Actually, a couple of years ago, after 5+ years in Dubai, I was going bald. I have always had a big mop of hair and I am 50+. I tried shampoos & scalp treatments for hair loss; I did not try filters because too complicated with my shower. Anyway, all that to say, I got Brewer's Yeast and these French supplements called Forcapil and I now have my big mop of hair back! Total relief! :) :) I don't care to know why I lost my hair but I have it now back.

Ty to all of you for your feedback! :) The update and hopefully the resolution of the issue. I went to Aramex on Airport Rd & found Alaa. I sat down and said that I was not leaving until this issue had been solved. He saw that I meant business. Fortunately the Filipino secretary he is working with was super-efficient and found an old email regarding that package. It was in fact a pen with a camera ordered by someone in Saudi, that had landed in my box. Halaa immediately sent emails to all parties (incl. my Customs man) to stress they would collect the fine from the right person and I should not be bothered further! I'll follow up and call the Cutoms man tomorrow!

This has happened twice with my mailbox too, however customs were never involved. I would get a message that a parcel weighing X amount is in my US mailbox. I would call S&S and they would tell me it has been placed in the wrong mailbox by error and they corrected it immediately. It seems they made the mistake again with you but unfortunately customs are on your case now too. S&S should really fix this issue for you as it is their mistake not yours. The previous month, that is what happened but this was a "special package" I guess, and I have no clue which illegal equipment they are accusing me of importing.

I have no idea who sent the package to whom. It says the supplier is Genexus and the shipper is the receiver! I have never seen the package and have no other information. An alternative is to pay the AED 110 fine and go press charges to the Police for abusive use of my mailbox

Where did the goods come from ? I would say it's down to the sender rather than Aramex. What puzzles me is that I have a very unusual name (not Smith or Jones) so I cannot understand how goods ended up in my mailbox and nothing was sorted out as to whether they were mine. S&S seem to be sitting on their a**es and just sending me emails of "don't worry" since I got in touch with them this morning. What they are actually doing I have no clue.

Go down to the Aramex office now, demand to speak to the Supervisor/Manager and refuse to leave until its sorted. Get the Customs guy on the phone at the same time and get Aramex to deal with him. Be careful, you never know it could be a scam as well. I am going to go to their office because this whole mess is really scary. Alaa from Aramex has dealt with the Customs guy so I don't think it is a scam. When I go under my S&S account, it still features this package and says "disposed of" ??

Back in October there was a "camera" in my S&S account, and I knew that I had not ordered anything. I called them to say so, and there had already been one package in my mailbox the month before that was not mine. They said they would take care of it and I did not hear about it until a week ago. A gentleman from Customs called me on my cell to demand the payment of a fine for import of something illegal. I only buy clothes and could not figure out what it could possibly be -- until I realized it was that package I never ordered and never received. Obviously, it still had my name attached to it, and S&S had not done a thing about notifying Customs it was not mine. Today the same gentleman from Customs called and said the case would be sent over to Police and Immigration unless the fine was paid within 48 hours. Alaa from S&S sends messages that he will get in touch with Customs but how can I believe them? It's really scary & I wonder whether I should pay the fine, then go to the police and press charges against Aramex for dealing with goods using my name.

I have always been to China without a tour: Beijing (a couple of times), Shanghai, Xian, Yunnan. I get hotels from Tripadvisor, make sure I have hotels names in Chinese for taxi drivers and can manage quite easily.

I know what you mean! Anything car related (petrol, road taxes etc) Beauty treatments (had more in a year in Dubai that I;ve had in a lifetime I think) Some eating out (amazing meal for five in Karachi Darbar last night for 130 AEd) Fresh Herbs errrr and taxes! Are a few that sping to mind!! I know we don't pay tax on our wages however i find that the cost of everything else apart from the above is so inflated by other countries standards that it is like paying some form of tax. ( I am not moaning though as i love it here) ;-)

Paid a lot of money for an extraction and implant from Dr Nicholas and Asp 3 years ago but they are very professional and am happy with the result. It's not cheap but then I can't afford having something else go wrong with my teeth!

I did it once a while ago and hopefully things have changed since then... The S&S billing was in US dollars, so I ended up paying AED 5 more than I would if I had just paid the delivery man. :\: Did not get a discount for using Visa either! <em>edited by Loukoum on 25/11/2011</em>

I avoid pink taxis too because I need someone to help with my suitcase (hence a good tip). That one time I used them, the lady driver opened the trunk where my suitcase was, and did not do a thing. I had to tell her "Please help me with the suitcase! I can't do it on my own" -- and that was the truth! Plus she had problems understanding real simple directions. Never again!

Cambodia is really a country living in PTSD, particularly compared to neighboring countries such as Vietnam or even Laos, both of which are really thriving. That being said, I like PP because of its old world charm. I really enjoyed the National Museum; Tuol Sleng + Killing Fields were a shock. Good shopping at the Russian Market but of course do bargain! I ate at a lovely vegetarian restaurant called K'nyay: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g293940-d1570749-Reviews-K_NYAY-Phnom_Penh.html I agree that 5 days is a bit much, so think of either Siem Reap or Vientiane (Laos).

Thank you for your feedback! I used to have an American dentist I liked at Drs Nicolas & Asp and, when she left, I asked her to recommend another dentist there. She recommended Dr Asp. I saw him once last year for a check-up and did not take to him AT ALL... Nothing to do with his professionalism but as a person it just did not work. It never happened to me before, and I have been to the dentist's since the age of 5! So, I am looking for another dentist...
