Hi I have put this on classifieds but not sure if anyone has read it, I have 5 baby piggies looking for new homes, one is 7 week old female, and a 6 week old male, and 3 6 week old females. Good pets for children as they are not biters or escape artists. Easy to care for and love to be handled. Like to live in at least twos, best not to put male/female together unless one is neutered, If interested you can reply to me via the classifieds advert Many thanks, I really do not want to have to put them in the pet shop, but I am congested with 21 piggies at home!! Hi! Are you giving them away for free? I might be interested but I need to consult it with DH first. Where do you live? Could I see their photos anywhere? Hi Cheezu sorry just saw your message I have many available still. Now coming with the cages for FREE, and water bottle food bowl. I live at DIP, and I can email you photos if you like or you can reply to my classified ad posted on Oct 29th under FREE PETS I have 6 that are 1 year old, 4 that are about 10 months old, and then 3 ( 2 female and 1 male) which are coming up to 5 weeks old. The male is not neutered yet so he is sharing a cage with another boar who is around 10 months old, and they are getting along well. I would prefer to let them go in their existing arrangements as I know the pairings are getting along well. i am more flexible with the baby piggies though! edited by loube on 23/11/2012

Sorry, I just realised that I made a typo that changed the meaning of what I was trying to say. The amnesty allows people who have been working Illegally, usually for very long periods of time, to go home. they will still need their passport though

Amanda I disagree with the info on here, and what people have told you. We have a diamond outback 3 burner and use gas supplied by emirates gas in a 13.7kg bottle, and they gave us the adaptor thingy too. It is 75dhs for a refill. It is not special gas, propane is for campinggaz stoves, not for your regular BBQ unless you have a very special unit. maybe webber bbq only use this propane but not all BBQ are the same Thanks everyone. In a real tizz now - went to the place in Karama yesterday as usual to get 3 bottles refilled..same place as the admin link refers to. The most miserable guy watched me double parking....always chokka up there...and then watched me struggle in with 2 bottles (nearly broke his glass door trying to open it carrying 2 cylinders...but he still just stood watching me from the other side of the glass!) I then had to move car and eventually went back in with the 3rd bottle...only for him to tell me very smugly that all bottles had expired and I couldn't refil them. Left them all there for him to dispose of...and probably make some recycling money on - he was such a git!! Asked if they did contracts - his reply 'We don't do contracts, we don't collect and we don't deliver'......I felt like saying 'and you don't do [i'>helpful[/i'> either...' So, seeing as I can't bear to ever give him one more of my precious dirhams, are the orange bottles that you can get delivered totally rubbish for the bbq? ......not the end of the world really but I resent his attitude :( you dont need to buy the little propane gas which is expensive, you can just use the normal gas for your gas cooker etc, just need to buy a new hose and adapator I agree

complete rubbish about it being illegal to fill up via DEWA, where do you get your info from? Also, you do not get overcharged, you pay for the litres you have used and the banding and respective charging is transparent. I have a 18m x 6 m pool and have filled it twice using DEWA, direct from garden tap inflow (so no pump being exhausted, and the water flows in at a steady rate, not affecting supply to the rest of the house) and the cost was around 1500 dhs on top of our usual water bill

I thought the amnesty was to allow those whose visa had expired to exit the country without having to pay over stay fines. I would imagine you would still need your passport to leave and to enter the destination country.

for 13.7 kg cylinder with emirates gas a refill is 75 dhs, and to get the whole canister we were quoted 420 dhs - just last weekend. we ditched the idea of a spare and just opted for the refill depends where you live, if in gated community ask security guards at gate for names/numbers of the ones who come by your community

DEWA is cost effective, but it will take a couple of days to fill your pool. A tanker is not any cheaper really. Shout me down, and give Buttercup some help if you disagree

I have to say we have had more than our fair share of the poor service from this provider. If we had a choice we would walk away from them immediately. The customer comes first. These people are paid to serve the customer, not sit around in their behinds. The woman was right, and they were wrong, although she could have chosen slightly less inflammatory language to get her point across.

I live at green community, we have chiller a/c. One of the causes of an overly high bill can be the actuator valves. If you have a faulty one the flow is not switched off when you turn off a/c so usage is still being recorded. You need to get someone to check it if it is way over what you usually pay for this time of the year.

