The groom works for my husband, a few levels below. The bride chatted with my teen daughter at a soccer game once. I believe they are both Lebanese. Entire family invited to the wedding next week in the evening. Do we wear the same sort of attire as in the US? I'm thinking a knee-length dressy dress? I hate to make a huge faux-pas. Thanks! Not white! Yes knee length dress with perhaps a jacket or pashmina

How awful. Something very wrong happening in the UK these days. Hope we never have to move back there! Would you give up your UK passport though ;-) I would, actually, depending on the circumstances. Not even sure I'm going to get one for my son (he has another nationality), that's how much I want to go back there! I love it here but it will always be my home :-)

Am I the only one trying to understand why Brody was present when Walden died? I mean, he was just asked to get the serial number of the pacemaker, not stand and watch him die and give him a piece of his mind. I'm also curious to see how Dana and Finn's accident story is going to weave in with the main plot. I'm so addicted :( I am sooo disappointed with Season 2 :-(

Ive been in Dubai for 4 years now, and as im about to go through a divorce, i would like to meet other women who have been through a similar case as mine. i think my friends who are married are so bored to tears with my ranting and stories. You do not need to be divorced to do that haha

I would change your numbers, change his emails, if he has caller display at work not answer her calls. Use the spy hole if she calls round, if he lives in a building with security tell them to not let her in. This happened to me once and the guy wasnt the problem his ex wouldnt take no for an answer. Ignorance is the best way and eventually she will go away. If he responds to her in anyway then she will see that as a sign he still likes her. ( Brain works in strange ways) She won't carry out her threat she is just hurting and sounds bitter I would ignore, ignore, ignore... change your numbers too. It isnt expensive and will give you both peace of mind. Unfortunately some ladies and men are bunny boilers. Eventually she will realise and feel very stupid for her behaviour. She should bow out gracefully with some dignity

Gardener! I know these posts are boring but after 10 months of trials, disappointment and wasted money I have found an actual gardner who * does come 6 days a week * speaks and understands english very well * knows names of plants, grass types and how to care for them and what is the best place to plant them regarding shade/sun etc * charges same price for plants if you were to go out to the wholesale nurseries near Dragon Mart * identified the grass the previous 'gardener' laid was full of worms that eat the roots of the grass and then in turns kills the grass! So he put a pellet on the grass that killed the worms and didn't charge for the pellets! Will pay him though. * He replaced the square meter of old grass that the old 'gardner' had filled as he ran out when laying the grass but put in totally different grass type so the unmatched patch look pathetic! Oh and he didn't charge me for that too but again I will pay him! So please if you want a good reliable proper gardener - not just a hose holder call him Adbul Ghafar 050 253 3603 Service area The Lakes and possibly Meadows and Springs. Enjoy your garden this cool season! Hi I wouldn't advertise his number or name as this is illegal and i wouldn't want him to get into trouble :-) You never know who reads this forum and may report him

I have just renewed my licence and at A&E you have to spend 150AED plus tax ( Around 200AED) and you get 1 item free on the list that is on the back of the vouchers You don't get 150AED free booze if that makes sense

Please help! I'm surprising a friend by taking her to Dubai for a couple of nights for her birthday. I'd love to get some ideas of where we can go for a great night out - meal, drinks, maybe a band but at least somewhere that has a great atmosphere. We'd be there on a Wednesday and Thursday evening if that helps. Also, I need it to be affordable - nothing too expensive. We'd be staying in Deira - I'm assuming it's easy enough to get around town with the Metro? Also, what could we do on a Friday morning? Is it like Doha where shops aren't open and cafes close for morning prayers? Any suggestions most gratefully received x Most of the places i know of arent that cheap to be honest The only bands i know of are at Byblos the Marina ( bar with bar food) Jambase which is expensive and no all the cafes do not close, nothing stops during prayer time The music room in Bur Dubai is okay but the food not great Tuesday nights are ladies night where they give free cheap waterdowned spirits and nasty wine. Look online at Time Out Dubai, this may give you an idea

We use John Lewis and Amazon a lot, oh and boots.com. edited by Sugarbeach on 02/12/2012 Do you need a UK credit card for John Lewis as i had massive problems trying to order from Debenhams and House of Fraser with a UAE card ( billing address and delivery address have to be the same) I don't know because I use my UK John Lewis credit with a uk billling address, so I wouldn't know what problems I might encounter if that isn't the case. Having a different delivery address to billing address shouldn't be a problem normally. However I seem to remember that you do need to be logged onto your Vee Pee En when you process the credit transaction otherwise you get problems. It has to be a UK credit card or a foreign one with the same billing address as the delivery address. I called CS and asked Thanks anyway

I think the car parades should not be banned..As long as its done without disrupting or causing havoc. Emiratis love cars and it gives them an opportunity to 'show off' their cars whilst enjoying national day.. It also eye candy for onlookers... As long as they don't drive like F1 drivers on SZR sitting on the roofs of their cars as they did one national day. I also thought they could decorate their cars just not block the windscreen and side windows as some did

Can someone please advise on the process for canceling a maid's visa. Does it need to be done in advance, or can it be done at the airport on the day of her departure? We have Dubai visas, but she will be departing from Sharjah Airport. Sorry, but am totally clueless and need to sort this ASAP as she is leaving on Saturday. TIA I would call immigration

Also, my children love spending time with mummy and daddy together on holiday. There were a few families where we were staying that had brought their nanny along. Like us they spent most days around the pool but with parents sunbathing, nanny playing with children. Each to their own but I'd rather my children remembered childhood holidays as lovely time spent with us rather than with our maid who will be long gone by that time. They are only little once, I'm sure it won't be long before they spend holidays trying to avoid us! I agree, we grew up living near grandparents so they looked after us alot We could not wait to go on holidays as it meant we had Mum and Dads undivided attention :-)

Just a little heads up in re to Sheba Beauty lounge - you may pay with your card but they will not put a tip on the total for you. You must bring cash for the tip. This may be the norm here in DXB don't know. It just really took me off guard and I was unprepared as I am used to just adding the tip to my total and putting it on my card. Is it Sheba or Shima?

aaargh so the Next online store says billing and delivery address needs to be the same! Now trying to think which address I used to register my bank account.... Can you use a UAE C/C with a UAE address then? They have to be the same one - no separate billing / delivery address. I've worked it out and just ordered a Christmas pudding romper!! For baby not me lol! I have seen several pairs of boots, my bank account will take a hammering

What you are looking for is very hard to find. In fact isn't working from home illegal in many cases because of visa restrictions? It is illegal. It's only legal if you have a company who offers you a labour card but then says you can do your job from a remote desk (home). Thank you i thought it was :-)
