Thank you for all the advice. We have AXA insurance and yes a brand new car 2013. My husband has taken over and is in contact with the insurance company. I'm still in shock really. I hope this feeling goes away.

My DD goes to Little Wonders in Al Manara and they are very reasonable. 7am - 1pm 5 days a week is 4530 per 8 week term. Ah thank you. This could be another option. I like that it opens at 7 as opposed to 8. I have another daughter that gets dropped off at 8 so it will make the mornings less chaotic. Will go check this one out.

I don't think it gets any affordable than the rates in Palms Nursery. For 5 days until 1230 it's aed 6500 a term. I might just put my son there in Sept.

That's disappointing. It had some positive reviews here. Any affordable nurseries in the Jumeirah area?

Salon ink is over-praised here, but they are really not special and are very expensive for what it is. They are doing an ok job, compared with the horror you get in general in average salons, but for this price, for god's sake, I rather keep trying. They are also very inflexible with appointments, and parking is difficult on weekends I agree with you 100%

My DH just bought me a mazda cx9 last week and I loooooove the car. The AC is very good. I can control the AC temp in the back. I have a 5,3,1 year old and so it has so much space for all their things.

Omg I think it's the same dog that was jumping all over me and my one year old. I'm scared of dogs btw. He was unleashed. My one year old was walking near me. I was watching my 3 year old and 5 year old who were riding their bikes. My one year old was pointing to the dog. I looked behind me and he was running towards her. I grabbed her before he reached her. I was just screaming the dog was jumping on me and my baby was shivering and crying. I saw a man in local dress tried to get him but the dog kept running away and he came back to me and my daughter. I hid behind my neighbors maid. The man apologized when he caught the dog and told me not to worry he doesn't bite. I was just shaking. I looked to see which house he came from, but I saw him walk towards 2 Asian men. I thought the dog was gonna get free again so I rushed home with my kids. We're also in Jum 3 close to Eat and Drink on Wasl Road. I'm so sorry about your dog. We haven't left the house after that. I'm afraid the dog might come back. If I'm driving around will keep a look out. edited by LuLee on 07/03/2013 edited by LuLee on 07/03/2013

I went recently to Dr. Nicholas College and they quoted me 8000-8500 dirhams. Still an absolute bargain. My kids both have great looking teeth now. Yes I agree. Now just waiting for 2nd appt for X-ray, etc. One did mention surgery afterwards because my jaw is slightly forward (not a big deal to me). Does anyone know if braces make it worse or better?

Lulee: Wasl Road is so long -- which end or near where. I think there may be a run on distilled water! Wasl Road and Safa Street. It's across the Emirates Bank. Is that helpful?

How do you make vitC serum? Is it for drinking or topical use? Yes it's topical. I have not made it before, but found the recipe online. It's L ascorbic acid powder or crystals, glycerin and distilled water. That's the basic one. You can even add Vitamin E oil, ferulic acid, etc. I'm going to stick to the basic one if I can find distilled water.

I buy the Ariel 9kg in the green bag. It does have both top and front machine pic on bag. I don't think I have ever seen Ariel coming in 9 kg, but if you say so, I believe it. Which supermarket sells that? I have the bag right in front of me. It says Ariel micro boosters 9 kg concentrated. It's a white and green bag. I bought it from the Union Coop on Wasl Road.

I've been there not for breakfast but for some coffee and carrot cake and wow it was delicious. It is as good as Limetree's cake maybe even better. They have a cheese counter looks pretty good and yummy breads. The prices are pretty steep especially their mains, but I would definitely go back. edited by LuLee on 14/02/2013

Encore, you've posted one of my greatest fears. We're American as well. Wondering if anyone can confirm for me when I should be attempting to get my nearly 3 year old on the list to enroll for kindergarten for the Fall of 2014. Would like to get him into one of the American schools in al Barsha or Collegiate American School presumably as we're living in TECOM. That would depend where you're looking. ASD follows the true American way of enforcing that a child is 5 before starting kindergarten. Collegiate American does Pre-K, which starts at a much younger age than kindergarten. You should contact each school individually. ASD cut off date for KG1 is 4 before Sept 1.

Dentro same here, but I only went for a cut and blowdry which nearly cost me 400 dirhams. I have long and thick hair. The cut wasn't even that great. I'm still looking for someone who is experienced in thick (and I mean THICK), coarse, dry hair and frizzy hair :(

I called evision and what I understood from the rep is we have to upgrade to Elife and then chose a HD package that they have. I was trying to avoid Elife since so many complain about it.

The first show starts at 630pm but open the tent at 6 to get seated. The late show starts at 930pm. This is one great show. We all enjoyed it. For those that can't find parking near the tent, you can park in the mall. They have golf carts and tuc tucs that drive you from the restaurants at festival city to the circus (both ways). I think it's 5 aed for the ride.

You know I remember looking for an evening dress in al Bustan Centre. I'm pretty sure that's the correct name. It's in the border of Sharjah and Dubai. I think in Al Qusais? Anyway it's just stores after stores full of gowns embroidered with crystals from top to bottom. There are some fabulous and extravagant dresses to nice classy dresses. They have everything. Mind you this was a couple of years ago but I'm sure it's still there. I'm sure you'll find your dress there.

Yes it is good. Don't get the 50 aed unless you want to sit on a bench for almost 2 hours. I think any place you sit, you'll have a good view. The tent is not big. They had dogs in a segment of their show.

My daughter 5 years old enjoyed the circus at the Festival City promenade? We all thought it was a great show. Show starts at 630 to 830 and another one from 930 to 1130. The tickets range from 50 to 100. You can easily see the center from every seat.

Do report back when the peeling is done. My skin isn't terribly bad just some pigmentation around my mouth and small brown spots here and there. I did a couple of sessions of microdermabrasion (without peel) but I didn't see much difference other than my skin feeling soft. Does the Dubai cosmetic surgery offer the glycolic peel?

Daiso is pretty good. I also go to the 1-5 dirham stores for pencils/colouring books/sharpners/hair clips etc. for a bag filler they are not too bad I also add a health snack... something like a cereal bar, or a juice ... something to munch/slurp on the drive home ;oP Do you mean stores like Kabayal?

That's what I had in mind. Would you say I should budget 30 dirhams per child. Where is the best to purchase these in terms of cost. I personally think 30 dirhams per child is way too much. I would say 10 dirhams or less! edited by AnonDubai on 15/01/2013 I would love to spend 10 dirhams per child. Just didn't expect to find in that range. Will check out the party centre. Thank you
