Agree with many comments below. I have a 4 year old, 2 year and almost 1 year old and have a part-time maid. I really wish I had a full time maid. I feel so stressed out and tired each and every day. And don't get to enjoy the time I have with them. Even when we are doing fun things, I'm just tired. I try to make the best of it though. What I want to say is don't feel guilty. Do the things you need to do so you are a happy mom around your kids.

also try the discount stores such as Al Kabayal in Deira... or then the stores in Karama (the shopping area)... they have costumes for as less as AED 40/- per outfit Thank you abby_n_christina. I went to the Kabayal store and found a superman costume for my 2.5 year old and for only 25aed. There was also a batman and spiderman but only had bigger sizes. They had a princess costume for 35aed but it won't fit my 4 year old. Mollydxb: I just need a black top, take my sewing kit out and get started. UpsyDaisy: I asked her and she does not want to be a witch. Do you have a princess costume lol?

Thank you Cherry Ripe was at C4 yesterday but they haven't put them up yet. Will check again later this week. UpsyDaisy, my daughter is 4.5 years old but she's very tall for her age. I usually get her size 6, sometimes 7 when shopping for her.

Thanks Wuffles. I think I've been to that store and yes very very expensive. It's way over my budget. Are you familiar with Naif Souk? Do you think I would find them there?

I have them. Do you like persian cuisine? I LOVE Persian cuisine. If you don't mind, I'll really appreciate it. Then maybe get some tips from Alismum on how to adapt the recipe using a pressure cooker.

What do you cook in pressure cookers? Surely just dishes with beef, yes? Cause chicken and fish are cooked in 10 min anyway! Would love to know. Irooni I cook Ghormeh Sabzi,, Ghemeh Bademjoon, Festenjoon and Abgoosht in my pressure cooker. In fact I use it for everything, it's like my best friend in the kitchen :) Off to google to look up what these dishes are. Do you have any recipes?

Tefal makes good quality, not too expensive pressure cookers. I bought a Clipso 8 qt model (since you fill them about 1/2 full) from Carrefour during their kitchen gadgets promotion. I really like it, it's a modern pressure cooker without the rocking weight on top, very easy to open and close. I've had mine for nearly 2 yrs now and use it twice weekly. What do you cook in yours? I bought mine a month ago and have used it 3 times to cook goat, lambchops. I just find that the taste is a little different to how I would normally cook it. I don't know how to explain the taste.

Thanks Apricot. Well Honda CRV is off my list (over our budget). Currently our budget is 90K. We're just looking for a nice cross-over car to accomodate a family of 5. We have KIA Sorento, Sportage, Hyundai Santa Fe (I'm not even sure if that is above our budget) on our list. Any others? How about the Mazda CX-5? I just need to do a little more research and narrow it down to two. Then I'll go to the showrooms in the next week or two. I'll definitely do a test drive.

Off the top of my head we were quoted: 117K for the CRV we looked at (5 seater) 114K Sorento - 3.6 engine fully loaded - the one we'd go for 96K Sorento lower specone 89K for the 2.4 engine - lower spec All the Sorentos we looked at were 7 seats Thank you so much for those quotes. Might need to stretch the budget just a little bit. Will go have a look this weekend.

We're still undecided! We've had a situation with our second used car which means that we're going to replace that one first ... a whole different story! However, when we swap the big car we are going to go for the Sorento - friends of ours have the 3.6 litre version and it's brilliant, we borrowed it for a weekend, knocks the CRV into a cocked hat. Thank you, do you know how much it's going for? I also had the CRV on my list, but I think it's over our budget. i think CRV 120k + Ok then definitely over our budget. Our max is 90K.

Great - thanks for all the responses! Will check those out. Just got back from showroom and saw Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe. Any experience/views on those? TIA! Did you decide on anything? I'm also considering to buy a cross over. Honda CRV is also on the list. It's so hard to chose!!

The deal on the Kias is fantastic, let's face it a new car is no investment, and they have come a long way and not the laughable choice they once were. Having been burnt by two second hand cars and their lifespan being very short ... we've decided to trade one of ours in and get a new car. We have a friend who has bought a Sportage and drives to AD daily, he loves it, doesn't have kids so the smaller car works for him. Another friend has the Sorento and again does the AD run, needs the 7 seats for when family come over. DH did the test drive in the CRV today and thought it was a bit wallowy, AC was ok but not brilliant. We are test driving the Sorento next week and will make a point of checking the AC, especially in the back, thanks for that. I really appreciate all your comments. The Sorento appears to be really good value for money and if we get 4-5 years out of it then it will be money well spent, we are tipped towards the Kia at the moment. What did you end up buying? How was the Sorento when you did the test drive? AC okay?

