Is it ok if I'm just a little bit jealous here?!?? I'm the woman that has space in the tv cabinet for a 50" tv yet DH decided that 32" is more than enough... Oh and once I left him in the mall for 30 minutes to buy shoes and he came back with a pair of hideous blue checkered shoes that he thought was a great deal because they were Quiksilver and reduced to less than half the price!!! I'm happy to trade for the 800dhs rubbish bin!!! Lol just for a few days, then I'm sure I would want my gadget hating husband back!!! despite not liking TV I have to say it is a pleasure watching a HD movie on a 50" screen, it has to be in your home to be appreciated, I have put my foot down at 50" though, as 60" is obscene and DH has been hankering for one of those edited by loube on 31/01/2013

Does anybody give their 9 year old pocket money?? Mine gets 10dhs a week, plus the tooth fairy comes every so often and leaves 20 dhs for a tooth, he had 2 fall out in 1 week recently. All he does is buy sweets with it, and if he has a bit more it will be a tat-toy, which he will play with until it breaks. 11 year old gets 20 dhs and 13 year old gets 30 dhs....however they are also given snack money for school if needed, not every day and we pay for everything else

used Marhaba Silver in Dec/Jan for FIL (76yrs with hernia, waiting for op). My only comment would be that on the exit leg, the lounge was so full and no one offered to find him a seat!! If there is a next time I will try Ahlan

Also Marriott at Green Community, DIP has 3 bed serviced accom. I am sure there will some fraser suites or similar too. Good Luck! The Laiya is no alcohol, so we stayed at the Marriott @ marina

DS1 is 13. He is not allowed to hang out at the mall. He is allowed to go to the mall with a friend to watch a movie, being dropped off and picked up by me at an agreed time. He is not allowed to take a taxi by himself, but with a friend is ok. I am sure as he gets older I will relax about this...15 is a suitable age IMO

Skrill Moneybookers is legit. I have used them for a payment for an online game for my kids. BUT they used to be called money bookers.com and around Sept 2011 they changed their name to the present one. Their email does say do not reply to anything emailed from them unless it is from www.moneybookers.com So perhaps you do not need to worry, or you could call them and try to get more info

how about a dog walking service, homely petz and others offer that. If it is just to exercise the dog and allow it to do its business half way through the day.

So I have a 4yr old DD and have never had a night up with her (I know very lucky) but I also have a 16 month DS who has been completely different from day one to his sister. The main thing is although I have followed the exact same routine with them and my husband and myself are not early risers he seems to be completely the opposite he goes to bed at 7 every evening, you can never guarantee that he won't cry out or wake up during the evening where we have to go in be it not every night but .......... He also has this internal alarm clock from anytime from 5.30am onwards where he wakes up now we can stall him for about 20mins with a bottle of milk but come 6 ish that's him ready to start his day, if he wakes at 6.30/6.45 he has had a lie in. This all started when he was about 3 months old and he went from getting up at 8 ish to 7 ish and we have never been able to go back,I have tried the cry out, blackout curtains, music, stopping with him in his room till 7 in the hope it gets it but no joy. Is this a boy thing ,second child syndrome or just my fate for the next 10 years !!!!! Appreciate any suggestions, from a very tired working mom. sounds just like my DS1, he slept through the night finally at 4 years old, after going through all the growth spurts, teething, getting up in the night to pee (toilet training), I do hope yours settles sooner, it wiped me out, and by the time he settled I had DS2 at 2 years old and a baby...so was not getting much kip at all! Mine is still an early riser, we got up at 5,30am for almost every day of these 4 years...saw many a sunrise in the kids playroom, lol

if you have any intention of returning to UK AFTER doing a PGCE here, I would advise you to wait until Mr Gove has decided what he has in store for the teaching profession in terms of the training required to become one. I may have misunderstood but I thought I read he was considering abandoning the PGCE altogether!!!

