Hi All, I am currently looking seriously at getting some veneers on my top teeth. I have heard mixed reviews - some people that love them and some say that after a few years they age and don't look good at all? Has anyone had them done in Dubai and can advise me?! The alternative option would be invisalign, but I'm not keen on waiting and the brackets they attach to your teeth are apparently really visible! 4 of my friends have had them done and tbh i think they look terrible. They look so unatural and fake and they all look a bit buck teethed . I suppose it all depends on who does them and what sort they use. I also heard that your own teeth rot behind them and you have to have them redone every few years. I dont know of any other procedures here that can give you good teeth and the above is purely my own opinion :-) Thanks in advance :)

I'm going to the Jazz Festival this Friday - we have bought standing room tickets. Can anyone who has been please tell me what we will be able to access in terms of catering in that area and whether there is any chance of being able to sit down between the acts - eg. a grassy area, picnic tables etc. I'm really struggling to understand the layout from what I've read so far so some insider information would help! Thanks. I heard the food is great but cannot tell you what the area is like :-)

Ladies... I am pregnant and want to be as organised as possible for when the baby arrives. Can anyone tell me how long it takes and the process for obtaining the babys passport? The baby will be havng a UK passport, we are looking at travelling with the baby 4 weeks after its birth. Also, will it need to have a visa for re entry? I belive this can take some time to obtain. My friend told me they have to have their 6 week check before they are allowed to fly ( Please do not quote me on this) If he/she has a UK passport i didnt think that they have a visa? Thanks Any advise welcome - Thanks

Can anyone recommend somewhere you can hire a function room where you can have a party, licensed preferably but not an hotel where we would be paying a lot for the room etc. TIA My friend had her 30th at the Radisson Blu function room at DMC. If my memory serves me correctly it didnt cost a huge amount to hire

thanks, sounds interesting. might go and do a demo and see what i think They used number 4 and number 7 on my skin but i cannot remember which foundation it was ( if that makes sense) It was in a squeezy tube and not too thick. I am prone to redness and this kept my skin flawless for the entire evening and i danced alot! At home they make you over for the equivalent of 120AED and then you get freebies from them. I wish they did that here as it is a fab thing to do before you go out for the evening

If you were on your Husbands visa and had a labor card provided by the company you will have no issues moving to a new role. NOC's no longer exisit and if they did you do not get a ban as you were on Hubbies visa References from whomever managed you are good to have as most companies ask for them now

I've just read Oranges and Sunshine by Margaret Humphrey about the enforced migration of children sent from the UK to Canada, Australia, NZ and the former Rhodesia right up until 1970 under the pretext of giving them a better life, but in actual fact condemning them to a life of hardship and abuse, brought up in institutions. Not a cheery read - you keep on wanting to believe it isn't a true story, when of course it is. However it is utterly engrossing. I loved that book and the movie is excellent too :-) Before that I read The Kashmir Shawl by Rosie Thomas.

We called one from JLT last week and of course it never turned up. When we rang the operator he said we are still trying to send one to you!! The irony of that was that we could see hundreds of them all with their lights on sailing past other buildings. When we informed him of this he just laughed???

I'm on a contract so don't know if they can run up my bill? I just told them I wasn't born yesterday and hung up. Is it really worth reporting to the police or Al Ameen? If a number came up i would. Dont they have to submit a passport copy to get a sim card here? :-)

Just have to agree with emness and the others.... It is just too much that she is complaining that SHE cant take emirates home??? join the club. Even the corporate club. Very few get to pick the ticket home nowadays. Also, can I remind you of something, In the USA employers are only legally required to give one week off per year. Esp for entry level jobs like housekeeping. I love some of these comments that are illuding to-' everybody deserves a month off' really? i wish the USA had these rules..... Your comparison with the USA is a moot point. Newsflash, this is the UAE. edited by Monkey Face on 20/02/2012 Well US companies here in the UAE, DO NOT give a month off. Unless its company policy..... Nobody is required a month off here, if anybody deserves it, its the poor laborers who work outside all day. Labor law is 22 days off per year? I am confused as i have several clients who work for US companies and they all get 22 days as per MOL?

Will it not also depend if your current company ( That is if you work) inform the bank that you are leaving your job. If so, your bank account will be frozen if you have any outstanding debt.

Thank you ladies.. This has been our project for nearly two years. Unfortunately, any jobs we do apply will not give us a visa... they want us to be already residents of Dubai. I feel like we are not making any progress and simply running around in circles. We have been several times to Dubai for long holidays and then when we have to board the plane to come back it very upsetting for both of us. Do any of you lovely ladies know of any recruiters for Human Resources (me) and Industrial engineering for my husband. It is extremely hard to get HR roles if you do not have UAE experience, The labor laws here are very different to Europe therefore most of the jobs will require someone with local knowledge. Also regarding Accommodation.... where do you look? where can we find something good for a family of 4. Seriously we are very scared to live are very comfortable homes in Paris for nothing in Dubai, but it is are dream and if at least one of us is working in the beginning it should be alright.... no Again, we as a family could really do with some support please. Hanan

I'm totally having second thoughts now :/ My appointment is today, and I leave the 27th to go to the states for a week. If it begins to fade, there won't be much I can do about it before I leave--my schedule is slammed. Maybe I'll do plan B and explore red when I'm here for a bit more time. I think red is so hot :) it is a gorgeous colour, mine used to fade pretty quickly after having it done however not all hair is the same :-)

Does anyone know any companies that do homemade things? Like the sorts of things you'd get at a Sunday market? Cupcakes, fudges, coconut ice, jam drop style biscuits etc.? Or are there any weekend markets where one can get these things? I've looked at Lime Tree, but I could make them so don't really want to pay that much, just looking for market sort of prices, too. to ask a daft question, why not just make them? Coconut ice!! YUM!!!!!

I use a supermarket dye it's volcano red and just redo my roots very 4-6weeks. Always looks bright I also use John Frieda shampoo and conditioner for red hair it seems to keep the colour vibrant. I've never used the shampoos or conditions specific to red hair - how are they supposed to help, are they tinted red? I've been interested to give it a try, but I have platinum streaks in my hair and don't want them going pink or orange if there is any tint or color to the shampoo. I dont use ones specific to my hair colour either. Personally apart from the purple shampoo to stop my blond hair going brassy none of them acutally work or keep my colour longer than my normal salon visits at 4 weeks ( They arent tinted either) :-) They are marketed to supposedly keep your hair colour shinier for longer. Be careful if you are thinking of using home dyes. I too am very light blond and have had some home disasters with shop bought colours. :(

Planning to start one, need to know if anyone would be interested in something like this. Basically you sell n buy used books online. You can sell it at a price you want think it deserves. And the buyer once done reading the book, can resale it at any price they want to. Also if you have any tips that you can give me, please feel free :)) TIA In used to use one of these in the UK. Cannot remember the name of it though Green something Good Luck!
