When the card has expired (which mine has), what happens when you return to the UK? Does that mean you have to take a new test? I also understand that there is a huge (1000 pounds I think) fine for failing to renew the photocard...how does one get around this if you are unable to renew the card if you don't live there. I'm pretty confused about this!!! I would ring the DVLA and ask they are pretty good for advice unlike the customer service in Dubai

My source was twitter - sorry if it was wrong, but that was been circulated by news reporters! You may never actually will know, but as others have said, the accident was horrific and it did not suprise me to learn someone might have been killed. But let us do hope that no one was killed. Maybe they were securily buckled in with seatbelts!! But will they learn from this lesson, probably not. This morning another HUGE accident on Garhoud Bridge, it never ends. I get to work everyday in a bad mood due to the sheer arrogance of drivers. I wish i was a police officer as i would pull them all and impound their cars permanently.

I'm sorry to ask and please dont have a b**** fest at me. I have gone through all other channels before asking on here. I need to order some colic drops and probiotic drops for my ds and of course as its liquid it will be impossible to have it shipped here. Best case scenario would be if I could order the two small bottles online and have them delivered to someone in UK right now? Why would it be impossibl?e i have had liquids posted to me here and brought a ton of wine back in my suitcase from my recent holidays ;-)

They are very helpful at the RTA near gold n diamond park and there is a place for eye testing there if they say yes. Probably best to go there and ask directly, as we did, although didnt get the outcome our boys wanted. Maybe for the best given the other thread about SZR today! Couldnt agree more!

Driving age here is 18. Needs to be a full licence. Our sons are over 18 but in nsw australia first 3 years after passing test you are on a provisional lic and they will not transfer it here till it is a full 'black' lic. Thanks i know in the UK and N.I you are on an R plate after passing however have been out of the UK for so long that i don't know what the procedures are now

But it usually states very clearly that the contract is for a period of x years / months etc...... Not everyone reads them all the way through a bit like the small print on bank and finance stuff edited by louisedvs on 10/09/2012 Really???? Not everyone reads an employment contract ...... why on earth would you not read that? I have dealt with them for 7 years and the amount of people who do not read them is astonishing! I think people presume they are all on unlimited ones and can leave freely. I worked in the banking sector too and the same applied! Well buyer beware :) Couldn't agree more i never sign before reading and asking sooo many questions :-)

were irish and hes 19 Irish nationals shouldn't have to take a test he can just take his Irish licence and eye test into the Police station, Now the age to drive here i don't know. I think it is 21 but do not quote me as it may be 18. I am sure the other ladies on here can advise, infact i have been told it is 18. Go to the registration place between MOE and Gold and Diamond Park with his Irish licence and he can change it to a Dubai one.

You can tell everyone is back from holidays. This mornings rush hour was horrendous cars weaving and driving bumper to bumper. I do wish the idiotic drivers would take more care on the roads as they put every other driver at risk. Very selfish people! edited by louisedvs on 10/09/2012 Those who drive weaving and out or at high speed think they are "better" drivers and that they will never be in an accident because they have been driving like that for x years and have not been in an accident Until karma hits them! Not one police car on my drive in this morning just several alpha males thinking they were on a Nascar track! edited by louisedvs on 10/09/2012 Sadly it's not just the alpha males. Females can be aggressive drivers as well. A police presence in the morning on the routes near the major schools might help? So sad to hear SZR accident has a fatality. Drivers are too fast and way too close. That gap you leave in front always get filled until it feels like you're going backwards. It has been this way for years and will never change. The bad drivers just don't care. It's all me me me from bad drivers to queue jumpers, lane swervers and the mobile phone users. I would of thought the police would be out in force they could make a fortune from on the spot fines!

What would you do? Cut it again? Let it grow? Or get extensions?:) Its at that stage where it just looks bad:( I have been short, really short and now long! I do not like the mid length as i look awful. I had extensions put in and bought clip in ones aswell for when the extensions came out... My hair grew very quickly and is now long :-) Ohh so you know what I mean;) I am favouring extensios. Hate the cost though:( I bought mine online ( clip ins) and they were much cheaper than having them done in DXB :-)

Hi, We are looking to stay in Qatar for a good number of years, however my husbands job is due to finish next year, he has already been offered work with a number of other companies, so finding work is not an issue. However we are looking to buy a new car and will need to use finance. I've heard so many horror stories about taking out finance, it has really worried me! If we were to take finance and change jobs half through the finance, is this acceptable? NOC letter will not be a problem, and salary will remain the same, if not higher, just worried that if we tried to leave the country they would stop us! Any advice is much appreciated! Thank you I can only quote the UAE and believe that Qatar is not too disimilar? Will you take finance out with the bank that your salaries go into? If not then as long as you pay the finance each month it doesn't matter. If you do finance it through your own bank and change jobs then that may be a problem. I would ask the bank. The rules in Dubai are now that they cannot freeze your bank account now if you change jobs unless you miss 3 payments

contact the bank and make sure that they will stop the cheque from clearing in case it's deposited I need to cheque with DH but I think we called the bank but they said they cant do anything without a police report so I guess thats our first step. My understanding is that you cannot stop a cheque without a police report

Just found this old thread I'd forgotten about. When I spoke to California chiropractic clinic that day, they told me to rest my back and make an appointment during regular working hours, so despite being in great pain, I didn't get a housecall. Not impressed. I trapped a nerve and had to call a DR out as i was stuck in the foetal position on the bed. A Male DR came with a Female nurse and gave me an IV and an injection in my back. Unfortunately the pain did not subside and i had to go to the hospital. I doubt a Osteopath would do house calls anywhere. It would either be A&E or call a DR

Hello all, I am considering lip enhancement. However I am very nervous. Would really appreciate any recommendations of Dr's.. their individual skills and experience. Also any Dr's I shouldn't go to?!! I have heard Dr. Rania good for Botox, but lip filler's? Many thanks, Dr Imran Tahir is supposed to be good Be very careful though as most of my friends ended up with lumpy, duck looking lips

LOL at Di@dxb and EstKe! I know, I know...what horrible lives we all have here, but still. My husband and I get to play "what was your most 'Dubai-ish' moment of the week" :) These things are good for a laugh as long as no one gets hurt, nothing catches on fire, etc. Eventually we get things done. Oh, and I am size 41 shoe, too--this isn't like squeezing your bum into a pair of skinny jeans one size smaller and doing lunges until they fit! (not that I do that...) I ask for a saw to go with the shoes and when they say pardon Maaaam i say i need a saw to chop of my toes as i am a 40 not a 38!

I thought after 2 years they could raise the rent if it is lower than what that area should be. The calculator could be out of date 5% i believe is the cap ( It was for my area) They do have to give you written notice though and RERA can help on this and maintenance is not always covered by the LL that is dependant upon what is written in your contract and can change once a new one is raised
