hey there.... i do not think that a utility bill has to be given to apply for a residency.... howerer, in regards to the utility bill i would suggest that your friend does have it put in their name as if dewa found out that it had not been changed, there would be a fine as dewa charges a housing fee to everyone....(whether they would find out is another matter....) also, will the landlord provide you with the bills for payment each month...??? also, if it is in the landlords name, you would not be able to cancel it, but he could!!!!! best to do it the proper way as you just never know....... Mine is registered in my name ( I am renting) i set it up at DEWA when the last tenant cancelled

Hi I have a year 9 daughter that is currently at boarding school in UK and I would like to bring her over to Dubai, I have looked into several schools namely; Wellington, Jumeirah college, Dubai British school and The English college. The English college may have a place in April, I would really welcome any comments regarding the schools mentioned specifically the English College from parents who have kids placed in those schools. Thanks My colleague said The English college is the best of the bunch

Easy to get an alcohol licence just visit MMI or A and E and pick up a form all the required papaerwork is listed on the form The Marina would be nice and for 180 you would get a nice apartment Downtown would be nice too

Hey ladies I am collecting my sister from T3 soon ( YEAY!!! :D) but will have to carry my baby into arrivals in her maxi cosi as i wont have enough space in the car for her buggy and the cases. Does anyone know which is closer to the main arrivals door - valet or the normal parking? Did the same with T1 a few weeks ago and valeted only to find out we had to walk what felt like miles carrying her and would have been better off just with the normal parking! Grrr! TIA :) xx The regular parking isn't that far from arrivals ( 2 min walk at most) i dont know where the valet part is sorry

Hi My parents are coming over next week and im thinking of getting one of those pool passes at a hotel for them, me and my 2 yo dd. Somewhere child friendly (baby pool) and also beach for my mum and dad to have a walk along. We usually try and take them away for a weekend but struggling to fit it in this time so i thought this might be a nice alternative. tia Jumeriah Beach hotel is nice although with EID rapidly approaching i imagine it may be busy. Jebel Ali Beach resort and Spa is nice too and quiet ( beautiful beach)

I use the O by Cloud Nine they are not cheap but the best ones i have used as i have fine hair and curls drop easily. Either use those or a curling iron. Easy to use once you get used to it

I've seen those in Spinneys in Motor City, waitrose own brand. Pricey though Be careful if you go to Motor City, apparently its like a south london council estate so you might get mugged :-) I suggestling wearing a shell suit, styling your hair in a 'Croydon Face-Lift' and carrying a flick-knife and can of pepper spray for protection ahahahahahahahahaha looooool! And Reebok classics for a quick gettaway. Vicky Pollard style!

Oh cool, that sounds reassuring! I'm estimating to fly between 4-5 weeks. Fingers crossed! The thought of being away from my husband that long sucks! Not just for me but for baby too. I have been told by my colleague (Mum of 2) that the docs will say after 6 week checkup but they do and can fly earlier

I love Autumn...I love all the winter clothes in the shops, I love Halloween, then love[b'> bomb fire[/b'> night and then the run up to Christmas, and those cosy evenings, shepherds pie, or a nice casserole Went to Ace and saw all the crimbo decorations, seeing snowmen here doens't quite feel right. Love it :D bommie night !!! lol bommie night i am now feeling homesick :-(

Cash Converters on SZR will take it. Call them up. They won't give you a great price for it but better than nothing. Curious to know why you would allow take my junk to come round (3 Pakistani guys) but not people from Dubizzle. Can you not have your husband / a friend to be present when you sell it? The Bur Dubai murder was a one in a million case, I really wouldn't worry. Ask for the security guard to be present whilst you meet them or a friend My security wont let anyone in to see me haha they are so cautious even to friends!

Hi ladies, Has anyone flown with their new born? I mean around the 4 weeks age? I'm going to deliver in Dublin with family and I am going to need to travel back to dubai shortly after with my parents so I can be with my husband. Has anyone done this? X I have seen lots of babies on Emirates flights. You can use your pram up to the door and have a bassient seat. Dont babies have to be 6 weeks old to fly? I may be wrong and other posters will advise you

Hi Ladies, I'm looking for a shady place to walk in the middle of the day. My DD is 10 weeks old and only sleeps in the buggy during the day. As the weather is a bit cooler now, I'd love to walk outside under trees but where can I find a good shady place? Is the running track of Safa park under trees? Are buggies allowed there? 4.50pm. I'm sitting in a high rise overloooking SZR down near Dusit Hotel and below me the cars are almost at a standstill for as far as I can see in the direction heading towards Trade Centre round about. Sirens and police and ambulances all screaming that direction. Anyone know whats going on? I'd advise anyone heading this way to take another route for a while. Another crash no doubt and the rubber neckers will be out in force as they were this morning and causing tailbacks grrrr

They are more experienced with Scandinavian type (very fine, blond, usually cut short) hair. Sounds like Dutch hair lol. I'd try the Dutch lady in Ink. No you need a passport with a UAE residence visa in it The little booths in the malls can cut your sim down to fit the phone. Failing that you can get a visitors one from DU No you don't . You only need ID to get a pay as you go sim card. They wouldnt let me use mine they wanted the passport and that was last week? I do have an ID card aswell You do not need a residency visa to get a sim card - you only need the ID part of the passport. Thank you for this :-)

Thanks for the response and I can really appreciate what a difficult job it must be. What I cannot understand is how this benefits the customer!! Surely, when the customers are fed up with not getting a proper response or with poor customer service they will move on to another company that provides a better contact service. It just doesn't make sense to me, but more and more companies seem to be doing business this way. Is there someone that can explain the logic in this?? They pay poor salaries here and i doubt provide training I worked for a high street bank in CS ( UK based) many years ago and we had 6 months office training before they let us loose on the general public Perhaps i have high standards where CS in concerned because my training was so tough.

Does anyone know of any Scandinavian (or at least European) hair stylists working here in dubai? My hair cannot take more of Lebanese... Thanks for any recommendations. Have you tried Jordanian? Perhaps American? Brazilian? What is it that Scandinavian's do differently? And are Danish the same as Swedish? Salon Ink have Irish, Australian and Dutch i have been in the ME for many years and would not trust anyone but them to cut/colour my blond hair They are opposite Jumeriah Beach Park at Jumeriah 1

Check Anne Klein and Nine West - both had boots in a range of 600-900dhs. Also United Color of Benetton I thought she said affordable 600 to 900 isn't :-) :) true, but where can you get good leather boots (assuming that what she is after) for less than 600-900Dhs? In the UK haha

Hi all! We've been living in the never ending construction that is JLT for over two years now and we are going to be having our first baby soon so we are looking at relocating. We've looked at silicon oasis, sports city and remraam for nice 2 bedroom apartments but its proving difficult to get something nice within an area that's not miles away or just another construction site! I personally loved the look of remraam even though its only accessible via sand tracks right now and only a tiny portion is open. But I've been warned off it by a real estate friend saying its bound to turn into another international city ( no offence to anyone living there!) our budget isn't huge as we just don't believe is paying a fortune for something that will never be ours. Any advice or recommendations would be wonderful!! Xxx Tecom perhaps the Greens is going up again :-(

OK this is hugely exciting! How can we learn for sure what the dates will be in the UAE? I suspect private sector workers will now get Weds, Thurs off work? Also - I have a brunch booked on the Fri - does anyone know if this will be dry? I can't drink but my guests from the UK will want to so if anyone has news, let me know!
