I got scraped paint fixed on a rental car at a workshop in Sharjah a long time ago. You need to just go there and try your luck! Edited to write: fixed for very little money! <em>edited by Loukoum on 02/09/2012</em>

Another recommendation for Dr Amer. I also saw Dr Celen at Belhoul Hospital but she did not work for me. She may work for other patients though so I am not entirely dismissing her, especially if you want a female psychiatrist. <em>edited by Loukoum on 02/09/2012</em>

A few summers ago, in my old apartment, I left the thermostat too high and the A/C never kicked in. I came back to mold everywhere, and actually moved out the following summer because I felt the mold never really left that place. It took me a week of blowing A/C non-stop or at least fan to get it drier. Total nightmare. Had to wash carpets, sofa etc... Never again! :\: <em>edited by Loukoum on 25/06/2012</em>

Many thanks to those who responded and very happy to know that HSBC is good at dealing with credit card fraud. I indeed got in touch with them right after I received the SMS that this fraudulent transaction had gone through and they cancelled the card on the spot. It spooked me out but my friends in the US have had it happen to their cards three times the year before last.

Got a SMS earlier tonight that my credit card was used for a (fraudulent) transaction of GBP 600 in the UK, while I am here in Dubai. I immediately called my bank H**C and cancelled my credit card, as well as filled & sent a form to contest the transaction. Does anyone know whether I will have to pay this amount I am contesting or generally what happens after I cancelled the card and filled the forms? TIA

Ralph Lauren ships to my S&S address but I need to use my American credit card (not my Dubai one) to order. I have done that many times. Same issue with Macy's. I can use my Dubai credit card with Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.

My SO has had Viva Style Lounge copy shirts for him, after purchasing some of their fabric and it's always been fine. He's been happy with their work and fabric on a regular basis. I have had them make a tunic for me from scratch and good too.

I have since then had worse problems when I had to take time out (3 weeks) because I had a really bad chest infection and was in hospital, when I returned I went to talk to him about catching up with missed quizzes to which his response was "that is your problem" and when I said I have been off sick and have a doctors note etc, he said "what do you want me to do about it?, what do you want me to say to you (to get you to leave)." University policy states that if you have a valid reason you can re-do tests. Are you caught up with the work you need to do in order to take the tests you missed? This is the priority right now. I understand you are angry at this professor and you have reasons to but you cannot let this anger consume you. I am not sure whether you have to study on your own or borrow other students' notes; once you are ready ask him for make-up exams by email (less personal and safer since he has a bad temper). Make sure you peg him down to specific dates. Once you caught up on the work and the semester is over, then you need to speak with someone above the Dean and deal with this matter. Right now you have more urgent matters to take care of -- finish your course.

Honestly, you should see how people (often from colder climates) dress in the south of France in summer! This is all in the name of tourists enjoying hot weather -- and like what's happening in Dubai, in cities not at the beach of course.

Who did you complain to and why didn't it get resolved? Is it an isolated case (ie. you) or is there a group of disgruntled students? You say the university is useless but did you go to upper administration?

I am very surprised by what you just wrote -- simpleasabc. Last year I bought an ipad in the US for a friend because it was much cheaper there than in the UAE. I have not checked recently so maybe simpleasabc is right but buying in the US used to be considerably cheaper....

They got quite strict recently at the Chinese Embassy. You need tickets + hotel booking + no objection letter from your employer + company registration if it's a private company. I go there a couple of times a year as I love that destination. Visa is much more expensive if you have a US passport :\: <em>edited by Loukoum on 28/04/2012</em>

For my SO, who had a loose front tooth, that's how it went: infection, removal, implant with crown. Your friend should not delay and go to the dentist's immediately. Drs Nicolas and Asp have emergency appointments most days.

6 months after major heart surgery I would expect the husband to be in the pink and look pretty good. Did you ask your cleaner how her husbands heart surgery went? if you didnt, you still dont know if he had surgery or not. Whenever I asked her about her husband's health or surgery, she just giggled and changed topic! No, it was more like at the time he was supposed to have his "surgery" :) since the pics were taken when she was home He looks like a sturdy chunky 30 year-old Sri Lankan man.

I use an agency maid once a week and last year she had been speaking for a long time about how she wanted to take 2 months off. I thought it was a long vacation but, since it was between her and the agency, did not pay more attention to it. One day, the agency calls and says my usual cleaner had to go home to Sri Lanka for her husband's emergency heart surgery and they had to send someone else. My (usual) cleaner then calls in hysterics saying how sick her husband was and how the agency would not pay for her ticket. Six months down, by chance the agency sends someone on a different day and it was "my" old cleaner. We were happy to see each other and she showed me pics of her husband who seemed to be in a very good health. No mention of his emergency heart operation. She had had a good stay home and was in high spirits. My conclusion: she wanted to go home and hoped that her trick would get the agency pay for her ticket. They did not play along. It's your choice how you want to handle this.

You cannot buy Forcapil here; I get my supply in France. This is too bad because Forcapil and Brewer's Yeast really helped so much with my hair; I'll never stress this enough. I also know other people in France, who found it most useful. If you have S&S, you can order them in the UK and they will messenger them to Dubai. Get a 3-month supply, as advised on the notice. You need to take 2 per day. http://www.chemist-4-u.com/Forcapil-60-Capsules.html If you google "Forcapil", you'll be able to find many other online vendors.

I had the same experience a couple of years ago when I made a booking at Simply Skin. Called 10 days in advance and got (I thought) a booking for one Thursday. Went there on that day and actually the receptionist had booked me for the following Thursday. Fortunately, one of the therapists was free and took me in. I had a Guinot facial and the therapist was excellent. My only gripe with the place: spa prices when it is a normal place.

My housemaid is going to Manila on holiday. I have bought the ticket on Qatar with a credit card. Do I have to escort her to check in now to verify the purchase? Or go to an airline office before she travels? Qatar Airways is the only airline that ever asked me to produce my Credit Card at check-in. They are quite obsessed with that.

What would really also bother me is the fact he is not going to this concert with you AND not letting you take a male friend. I think this does not bode well in terms of his willingness to compromise. :\: You may need to shake him a bit; this kind of behavior cannot be allowed (in MY book)
