How about asking one of the nursery staff if they could look after your child for an extra hour and you pay them??? I know many of the nannies do babysitting...As for when your child is in school, just check out after school activities or ask your friends if they could have her for a couple of hours???

Thanks for your help - sorry for the late reply. It's been a bit crazy here. Quick 2nd Q - Does he need to take any documents, and whats the cost involved? The Moroccan embassy and consulate have not answered their phones...fun! Thanks, M76

It wasn't meant to be. Went to the vet again and she had gotten even worse. She lost even more weight and after a long discussion I made the hardest decision in my life so far. She went to sleep in my arms. I was with her all the time. But I didn't want her to suffer anymore as she had. I hope it was the right thing to do but I guess I will never know for sure. All I know is that now my baby is not in pain anymore. And I am glad I was with her and it didn't happen at home on her own. Hope that gave her some peace!!!

Hi there, DH is going to Morocco in the next few weeks for business, and he is a British Citizen. He has tried every website under the sun this weekend to try and find out if he needs a visa - most say no, but some are not clear. He is resident here. IF any of you ladies have flown from here to Morcco, it would be a great help to know if you needed a visa. many thanks, Mareike 76

Thanks for that - we have the original contract still, so we might have to use that. So is it ID card, then Medical tests, then DNRD? Am a bit lost about the order to do things

Hi ladies, DH and I have been scouring the DNRD website for advice, but it seems we have found every service but the one we need. Can anybody talk us through the procedure of visa renewal, as it seems there have been changes - something about DEWA and tenancies? Any help would be gladly received! M76

Thanks for your replies ladies. As its for a teachers conference, it has to be as low budget as possible- it has to come out of our pocket. He loved the USB idea but it costs 26AED per piece- too expensive sadly.

Is jazeera sports free to air? No, but if you have Du, you can watch the games on ARD or ZDF. 794 or 5 i think but commentary will be in German! edited by mareike76 on 09/06/2012

They just said audio cannot be split because of the French open. Can't see how this is technically an issue - they are on diff channels!!!! but all other games after now will be in both HD and English - Will believe it when i see it!

It's rubbish - We only have one channel in standard def in English, the HD signal is only in Arabic again. It's also jumping all over the place.........terrible quality. Last night we managed to see the Russia game in English and HD on JSC HD1 - so they can clearly do it - why is it not for every game???? I don't get it. Maybe my money only counts after 22.45.............

We got it on 533 on Du, but DH is not best pleased that he was sold it as being in HD and English - seems that you can have one or the other but not both......there is an English language option on JSC HD1 but that only plays in Arabic bizarrely - poor service from AJ. Really disappointing. Hope they sort it out for games later in the tournament...... thats what happened in the world cup, you have option for arabic and english but only arabic would work. Yep, you're right, forgot about that! they never get it right - why am I not surprised at all? edited by mareike76 on 08/06/2012

Thanks for that - I'll pass that on to him. Half of the problem is that he has to use company money (which he has to account for every cent) and he wasn't too happy about having to do the paperwork on extra transactions. The back up was taking USD and changing it locally. He is being picked up at the airport, so at least that removes some urgency about exchanging cash. Whats the rate like now for USD?

Thanks for the idea - DH is concerned about double charging at ATM - once for withdrawal fee, then again being hit for a skewed exchange rate. He also said that Roubles are better as it's easier to make a direct translation to dirham in your head, rather than flipping between currencies when using dollars. There is a bunch of them going over, so they all want to do the same if poss.

Fluffyfrank-thank you! So there is hope left for my little darling!!! Back to the original post...I wouldn't pull him out of nursery ( maybe change the nursery ) but I think puling out will not help him. Plus next year when he goes to school you can't just pull him out when he misbehaves... I am a teacher myself and one thing that worries me was that the teacher said he won't sit still during colouring...Well,why does he have to? If he doesn't want to clour why can't he do something else???? In my class for example are a few " must " do times like circle time but when I say must do I mean I will sit with them and read, sing etc but if the class is too excited we will do something else first, then get back to circle time later....Also there should be a minimum of 3 adults in the room, so can't one of them interfere before your son hurts someone else?? Maybe talk to them again and see if they are willing to discuss any way forward??? ( I am teaching 2-3 year olds and I would always talk with the parents first to see if we can work out something together....)

