thinking back on the set up, they could have done the layout differently, the busiest sections were the children's activities, and they all were lumped together near the exit. There were large unused spaces in the centre, so it could have been more scattered.

Just back from the festival, it was fab! Parking was a complete nightmare though, I had to park several blocks away, and walk back. Lots of activities for children, and singing/dancing on stage. The snow machine at the entrance was so cute..

As far as i know your closest music school would either be in Jumeirah or even Wafi city. I dont think there are any music schools in Downtown, although there may be some private teachers teaching in their homes.

This is very easy to do on your own. 1. Go to a typing centre who will type out the entire document in English and Arabic, there are various templates that you can edit. 2. Both people need to go to Dubai Courts Notary, with Original Passport and Emirates ID, and the notary will ask you both to sign and stamp it. A couple hundred dirhams i think.

It interest rates for a mortgage and personal loan are different. If you can get a personal loan for 400 K (depending on your job/salary etc) then i would take it, as then the apartment will always be in your name, title deed etc, and not the bank's

1 million ! Jeez! How are they ever going to find the best teacher in the world? Especially, when it is so personal and subjective. The prize is being compared to the Nobel prize, so perhaps would have been a better idea to see the best innovations in education?

I want to set up a learning centre in Knowledge Village, but I heard that you need the KHDA approval. Does anyone know what are the KHDA requirements are? I tried calling them, but no one picked up. I'm feeling very frustrated! You need KHDA approval for every form of learning centre, the requirements vary from activity to activity. eg a nursery compared to a language institute

The complete sentence...... was "In the next few months Dubai is further poised to enhance its status as a global city, with positive feedback and support from across the world for our city’s bid to host the World Expo 2020." Am not actually sure what they mean and am sure they mean Emirate when they say city..... I cant see what is wrong with this. I too only see the word 'further' being unnecessary, although not entirely incorrect, and can only find ONE comma....

I can see what they're trying to say but these non natives just sound more dumb when they try to sound posh. As for Dubai - both a City and an emirate. Also - excessive commas aaaaaaargh makes me want to tear my hair out. I am always curious about the debate of native and non-native english speakers. My opinion is that it comes down to the quality of education you've received, and not your background.

Hello ladies, My cousin and I want to buy a studio purely on an investment purpose. Something that will bring in rent and is in a good popular location so even if it is vacant, it is easily rentable and sellable. We are thinking of a studio in one of these places: Greens Discovery Gardens International City Sports City Jumeirah Village/Circle/Triangle JLT Motor City Does anyone have any idea on which one would give more return on investment and easily rentable and sellable? Please help with your advice..thanks edited by Nadiya on 10/09/2013 There is a huge price difference between some of these areas...eg JLT/Motor city compared to Sports city or international City. Rental returns depend on the property, currently my studio in DG gets me about 12% rental return per year.. You also need to consider the service charge/community fee etc..

Correct. I took over a cafe and another business licence, my experience has taught to NEVER get involved with another business/Trade Licence or do anything under somebody else's licence. The complications are simply not worth it, and it ends up being FAR more expensive. Do it the right way. Go Freezone/Mainland, and get your own licence/premises.

You need to cancel your current visa before you exit the country, If you hold a passport that gives you entry on arrival then you can come back on a tourist visa, however your company can list you as an absconder if you leave without cancelling. Also then difficult for any future employer to issue you a visa, until you have been cleared from the system.

'bans' do not exist in freezones, so yes you could perhaps leave, but they will need to cancel your visa status, as you are already on the new company's sponsorship if you have the pink visa. You will have to perhaps pay the cost of the process etc

It is an employer's market to be honest, so jobs are difficult especially in the summer. On the other hand, there are LOADS of people interviewing who are simply not good enough to hire. So If you are good at what you do, and can truly contribute to a company, you will definitely get picked up!

