I am only adding to this out of concern after seeing dentro's post about all the nannies/maids hanging out in the corridor at spinneys. I too see this all the time and it makes me so sad :( At the park further on under the bridge a little girl was crying while her brother rode around on his bike and all the nanny did was shout at her to stop crying. An hour or so later as I was walking back with my girls to stop off at spinneys on the way home...this particular nanny was pushing the stroller with the little girl still crying her eyes out and clearly distressed as the nanny was pacing up and down with the little boy nowhere to be seen! I can only assume she lost him, as she was freaking out a bit. I sincerely hope she found the little boy but this nanny was horrible to those children and I just felt for them..if only the parents knew :(

Hi champagneblonde...may I ask where your little one does ballet. I have just started looking into ballet classes for my 3 year old. She too will be attending nursery 3 mornings a week and I have already booked swimming...just looking for that lovely ballet class where she can start wearing her gorgeous little ballet shoes and tutu again. She has really missed it! Im realising you are really spoilt for choice here in Dubai, been here for just over 3 months now and we are not missing home! Away for a month over Ramadan but looking forward to the cooler months to get out in the fresh air a bit more. Are there a couple of particular play centres you like? We have only been to cheeky monkees so far. Thanks :)

We have been here 7 weeks now and my hair was becoming dry, frizzy and falling out :( After trawling this forum for tips before we arrived, I took the advice to buy a filter shower head. I bought the blu one from the Marina pharmacy and it is wonderful! My skin is greatful for it too. Im currently searching for the tap version for the bath. I have also gone back to using pantene as the silicone actually provides a coating to the hair protecting it from the heat, chlorine (swimming) and other elements and this too has made a massive difference. Do a final rinse off in cold water before getting out of shower to seal hair. Nutrition makes a big difference, perhaps a supplement for skin, hair and nails and drink lots of bottled water. Also, there are specific sun products for hair that are very protective you can buy if you don't fancy cheap old pantene. I would also suggest a leave in conditioner and treatments for the hair. Hope these tips help :)

Good news, going to trial out a part-time maid starting Sunday recommended from the security guy. I also met a couple of others but they couldn't do the times I wanted and barely spoke English. Let me know if you want me to ask her for you. Cool, look forward to hearing all about Dubai family and friends, sounds really good :)

Lol...I don't know how that posted twice! We have not contacted them yet as we did not take out insurance as the excess was about $1000!! We should have looked at another insurance policy. Never mind, we will replace at some point. Thanks for the lovely offer of help, should be ok but I will holler if I need help. Same here, if you need anything just let me know. Will check out that website, it sounds great! We havn't been to the beach yet, been too busy setting up house.

Know what you mean about sorting your heads out..us too! I feel better after taking the girls out for the morning, discovered a park under a bridge along Marina Walk so we went there after a costa stop! The shipping company were great but we are peaved as my desk is broken and our tv unit has a chip in it. This is despite it being wrapped really well. They did unpack for us but dumped everything in piles, it was like coming home to being robbed and all our things (even precious stuff) just piled high. This was despite all the boxes being labelled. So, it is taking a while to get sorted and the girls toys are all totally muddled...I don't know where to start. Am phoning an agency this afternoon. Let me know if you fancy a coffee, park or a meet in the play room :)

Lol! Us too, this is our 2nd week. Our shipping arrived last Wednesday and we are still trying to unpack and sort the place out! Its going to take a bit I think. I desperately need maids to help me sort things, 2 came today for interview and they hardly spoke English so no good. How are you settling in?

Thank you for posting this, we have been here 5 weeks (live in Dubai Marina) and I am only just now looking into library, playgroups and activities. I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old and am trying to decide whether to go to nursery 3 days a week, a pre-school or keep her home. Decisions, decisions! We are used to being very busy so I too will be watching this thread, but right now I am just enjoying having my two home and not rushing about :) edited by mandmsmum on 02/06/2013

Thank you so much for posting this thread as we are about to move to Dubai from Brisbane in 3 weeks with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. I would love to meet up so our little ones can play together, we are used to being very social so the sooner we can meet friends, the better :) Good luck with your move and look forward to hopefully meeting some of you! edited by mandmsmum on 02/04/2013

Thank you Ginnee and Mrs Raynor...we are very excited yet somewhat a tad scared that it is happening! The quicker I can get my girls into a routine and playing with new friends the better I think. Also I am excited to be meeting new mums :)

Hello, I am a mummy to two little girls (almost 1 and 3) from England and Australia...we have been in Australia for the past 20 months!..We are moving to Dubai at the end of April. I was hoping to meet some fellow mums on here so we could get out and about for play dates, etc straight away as we are very social. Hoping you might be able to recommend kids clubs, activities too. I look forward to meeting you, Stacey edited by mandmsmum on 12/03/2013