We're in the same situation EmilyG. We're a family of 5 and budget is about the same as yours. What about a Toyota Rav4, Honda CR-V? I'm not sure what the AC is like and if it fits 3 car seats. edited by LuLee on 15/09/2012

Thank you BuckeyeD. Aah ok sorry I meant Meadows. Now that I think of it, it probably depends on how close you are to SZR. I think the best place to live is in Al Barsha. I would hate going back and off for school activities from Jumeirah. I try to avoid the Barsha toll and go from the back so it takes us a little longer.

I used to use the Bioderma SPF100, but it made my face super greasy. Then I switched to Neutrogena Ultra-sheer dry touch SPF55. It's perfect! can u plz tell me from where u get this Neutrogena Ultra-sheer dry touch SPF55 here in dxb? i have been trying to find this one for about a month but no success I'm using the Neutrogena Ultra sheer spf 30. I really like it. It feels you have nothing on and makes my skin feel very soft. I found the other one a little heavy for me. Anyway I got mine from the Union Coop on Wasl Road last week. They had both.

BOO!! Didn't find the Maggi kabsa spices at Spinneys!!!! Didn't find it the kabsa mix either at the Union Coop. I did buy the shish tawook and shwarma spice mix and another one chicken garlic and ginger spice mix. I have to admit that the Maggi kabsa mix is one of those fly off the shelf products. I have struggled to find it at times myself, so usually when I do I stock up. Don't give up hope though, at least its locally produced so stocks get replenished sooner rather than later - it's a recipe worth waiting for. I'm not taking credit for this super recipe, it's all about the spices (but you will remember and thank me when you do find it :D )! Thanks for the tip, I will be sure to buy in BULK when I find it -- hopefully none of ya'll head to that particular store after me, whenever I manage to locate it! :-) I checked the Union on Wasl yesterday. It was not there.

I don't mind you asking at all, I'm just nervous why ur asking lol! Have I said something wrong? I'm Syrian, specifically from Aleppo. If Aleppo is known for anything then it's good food! I absolutely love cooking, I'm the one that gathers all of our friends over and cooks for them. Hehe, I just thought maybe Saudi?

Keep them coming ladies :) Today's menu is chicken soup, salad, samosas, dates, vimto. For the main dish, I'm going to try a Turkish dish called Patlican Oturtma, sort of like the Greek dish Mousaka without the bechamel. Basically it's eggplant layered with a tomato meat sauce.

OK, my suggestion is waaaay downmarket since DH likes to "keep it real": Automatic Lebanese Restaurant. Beach Rd, Jumeira and opp the Ramada Hotel in Bur Dubai. The place isn't fancy and your meal will be interrupted by lots of little kiddies but the food is amazingly authentic and consistently great. Did I mention, it's also very good value. On another thread, I also suggested Automatic Restaurant. My family and I go there every year. We also like Samad, Iraqi Restaurant in the Jumeirah Beach Plaza and Reem Al Bawadi. My DH will not spend over 100 dirhams per person for Iftar.

We go to the Automatic restaurant in Jumeirah Beach Road every year. I think it's 70 dirham per person. Much quieter than other places. Another place we like is Samad in the Jumeirah Beach Plaza. I think it's 80 dirhams and very busy like Reem Al Bawadi. Those are the places I like. DH refuses to go to any place that charges over 100 dirhams. We eat so little so it's a waste spending that much money.

We just got back from Malaysia last week with 3 children (ages 4 years, 2 years and 7 months old). There's really not much to do in Kuala Lumpur except for the shopping. We spent a couple of days in Langkawi and Penang which we enjoyed much more. Unless you're staying in a hotel with a kid's club, they'll be pretty bored in KL. I don't think we'll ever go back to Malaysia. I think we went in the wrong time. I didn't see one blue sky during our 12 day stay. I don't know, maybe I expected more from Malaysia, but it just wasn't one of my greatest holidays.

I don't shop much. I wear an abaya, but will be travelling to Malaysia and would like to dress in light clothes. So if you kind ladies know where I can find long, flowy, summery dresses that doesn't stick to the body, it will be much appreciated. TIA Saw loads of long flowy summer dresses at MAX in Dubai Mall. Yes I saw those too yesterday after I splurged on a dress from Marks and Spencers and Jeans West. I also saw some cute ones in Carrefour for under 60 dirhams. Oh well, I like the ones I bought anyway.

Found one that I liked in Marks and Spencers. Jeans West is no longer there in Festival City. The dresses on the facebook link are gorgeous. There are my style and I love the colors. I thought I splurged on a simple dress at Marks and Spencers, I could not fork out 500 on a dress unfortunately.