I hear you! I too was desperate for delivery boys for my restaurant, i actually printed 1000 business cards that said "Delivery boys wanted" with contact details etc, just give them out to waiters, security guards, cleaners, etc.. That demography doesnt really respond to dubizzle or print ads, it's more word of mouth. Good luck! Ps. We got FULL medical/emergency insurance for all our delivery boys and drivers. I just feel better, since they are practically on the road all day.

It needs to be renewed every year, and also gets residency visa. You don't get to hire people as it is 'freelancer', which is why I earlier said more suited to individuals like teachers, photographers. You cannot get your own labour card, only a company can get you a labour card, if you are on your own sponsorship, like husband/dad's visa. The OP wants to instruct in various places in Dubai which she can individually, but if she wants to team up with other teachers and run an organized business, then she needs to open a business.

[b'>I do not believe it is termed freelance[/b'>, I believe it is a specified category of license, for which the services do operate in the same nature as freelance, but pure freelance means home based and non registered. You can have a virtual office space in FZs. But, again, it depends on whom your business services and if there is sufficient business in the FZ for you. Anyway, this is the most advice anyone can offer without an idea of what you do. FZ licenses can start from 21K. The Department of Economic Development has an estimate calculator you can use. Costs depend on the nature of your business. as an example of knowledge village http://www.kv.ae/join-dkv/how-to-join-dkv Check freelancer link.

He is sponsoring a company so it can run here, he isn't free labour or a charity case. For 10K he does all the paperwork that locals handle and the law is satisfied. And that is cheap. Some will charge 50K plus. There is no freelance license. It is a free zone license, which is in an area that does not fall under Dubai business laws. If you have a license out of that are it has to have a physical office address and premises. There are 'freelancer' licences too, please enquire with Knowledge village and Media City. More suited to talent rather than service, eg. photographers/musicians etc Even businesses in the freezone need to have premises. Many people get by with renting a hot desk, or under other business umbrellas. There are many companies who use other companies' premises to run their own businesses, eg ballet in Gyms? After school swim? According to my interpretation it is all illegal, but it happens.

51% local ownership is not profi divrsion, it is a private agreement between yourself and the sponsor. For example, DH has this for a company and it means he gets a 10K AED fee annually and then has nothing to do with the company. Some charge rates per signature, it is person dependent but rarely profit based as the local will not invest in the company financially. Bear in mind with freezine companies that they only service free zones, you cannot do business with companies or people out of the freezine. edited by AmyAus82 on 07/06/2013 He gets !0 k for nothing ?? not nothing, but the LSA (local service agent) / Local Emirati partner is crucial to your daily operations, you need his signature for all procedures, visas, licences, NOC's permits etc. ok, so 10k for being a signatory... Yup, the way I see it, it maybe was introduced years and years ago, as a way to keep control of Expat investment.

I'm a bit of a novice at this and don't really understand the whole freezone bit. The nature of our business will mean that we travel to different areas within Dubai to give classes. Will that mean we can't set up a company within a freezone? Also how much capital do you need to begin with? Thanks for the help With the capital question; I think that really depends on the freezone, and the rental etc, fit out,

With a freezone licence you are allowed to operate only in the area covered by the freezone. eg; If you have a JLT freezone licence, then you can only operate in the JLT area. In practice, this does not happen, as we can see so many freelance instructors in music, tennis, swim, dance etc. Also, to operate in different areas, you need a 'freelancer' licence, to be a 'company' you must have a lease, and instruct there. Hope that makes sense, I may be incorrect, so please do add if other ladies can. I for one choose to be completely legal. I rent and pay a very LARGE rental in a freezone, and people come into my office to avail of my service.

I own two companies, one in in Dubai and another in a freezone. If you have small operation needs, like just two employees, then I highly recommend you go the freezone route. But officially this really depends on the business, as you are allowed to operate only in the freezone. It is very very easy to set up in the freezone, I do not recommend using any companies, as they end up being very very expensive. If you don't mind sharing what you are doing vaguely, then I maybe able to advise with better clarity.

my contract also says AED500, and also that the amount needs to be paid in cash. I would just pay the 500, as your cheque did bounce. That also gives LL cause to evict or press charges, which he didnt.