For Singapore, with kids you could stay at the Hard Rock hotel on Sentosa Island, there is a monorail off the island, into Vivocity (large shopping mall) and at Vivo you can pick up the metro which takes you to all the main areas.

I would say, it would depend whether your DH was going to be in senior, prep, pre-prep or infant.......as from teachers point of view I cannot say regards the construction, a lot of new classrooms have opened up this academic year, there has been a 20% increase in students, the remaining buildings are due to be opened this year and look to be on target for that, which includes senior school library and performing arts centre Facilities shortage is not the issue at Repton, disparity between the two sides of the school (junior integration into seniors) is by far the biggest area which needs improvement in my opinion.....a real prep school would have a prep school from year 6 to year 8, not year 5 & 6 only. Year 7 is too harsh for the kids in my opinion.

I have a small farm of these lovely animals, and before I leave Dubai this year need to find them new homes. They live in pairs, one neutered male and a female, they have cage etc already so all you need to buy is their food. I can recommend an online home delivery service for that. They are cuddly, do not escape from cage or bite, and they like humans!! If interested leave a message here and I'll send you pictures etc... Of course there is no fee.

I had my vaccine nearly 3 years ago in Singapore. The GP gave good information. 2 vaccines on the market. Cervarix which is UK origin, and gives shield against 70% of cervical cancer types, and the US one (can't recall the name, begins with a G I think) which shields for a lower percentage of cancer types but will shield against genital warts, this one he suggested is best for teens and young people. As the vaccines are new i.e. those administered on the public have not reached the end of the 10 year coverage they are supposed to give he could not be sure what the longterm outcome would be if you took it. I opted to have it, but others may choose not to.

this is my trauma too, my mattress takes 15 inch deep sheets. I went to Index at Dubai mall as they stock asian sizes, esp. Thai sizes as the mattresses in Thailand are very deep. The aussino brand had some. But to be frank I have recently ordered from Sealy in the US, via shop n ship and I am pleased with them. Other brands I have are Hallmark, and a set from Jim Thompson. Best of Luck

I have a Gaggia Academia (got it in UK, as garden centre price is almost double). I would say espresso, latte machiato are the best on this machine. It is made by Philips and is the same as the saeco brand. I would not choose one again. Before that we had a Krups, it was always wanting new water filters, cost a lot per month to maintain. I would say that JURA are probably the best ones, but of course it depends what you are looking for in terms of quality

Was wondering if anyone had seen any wreaths made from real tree? Not going to be in town for Cmas this year, so don't see the point in getting a tree, but would like something. I recall seeing them last year, but can't recall where? Visited Satwa this weekend, saw plenty of real trees, but no wreaths made of real pine branches. I bought a beautiful big one today from ACE Festival city -- real pine, pine cones etc -- for 149dhs. All you have to do is keep it hydrated by spraying it with water daily. Looks gorgeous. :) Just interested to know how tall it is, we want 7ft, and I will be heading there tomorrow, wondering if I'll be going home with a tree after the visit instead of my onward shopping!

Can I just ask, why on earth do you have 21 guinea ****??? That can't be a pleasant situation for anyone, particularly if you live in an apartment! Ha, ha I live in a family villa , five bed with big garden! Sadly was not quick enough with the neutering so three piggies had eight babies between them, now I have 13. I have re homed 4 recently, and put 5 in the pet shop at green community. The rest are available in twos with cages included You do have to clean the cages often or else the smell becomes stronger but now they go in the garden for an hour or so each day so lots of pooping is done outside on the grass

Hi We are now the proud new owners of a guinea *** and would like to have a run in the garden for him. Does anyone know where I can buy one, or get one made? TIA Congratulations, Would he be looking for a companion by any chance? I have many looking for new homes, with cages. You can make a run by buying the metal, dog enclosure and putting plastic chicken wire around it secured with tie wraps that is what we have for our lovelies They prefer to live in pairs or more, hence my question!! edited by loube on 03/12/2012
