two

Hi I just started today, and chose this as one of my fast days. Using the forum, and the book and I also use an app off mac store called perfect diet tracker...it has all prestored foods in data base, records body dimensions, gives you instant BMI and you can print reports too. It will sync across devices with dropbox Good Luck to all! PS I lost 25kg last year on Dukan, but no success with maintenance, so I am hopeful this will bring me to my goal weight and help with maintenance = have around 6 kg to lose

I ahve 2 rather large white rabbits that have a two-level bunny condo that they stay in....most of the day they run free in the back though. My girls and i were talking about getting guinea's but we have no experience with them. I assumed they stayed in the house if alone and was wondering if they also would roam free in the yard? If they do not mix well with rabbits I am unsure if our home is best for them. I read they were child friendly and we have a lot of love here. But i would not want them in danger if the rabbits are an issue Hi blondie007 probably best not to mix the 2 types, esp as mine are quite young/small. GPs live to 5-7 years maybe longer and they can get to 1 kg or more in weight. I would look for a *** about 18 months old, if you want to mix them with rabbits. But please note they do eat different foods.

Hi sorry for delay, been on vacation I am not sure about guinea and rabbits, vets advise not to mix them....but it does depend on the variety of rabbit. My remaining **** are in pairs and need to be rehomed as such, they are only 3 months old so I would be wary about the rabbits... Also, they eat different foods, esp, the dried foods and 80% of their diet is hay (timothy hay). Regards edited by loube on 21/02/2013 <em>edited by loube on 22/02/2013</em>

my baby is 8 months and its not hugely different to his 6 month routine. 7/8am- 5oz bottle and either weetabix/porridge or toast (i make 7oz but will only take 5oz) 11.30am- lunch- fish/chicken/meat with veg/potatoes 2.30pm- 6oz bottle 4pm- snack of some fruit or rice cake 5pm- dinner similar to lunch, yoghurt/fruit pot for desert 6.30pm- 6oz bottle he also always has water throughout the day. i cant comment if he is having enough or not but does he seem hungry still after you have given him his food? if he is then give him some more if not then maybe he prefers smaller portions more frequent. my DS was 4kg at birth so is a big boy so has always ate well. yours sounds like myDS3, he was 4.2 kg birthweight and was on same schdule as yours

Mine is like this and I wonder if its right? I'm worried hes not having enough milk/solids? 8am- 5 ounce bottle 10:30am- Half jar of baby food 1pm- 5 ounce bottle 3:30pm- Half jar of baby food 6pm- 5 ounce bottle 8:30pm- Half jar of baby food 11pm- 4 ounce dream feed 3:30am- 4 ounce bottle dream feed My first boy was weaned in UK, under guidance of health visitor and I can say I started weaning at 4 months with baby rice, at 6 months he was eating more than you are feeding yours, and still taking 4 x 7oz bottles a day, I would say it depends on the weight of your child and his bone structure. All my kids were/are in 90th centile upwards for their size, height , weight so there are many factors. By 8 motnhs the HV suggested I drop the bottles to 3 a day, early morning feed, early afternoon (just before nap) and bedtime feed....in between give cooled boiled water only. Perhaps you need some professional advice if you are concerned as every child/family is different <em>edited by loube on 11/02/2013</em>

Hi Britchick4, I asked on the forum few weeks ago, if anybody had good reference for babysitters. Just like you we want to only use it occasionally (diner out without kids, etc..). Someone mentioned http://busybeesdubai.com/ I don't know if this is the info you are looking for. I have not used them yet, but def. plan to do so in near future.. If you use them, please give feedback..(I will do the same..) Goodluck! I checked busy bees out, quick erply to my email to say they do not service Green Community at DIP, so maybe you will have better luck with them

Now you can do courses with the Uk Society for Editors and Proofreaders, it looks very comprehensive, and if I were wanting to gain a true qualification then I would go down this route. Website is http://www.sfep.org.uk/default.asp and Good Luck!! You maybe onto a winner here in Dubai!

I doubt his employer will pay for it ... they cost about 170 from memory ( I might be wrong .. got mine made a few years ago and cant rememer ) and you get it from the airport. Go upstairs ( terminal 1 ) and you can get it made from there. If he is a Skywards Gold you can get that convertred into an E Gate. Call Skywards and they will be able to help you. The E Gate doesnt always work and you will still end up in a que ! Great when it does edited by mushypeas on 20/01/2013 If you are Skywards Silver you can do it for 5000 miles, plus the 10 dhs admin fee too
