Thanks, pinks and luluwings. I'd also much rather wait if it weren't for the fact that it affects my ability to drive, especially at night. I'm going to ring up Moorfields right away - cheers! Your welcome, hope it goes well for you, please do update us regarding your experience at Moorfields ☺

Our maid of many years has left our employment. We had confirmed to her that we were happy to buy her a ticket home or do a visa transfer if she wanted to stay in the UAE and find employment . We were not comfortable with her request for a visa run. She told us she found a new role and would like to transfer the visa, so we went ahead with the cancelation. Without us knowing she went on a visa run after all and is now back in the UAE on a visit visa. I was wondering what the potential risks are for us now as her previous employer, if any? For example if she were to end up in some kind of trouble? I am conscious that we are her last employer in the UAE and we did not provide her with a ticket home at the end of employment. Please let me know your thoughts. TIA. There is no risk to you at all as she has returned on a visit visa after you had cancelled her visa.

I must admit I always go back an have my eyes checked in the UK(and glasses bought so I can get my VAT back!), but if I were stuck here for bit, perhaps call Moorfields Eye Hospital? As they are actual offshoot of the proper one back in London, I'm assuming the quality of care would be as high? Worth a phone call. Same here, I would not have them checked here and would much rather wait until I travel if it can wait.

Hello, we were told that 5% VAT will applied on all goods, petrol and services. it will be waived off for Schools/nurseries, Unis. There is possibility it will be applied on DEWA as well. There will be much higher VAT on tobacco and alcohol. Unfortunately it will definitely affect our expenses. The 5% will be the most visable increase in costs of products and services, however there will also be addtional admin costs for companies to prepare and account for all the addtional taxation requirments, hence you could see prices increase an additional ?% to cover these additinal adim costs.

Hello Ladies, We have just been informed our move date will be pushed out which will impact my daughter's school start date. As per new details, she will miss the first 10 days of school (She will be joining FS1). Does anyone know if the school would have a problem with this? I have not reach out to the school yet but thought I would get some opinions first before panicking. Thank you for your help. Cant say for sure as it depends on how you have left things with the school, however it shoud not be an issue if you have made the payment of the fees as that would show you do intend to come but have been delayed a little ☺

Hi all, Looking for advice! I have 1cbm personal effects arriving Jebel Ali sea port by mid of Aug and I need to discharge cargo myself. Looked thru Dubai Custom website thoroughly and couldn't find information I needed. Can anyone advise the procedure of getting them cleared? TA You should be able to collect documents from the shipping company and head over to customs office for clearence from my understanding.

HI, so there is a built in walkin closet room in my apartment, same room that has my AC system, and I had a few leaking incidents from the AC which caused mould to grow all over the wooden shelves even the floor skirting which destroyed it all,,, so now I gutted out the whole room to clean the mould and sanitise it. but I will need to build in a new closet... I really don't want to do a full on built in wood walk in closet. I want something very simple like wire shelving and racks type of storage. I can't seem to find a company that does that. does anyone know where I can get this done? thank you. Sounds like you could find what you want in a famous sweedish store ☺☺

Hopefully, this shouldn't affect so much on our monthly expenses. It most definatley will impact costs of products from the date of implementation as people here will jump on the price increase bandwagon regardless. The current exchange rates are very good for products coming from the UK but we have not seen any price reduction on those products, trust me, when and if the rates go back to circa 6 to the pound, the rip off will begin again. :\:

Hi ladies. I'm not new but I had to create a new account to ask this. I want to sue a well known airline company and need advice. I don't have a lawyer and never had to contact one before. I want a no win no fee lawyer as I can't pay in advance. Can someone please recommend one? The incidence happened while on air to Canada. I'm currently there but will be back to the Uae in a couple of weeks. Not sure if it's better to contact someone here or in the UAE. I'm not Canadian and don't know my way around without help so I prefer to wait until I'm back. Please help. Thanks in advance. The concept of no win no fee is not heard of in the UAE as per my understanding

Hi guys. I just moved here from Australia following my husband. I finished my PhD in ecology at Uni of Queensland just prior to leaving Australia and have since been frantically trying to find a preferably university and/or research related job here in Dubai. Unfortunately to my knowledge only the American Uni of Sharjah has an established biology faculty- I couldn't for the life of me find any other good universities with similar faculty. Sadly none of the academics I emailed for expression of interest replied, and my job application was not entertained. I am so excited to start working in Dubai and join the wildlife conservation bandwagon but I don't think there is much work going on here on that matter? If you are, or know anyone who is an ecologist, pretty please introduce me. I am keen for a chat over a cuppa, as I kinda miss interacting with like-minded people. Thanks! Hi, your right theres not much going on in that sector here, maybe worth sending your CV to Dubai safari ☺ All the best

I found a large nest of Honeybees in my garden and am not too keen on keeping it there. But if I call pest control they will just come and kill them, which is the last thing I want. Does anyone know a beekeeper in Dubai, or someone who can come and move them? The OP does NOT want these lovley bees to be treated by pest control as it states in the post.

My mum hopes to come the Dubai for Christmas from the UK. She has been quoted GBP750 for 3 weeks insurance. She is 92 years old, does anyone have any recommendations for a good travel insurance provider either in the UK or UAE that offers good rates. Thanks for any help offered. Dont waste your time with UAE insurers as you need the cover from UK based insurers.

We send all our stuff via container, but what is the best option to send some items from Dubai to OZ that we need before. Not sure if we should use airfreight with moving company or check in extra when we fly out By air should be the best option in my opinion

Can someone suggest some good credit card for shopping purpose and I'm not employed How do you intend on paying the money back if your not employed? If your partner is going to pay back the crefit card company then he can also get you the card from his own account.

Hi ladies, I am looking for affordable nursery in Dubai for my kids for a full day session (7:30am - 5:30pm) I have 4 kids ranging from 9 year to 9 months. I am looking for advice on nurseries/daycare/summer camps where I can leave all 4 kids and it would be reasonable. Preferably a nursery that will give me a very good discount for putting all 4 kids. Thanks Affordable to some may not be to others, the rents in Dubai are high therfore it has a knock on effect with sevices provided from such premises. Your budget will dictate in the end ☺
