Just try doing a search as I remember there was a trained and well experienced lady moving to Doha from the UK a couple of months back. Can't remember the username.

I had booked an appointment with Dr Razan for April a few weeks back. Yesterday I got a call from Al Ahli that she needs to do an emergency procedure on the day of my appointment and they need to reschedule. I have now got an appointment for May...its crazy because I would think they should try to fit me in somewhere close to my original appointment but this is 20 days later. No point trying to reason with the lady on the phone; I am not pleased.

Had no plans of going but DH suggested we go over for a quick look (we live close by). Went at around 8pm and it was really busy. The parking was full so we had to go up ahead into the huge open area in the back and park. Guess they were expecting the crowd as the area was well lit and a way made for us to walk to the entrance. Very crowded inside the store and it took a good 20 minutes at check out. There was plenty of friendly and helpful staff. Could not make it to the restaurant but maybe heading back soon enough as mother in law wants to get some stuff!!

I know that Doha does have a rental dispute etc "office" but nothing much came out of it for us. There was a problem between the owner and the agency handling the lease etc of our first apartment building and as a result our deposit was stuck. DH filed a complaint and was called to court a couple of months later but that was the end of it. The owner never turned up and it was a waste of time to pursue but this was a couple of years ago so maybe things have changed. Legally I don't think u are allowed to increase more than 10%. Just called DH and he says there is a government office in Muntazah area for rental disputes etc.

Baking can be pretty easy; follow the basics like measuring out all the ingredients, preheating the oven etc. Like the other poster said, you should be able to get some great handy information online

My boys have a shower as soon as they get home from school. I used to do the shower before bedtime routine before but found that this works better for us as they are sweaty after playing in school all morning. On weekends its usually first thing after breakfast. Definitely once a day though!!

Have u tried the Jelaiah compounds in Duhail; there are three compounds which belong to the same owner so maybe u can check which one has a house which fits your budget. I know Riviera rents are higher than your budget. Good Luck!

@katcalls, I will post if I find someone else although I doubt it. I went to the dermatologist at Hassan Abdullah clinic when the problem started in the summer and the treatment did not work. I then tried Apollo and the doctor there tried to go about it in a systematic manner with proper tests etc and although there is improvement, it has not gone away. I am still hoping I can see Dr Razan soon as I really need a sound opinion and treatment.

We have been here for five years and I like it here. I love the quality time we are able to enjoy as a family and feel its a good place to raise the kids. DH and my family are settled in different continents and this is a great in between place; we have both sets of parents visit us regularly. Traffic is awful; I only got my car recently and drive within a certain radius. There are so many different restaurants to try and most things are available in the bigger grocery chains. Good Luck with your decision!

Cal_Hob, we have used a driver for the school run for the last four years as there was no bus facility. Everything went well with the driver until last month when a series of events led us to have to let him go. Yes I have had many days of anxiety sending the kids with him etc but there was no other option at the time. I hope you are able to figure out a suitable arrangement.

Not sure about the procedure but perhaps a call to any driving school may give some information.

I am also looking for someone who's good with layers; I have thick hair and unless the layers are cut and blended well I look like a mess. I tried a Jordanian lady who runs a salon from her villa back in the summer and she did an excellent job but have not been able to get hold of her since then. Either she's fully booked or she's been out of the country. Tried two of the recommended salons from this forum and don't want to go back. @zookeeper, what is the name of the lady who cuts your hair and do you have a number please? Thanks

Well my 8 year old is in bed at 7pm and he does take between 15-30 minutes to fall asleep. He is up at 6:30am to get ready for school. No protests so far as he does get tired with school, homework etc.

From the time I was little, all I wanted was to get married and have lots of kids. I have three now and trying to convince DH for a fourth (I want a daughter so badly) but I doubt its going to happen. I also recently read the quote someone else mentioned; you may never regret not having a child but you will never regret the one you had. Bringing up kids is not easy but it is fun and fulfilling. Good Luck with your decision.

My Dad had stayed at Jindal NatureCure Institute, near Bangalore (South India)long time back. He lost a lot of weight during his time there but also put it back on once he returned home. However he learnt Yoga and still does his breathing exercises etc every morning so it did benefit him in that sense. He has talked about it being tough with the regimen while you are there but he enjoyed it. Hope that helps.

I bought mince from C4 after which my whole family was sick (throwing up, stomach upset); this was around two years ago. Never bought there again. It was around the same time when C4 was having problems with the meat section. I buy all meat/fish at Lulu Gharaffa and never had any problems.

We have a driver to take the kids to school as there's no bus service. I have been driving them this past month as I finally have a car but we have decided to go back to having a driver as it was getting too much with the youngest going to a separate nursery etc. So yes you should be able to hire a driver on a monthly basis. Call some of the companies listed in the posts below or ask the school's security if they know of someone. Hope that helps

The agency we were going to use (the ban came into effect the morning after we submitted all our documents; lucky huh) told us that the new law applies only for new visas. This is also what I remember reading. However maybe u could call the agency where you first employed her from and ask.

Aveeno is a great product; my first born arrived in the peak of the Canadian winter and had mild eczema as well. I had to use steroids for a little while but continued with Aveeno until it cleared when he was older.

You can fly into Port Blair from Chennai or Kolkata. Here are recommendations for places to see: In Port Blair: Ross Island Viper Island Cellular Jail North Point Havelock Island; Radhanagar Beach where you will be able to see the elephants/go diving There was a resort here by the name of Wild Orchid and it had great food. There was a new resort by the name of Silver Sands under construction so maybe worth looking into that as well. Mid Andamans: Limestone caves and Mud volcanoes For this area you may need to get prior permission Sanjay Gandhi Marine Park; Wandoor Beach. From here you can go to Red Skin Island for snorkeling etc Just a word of warning: the undercurrents are strong in the sea so please be careful and take necessary precautions. If you need any more information, let me know. Hope you enjoy your trip!

I have been planning to attend but still have not got around to it. Heard good things about it from those who are attending. If I am not mistaken, I think you can go for a 'trial session' and then decide if u want to continue.

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned in the first post that we do have a charcoal bbq right now and as you rightly said its taken a while to get the hang of temperature etc to get the meat right. DH is the one who does the BBQ though. We need a bigger one as the kids are growing and we often have friends over, so thinking over which one to invest in.

I also buy the ready paste (Thai Food King) and here's my version: Heat some oil, add in the paste and fry a little. Add the coconut milk and bring to a boil. Put on simmer and add one stock cube. Add prawns, lime leaves, slit chillies and fish oil. Serve hot over steamed rice.

One of DH's colleagues is staying there and I would not recommend it. The apartments and villas come furnished and they have recently had problems with bed bugs etc. The rents are quite low compared to Doha but I think if you really want to stay in Wakra, you may be able to find better houses in other compounds. Hope that someone else is able to give u more input.

I used the henna from Lush 5-6 times at the beginning of this year. I have dark brown hair with lots of grey and it was effective in covering those. However I never used their black henna; tried the maroon and brown (can't remember exactly). It made my hair really soft and my scalp was not itchy (like when I use the other henna packets) but I found that the overall color of my hair was changing so I panicked and stopped. Maybe it was just me but I like my natural color and did not like it becoming lighter. Btw if you decide to use the black henna from Lush I think u first have to use the red to cover the grey and then apply the black. This is what the sales lady told me.
