Have you found her yet ? It might be worth going to JVT . We have only just moved in and have had alot of cats visit us so far... one being a small brownish tabby last night - who came right up to the window.

Actually, not sure if they were the same boys playing with the pointer - but those got shouted and hissed at by me as well. Argh. Middle-east. Errr....actually this exact kind of behaviour also happens in "western" countries. England to be exact....the only difference is management will do something about it, & ,if they can't,we do get our money back. Strange ? Of all my life there I never experienced it in England. However the last 4 years in Dubai I would say at every cinema visit someones phone rings, kids and adults talking through, babies at 1am crying through films etc. - In my experience of course. I hope the next trip to the cinema to see Twilight will be drama free !

I did post this in the gardening section but no response - hopefully I can get some tips here ... Need to screen off some off some walls with the bars that is open to the street so am looking for the wooden type screens heather type. Has anyone seen these anywhere? - Have been to the plant souk but they only have the bamboo ones seem rather expensive. Thanks !

Have you actually seen a copy of the POA between the agency and the LL? Who did you hand the cheques to? Agency or LL? If it is what i fear, it's the agency that has scr*wed you in which case your DH should be asking for copies of that POA or filing a case with thew police against the said agency Yes we have seen the POA copy and have the passport copies etc. the LL actually bought the property from the agency . We handed the cheques to the agency and they say they still have the cheques in the safe and that the POA has not been in to collect them. We have given the agency fee in cash and have all the reciepts. I dont feel its the agency thats at fault, I believe the LL is just an ass.

Thanks ladies, yes we used an agent and DH is on his way there now. DH signed the monthly cheques and deposit and paid the agency fee. Then signed the contract - the power of attorney for the LL I believe also signed it. DH actually called the LL directly and said he was going to lodge a complaint at the police station , the LL said "go on then"" and put the phone down?! - What a lovely creature ey? If the agent has something else that we can move in tomorrow we will just take it and thank-god we dont have to deal with that LL again. Will see what DH ends up doing in an hour once there...

If buying go down to the gold souk... was told try not to pay more than 3% comission to the dealer. Buying from those vending machines with the coins/biscuits I would expect comes at a high comission as does coins with special imprints on them etc.

Ok I just spoke to the friend - no "new" law is especially there (chinese whispers) just that they got married at the 5 month mark and were advised by Doctors, embassy and a lawyer that there is a high chance the courts will make it difficult in issuing the birth certificate etc. with DNA testing and certain fees .... they dont wish to take that chance or have to pay out these fees etc.

Hi Ladies thanks very much for the replies - For anyones future reference - I called RERA and they said to me it is the LL responsibility and if we have any problems to call the municipalty dept. of which he gave me a number etc. The man I spoke to was ever so helpful , a good service - what a pleasant rarity !

Hi LIL, Before I got pregnant , was on the Dukan diet for 4 and half months and went from 63kg to 51.9kg its a great diet and the results are amazing ... I changed my eating habits completely from being a complete carb-a-holic... The best advice I can give is to always have everything prepared on what you will have for breakfast , lunch and dinner so as not to be tempted. Snack food - surimi sticks, crab sticks, turkey, chicken - stick some fat free philli on these and roll them up :) , fat free yogurt and oat bran (can find the oatbran in spinneys), sugar free jelly, coke zero - this saved me , boiled egg, turkey bacon, turkey/chicken sausage, meat balls, tuna and prawns in dukan mayonaise, fat free ice cream. Check the sodium content also on some foods as they can be very high and not suitable for the dukan. I did start drinking alcohol after week 4-5 and found it didnt make much difference with the weight loss. You will feel tired and may get headaches for the first week ... this does pass. Stick with it ! Start working out after the first week go for some walks then build up from there. Good Luck ! :D ....

yeh small window, was dark blue line, and the large window had a blue line, but faint edited by officechick on 03/09/2011 Hi office chick , this is what my positive looked like to begin with. You can open up the test and look on the back to see the line a bit more clearly - even hold it up to the light . I tested over a week later with a digital and the cross came up :) Also have pcos so there is hope yet . Good Luck to you, and keep us posted.

We have also been looking there and have asked about the 2-bed townhouses but the agents I have spoken to have said they have not been released yet only the 1bedrooms? If thats the case then yes would imagine they have to be seen posting it publicly as a matter of ethics, more than likely there is a spouse , internal or someones aunty , uncle , cousin etc. waiting to step in as is such the case especially in Dubai. Maybe give them a call if you can get through just to completely rule it out. Good Luck , something else will come up it always does :)

You would expect that with "some" Economy class ticket , but with a business class ticket? That is ridiculous even with Emirates economy you can change for free. Make sure you get your taxes back if you do refund as you are entitled to them without any extra charges. Have not flown with them for 5 years and never will again , appauling service and even worse is the customer care afterward if need to change or complain about anything... I have been living in JI for many years now. I really cant fault it. Yes there are some issues regarding landscape maintenance, but the overall advantages are huge. We are minutes away from SZR on one side and the Meadows/Springs village on the other. Its quiet, exclusive and yet so central. We are minutes away from Ibn Batuta, Marina Mall and JBR. We have a great club house with a gym, tennis courts and a bar license. There are lovely parks for kids and the walk around the lakes has to be experienced to be believed. To me its the most beautiful development in Dubai. JMHO Agreed !

The Director of University Nutrition in Washignton called it "Atkins reincarnated".[/quote Rubbish In my opinion, what is more healthy - buttered toast for break fast and a coffee with 2 sugars or fat free yogurt with some oat bran and a skimmed late .... or lunch - burger king with fries or a grilled chicken salad, dinner ... curry with rice or grilled steak with asparagus...? Which is healthy - obviously the latter choices which is the Dukan way and an idea of what I was eating before. I feel great on it, am far more healthy , have lost 24 pounds with my weigh in this morning and am the fittest in a long while :)

Ive been on the dukan diet since the 1st of Feb and have lost 10kg (last two weeks I have had slip ups but not put any weight on) , was previously 63kg !It has been the easiest diet of my life! This is coming from a serial carb eater ;) The books have been selling out in the stores over here but theres enough information online to start it. Good luck

From dubai faqs:- As of Saturday 01 January 2011, new rules in the UAE reduce the employment period for which an NOC is no longer required when changing sponsors from 3 years to 2 years. As far as we know, this does not apply to employees on fixed term contracts who leave before the end of their contract (which, unless a contract specifically allows this or the employer agrees to an early departure, means the employee has broken the terms of their contract and might still be subject to a 1 year labour ban instead of the automatic 6 month labour ban that usually applies when leaving a job in the UAE).

Had an awful time on Yasmin, period all over the place... severe headaches, moodiness, anxious, water retention etc. Would not reccomend it at all. Im not even on the pill anymore ...yasmin put me off hormonal contraceptives for life ! Now Im off it I feel at peace (that sounds strange) but I was so anxious and crazy on Yasmin .... poor OH thought I was possessed he he.