Hi Louise has left Dubai I believe for Doha or somewhere else in ME, it is now Denice Ann Collins. She lives in Victory heights. She did my colours about 4 months ago. The way it is profiled now is improved and you do see your eyes pop with some shades rather than others, She does make up lessons too, as they have make up. Her number is 050 552 8541

hi Coriander When I read your post I just had to login...I lived in bangkok 2004 - 2009 and then moved to Singapore 2009 - 2011, and then moved here. I have 3 kids, when we arrived in Bangkok they were ages 5,3 and 14 months, for me it was a culture shock, but to be honest we had an absolutely fantastic time there with small kids. The expat network is strong and binding, the schools are very good, many to choose from and nationalities have their own clubs which offer social opportunities. You can hire home help easily for a reasonable cost, and many people hire drivers, which means you can keep your kids amused in long traffic queues and you only need one car! I am so glad this was our first place to live overseas with the children. I would say if you like very clean, and are particular about the shops you frequent then maybe it is not for you. Many of my friends used to take weekend breaks to Singapore to shop for clothing they could not find in BAngkok. It has a vibe, and there is a lot to do for kids and adults. I would love to go back. When we moved to Singapore our boys were 6,8,10. Singapore is a good place for slightly older kids, but you do see lots of mums and babes. It is highly developed, clean and well run country. Shopping is very good, schools are very good but watch that you apply early as there were long wait lists in 2009 when we were going through that process. UWCSEA now has opened a new huge campus if you are into IB, and that has eased some of the congestion. Tanglin is the usual British Curriculum school, but Dover Court is also good (up to IGCSE only). Singapore is a safe place for children, you often see kids getting in taxis by themselves, certainly from 12 years onwards it would be okay to allow them to do this. One issue, rent, it is high. Public transport is cheap but very congested. I would research the school, work, home triangle carefully if you moved there and planned to use public transport. Loved both places...and we are moving on from here next year, to South Africa so who knows, but if I had the chance to return I would go back to Singapore with the children, and I would choose Bangkok say for a last tour Good Luck!:) edited by loube on 05/11/2012

you can fill in the form anytime, and send it to HMRC, telling the letting agent you have done so. You will get the money refunded when you submit your tax return if your total rent is under the annual tax free amount. Usually you fill in the bank details section for HMRC to send refunds direct to your bank account. The agent will hold onto your 'tax' deducted amount until the year end and send it to HMRC, so they are in effect using your cash until that time.. Good Luck

I blame the agents letting these houses. Who would let a house knowing this was going to befall the tenant, greedy and selfish most of them. Of course the short term is to see through your contract and maybe 'pay' your neighbour a small fee to share their rubbish bin, then get the **** out of there

Hi I have just started year 2, and for me this feels like a turning point, familiarity with the family routine has set in. I cannot say Dubai will ever grow on me, it definitely is a stop off on the way to somewhere else, and I cannot say that some where else will be better or worse. My main issue is always moving....I am tired of it, exhausted - 5 moves in 3 years and 2 countries. For my kids sake, they are nearing the time to be studying for their exams we need to stay put somewhere..anywhere, and then if I have guarantee for some fixed time in one place then I will feel more settled. The advice of make the most of it is really good advice. The Time Out mag is a great information tool and you can involve your child in deciding what the family should do for relax time. Good Luck, give it 6 months, then 1 year and see how you feel entering into the year 2 mark, it does get better with time. We do not go back to UK for the summer BTW, and as hard as it is here during that time it helps.

it is the municipality tax on yoru dewa bill? Yes...5% of your rent, paid monthly (IF your LL has registered the property with RERA) We've paid it in properties where the contract wasn't registered with DEWA. As edna says, it seems it's simply pot luck if you're on the inefficient side of the fence or the efficient side! Oh my yes, it is inefficient! But the property (and contract) have to be registered with RERA (not DEWA ;) ) in order to attract the attention of the housing tax powers that be. Our Emirati LL collected our rent direct from us and never had the property on the books with RERA, so no housing fee. LOL...he used it as one of the selling points when we signed up. (Best villa and nicest LL we had there. :) ) not sure this is true, we live in Green Comm, the houses here cannot be rera registered presently (although that is in process of changing due to move from leasehold to freehold) but we have always paid the tax on our rental property

Let's be sensible here, if Iran push the button, or drop the bombs they will be impacted by the fall out, as we are really quite close as a country..... Yeah, what is the line of business? Is it an online business? After eight months your business would probably not have much inherent value, other than stocks if you have these, and a customer base will still be being established. You maybe better to advertise for someone to run it for you, in your absence. Am sure some Ladies would be interested, me too if we knew what the business was all about.. I plan to be in Dubai for three more years so your timings would work for me.... edited by loube on 27/06/2012 edited by loube on 27/06/2012

They have said they will close the Straits of Hormuz in the event of an embargo, which has now been effected. The response to that situation is what is the concern I think which wikkid & CA refer to. Glad about that, not read anything about this in the gulf news yesterday, anyhow if they close the strait I guess flights out of this country will be affected due to the danger in the airspace.....