Hi, I second the Christmas Market in Nuernberg rather than Munich. Nuernberg is the most wonderful and beautiful Christmas Market in Germany....We drove from Munich to Nuernberg and it took about one and a half hours...About 170kms I think. If you want to go anywhere by train ( Deutsche Bahn) please book in advance as the tickets are usually cheaper by 50% and more. Also they always have adverts on german tv about Bahncard ( travelcard ) for Germany and Europe...May be worth to check it out... I find Berchtesgaden ( 100kms outside Munich and on the border to Salzburg ) wonderful and the most romantic place ever-especially if there is snow...The slopes, the lakes, the landscape all the old churches and so on...love it!!!!!!! Salzburg was wonderful too as is Vienna..Both cities offer horse drawn carridge rides-fantastic and don't get me started on all the wonderful cafees serving the most amazing cakes and hot chocolates...And the beers and mulled vine.....I am jealous... Can't say anything about Prague tho... Also check out websites like travelocity and www.hrs.de which always offer cheao deals on good hotels. We booked a family room in vienna including breakfast for 2 nights for just over 100 euros....Good luck and enjoy!!!!!

Dear Green-ish, thank you so much for your post on the Tea cup dogs! I never knew this and the family and I always wanted one. ( We currently have a Saluki/Lab X who is big, strong, halthy and well loved and we got him here from one of the rescue organisations..) We thought it would be nice to have a little lap dog as well but after reading the article I would never get a teacup dog. Those poor little souls! I can't believe breeders would harm those poor little angels so much on purpose just to earn the extra money!!!! Disgusting!!! We always wanted the second dog once we move back to Europe so at least now I know to do a proper research, far enough in advance, on breeders and all that! Saying that, I am so happy with our rescue dog that I would probably go to the animal shelters again!!! Thank you so much!!!!

Then he says-oh hang on-I change setting and now leave it and it will cool down...If not he will come Saturday night to fix it as it is Friday tomorrow!WTF...I sarcastically asked him if he expects me to camp downstairs with my child, cats and dog and his anwer-it's only til Saturday night....Erm-HELLO???? Went crazy but they are filling up gas again-paid them 600 for that last week only???!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOING CRAZY!!!!!! On the bright side-bought a little fridge today so at least I have cold drinks and the necessary items.....Why does it never get easier? And why do things like this have to happen when hubby is away????? He owes me big time I think!!!

It is a shame you can't publicly name and shame landlords here! Disgraceful!!!! And no cold drinks either!!! Asked the AC and general mechanic to look at the fridge for me-His reply...no worries mam, only the light bulb in fridge not working-it is cooling still--ahem,more like it's still a little cool inside because it only just broke!!!!Maybe I should better attempt to fix the AC myself jusging by his skills...lol Raise your glasses to better luck tomorrow!!!!

Thank you all! Really feel like I am going crazy! Sewage got sorted by a really really god send handyman who lives here...He was fantastic! The AC guys have been here forever now and are missing a part or whatever....then the boss got the part but security wouldn't let them in-i said he can climb the fence or whatever but I wouldn't let his guys out until it's fixed! How awful is that of me?? But I can't take anymore! My lo is asleep on the sofa, they messed up the whole of upstairs with water and dirt and now I am here alone with 4 or 5 guys in the house trying to fix that AC! If they had said 5 hours ago they can't fix it it wouldn't have been a prob....And then I wanted a cold drink and the fridge broke....One thing too much! On the bright side, the freezer is fine!!! And my friend is coming over for company so I am not alone with the guys!!!! Thank heavens for friends...and Malibu! I never thought little things like this could drive me insane but if it just keeps coming one eventually flips...What's that film? Falling down???

Hi, tell him dragons are not real but it is oftan a lot to understand for a 3 year old. How about you get all kitted out for a dragon search around the house-dress up as whatever, use a torch, toy sword....whatever might make him feel better and search high and low for signs of a dragon! Of course there won' be any. Then appoint Teddy nr 1 to be the guard by the door and another one to guard the bed for when he goes to sleep. And then invent an item that a dragon will be so scared off that he won't ever go near it-make up a story about it....can be anything-magic stone, blanket....and give it to your son before bedtime!!! Just make sure you tell the story well and believable!!!!!! Good luck!

DH is a Bio teacher - says losing that book is not the end of the world as it lacks the detail to secure the higher grades. Better to use the course textbook for revision. DH is also a bio teacher - he agrees that it's not detailled enough for getting the higher grades. That said it can help get your head round things, so you can get the [b'>basic[/b'>[u'>[/u'> idea of whats going on. He said he hasn't seen the CGP book around, but reckons Kinokuniya is your best bet. Hope that helps!
