Just in case anyone's interested (!?) I went along just before 9am and lo and behold! It was open. Now that really took me by surprise! I really expected it to open at 10am, but thought I might be lucky and it would be 9am, maybe a few minutes later because the shops in Villaggio are not very punctual, so was totally gobsmacked when it was already open BEFORE 9am. Oh Doha, you never fail to surprise me and make me smile (ruefully).......

Definitely Apollo on Salwa Road - we got our garden furniture there 5 years ago, and it's still going strong. Bit more expensive than Home Centre, Carrefour, etc but much better quality.

I was always able to get my kids through at the old arrivals terminal because the e-pass gates were right next to the GCC countries line and I could usually persuade a friendly official to let them through. But they're quite a bit away from the other queues now, so wasn't able to do it when I came back at the weekend. Had to wait 20 mins for my daughter to get through :(

carathop - I saw it on the shelves in Boots. Can't remember exactly where, but it's not a HUGE shop so you should be able to find it! Not sure if it was in the pharmacy end of things, or in with the other standard deos. And it was in the Villaggio store.

Also try Driclor available from Boots. It's super-strong and REALLY works. Much better than Mitchum.

Good luck Joyce! You will be missed in Doha. As you said, it hasn't been your favourite place in the world to live, but you've had a very balanced perspective on life here and have always offered sound and sage advice to everyone. I'm back in Scotland at the moment (been in Edinburgh, Aberdeen now and up to Elgin tomorrow) and it's absolutely beautiful. Bright, clear, crisp days, blue skies, not a breath of wind and just lovely. Cold, of course, but nothing that a hat, scarf & gloves can't solve! As the saying goes 'East, West, Hame's best'. Bon voyage!

How old are your kids PuppyLove2? Both my children have gone to DC for 5 years of their secondary education, and I have been very happy with the school. Of course it's not perfect (show me a school that is!) and certainly does not have the facilities of ASD but my children have flourished there and have received a great education.
