Totally opposite direction, but The music box in DSO, have just expanded and have a large room, which can definitely be used for dance. They even have a gorgeous grand piano in there which might help for ballet?

Hi all, I moved to Dubai last August with my 5 year old, deaf son (moderate to severe hearing loss, and wears hearing aids). There don't seem to be any groups for families affected by hearing loss here - I'm thinking of getting something started for expats so we can share tips etc. Families with deaf children, and perhaps deaf parents with hearing children (if they are interested). I've also been looking into music classes for my son - I would love to get him started using the Suzuki method but it doesn't seem to be available here. It's a way of learning music through listening and repeating. Anyone heard of any teachers here? Music box in DSO offers Suzuki Violin, i also read on one of the teachers bios on their wall who is also working on a project /musical resource for children with cochlear implants, might be able to help?

i am an employer, and would really advise people not to get into court. Always try try try your best to get it sorted out of court, or even accept a lower pay out. The case will drag on for years, and during that time you are not allowed to work, NO body will hire you, as you dont have clear papers. However, the company/CEO will go on functioning as normal. I have had to turn down some great candidates who interviewed, as they simply were not free of the case, and therefore unable to commit.

Celtic girl is right. IT is not worth it, do it the right way, get an actual shop/office for yourself. International city has some offices at very very cheap prices, cheaper than 27ooo a year. And since you dont need to use it anyway, who cares if it is in an undesirable area? use it as a store room if you need it.

you can get an enclosure built in your balcony. I made my own cage for my parrot, bought the grill from DragonMart, the entire roll and fixed it with a handyman for like 300 aed.

i just bought the IKEA one as its the perfect size to fit where i wanted it, in the kitchen next to the refigrator. I added extra padding by adding foam, from the old ironing board.

What gsm/quality paper were you looking for? DESCO's A1 is on very thin paper (printer paper), which makes it all dull looking. Different kinds of paper make colours look different How were you going to mount it?

What is the size you are looking for A1/A0? have you tried decoupage? You can split the print in four A3 corners, and just hang them side by side.

I see it as a bubble too. I own an apartment, and yes whilst the rents are rising, i am still going to get rid of it the minute my tenant moves out next week :) The real estate is not worth it unless i was living in it, and had the CASH spare. The interest on a mortgage plus service charges are far too high.

if you can discreetly get the work done, and it is not too obvious externally, then just do, dont ask. I suspect it wont be easy to get them to approve.

Great this is what we thought, our contract doesn't expire until June which is when we were expecting to receive 12 months notice. But I suspect he thinks that he has given us notice now so will either not be expecting to renew in June or for us to move out 12 months from now... Nope if you contract does not state Non Renewable then he has to give it to you in writing once your current contract expires. This is the law and if he does not agree you can pay your cheques and get your contract at the rental committee :-) Thats right, i am assuming he emailed you right? Then just email him back, saying Dear xx, thank you for your email, but i have checked with Rent Committee (not RERA), one needs 12 month notice from June etc, so we will be vacating in June 2014.

some great responses here.. Good to keep in mind, that if you pay more doesnt really mean you get better teaching, some places charge 300 AED per hour, which is ridiculous IMHO. Also, what works for one child may not work for another, all children and piano teachers are not equal. The teacher can have totally different results with two different children. A balance between learning to read, and play by ear is needed, but this irons itself out when you take music exams, as they test you on sight reading and ear tests etc.

So i dont really want to move her home :(

What do you mean by 'grey zone'? That you continue doing your work without a licence, and still get a few paying clients? -That in fact is illegal. -You may continue working like that in the 'grey zone', but very quickly can turn into 'red zone', if caught by the right guy, on the wrong day. i highly reccomend being above board in all things you do, even if it means you partner up, or work for someone else (under their licence).

Hi Ladies, I need to help some of my waiters open a bank account, but the minimum salary is 3000 and the required constant balance is 3000. Can anyone help? The salary that they are getting is 2,500 and the only issues is the boys as the girls do not face the same requirements. !!!!!! I opened a bank account for our receptionist, she too earns lower than 3000, and they need a constant balance of 3000 too. I simply paid that deposit myself (company cheque), and will deduct it over a year or two..

I will be laying my cards on the table to say I live in Dso and kids in the local school which I find overwhelming big. The previous sch my eldest was in - I was on the PA and loved it. It was all about fundraising and most importantly community spirit. The principal would stand at the school gate and welcome every parent and child to school. There were 460 pupils - that doesnt happen here lol. Im usually racing between classrooms to collect kids at same time. One group has already fromed their own Mommy friends, the others seem to busy to network... DD starting a new activity this week horses my own passion so yes I will be hanging out. ;-) edited by shamrock3 on 27/01/2013 Theres a coffee morning at music box in DSO next week!

Also if the company is licensed to a freezone, legally they cannot trade outside of the said freezone. Correct! But i have yet to see this really enforced, there are so so many freelancers, who have visas and licences from Virtuzone, RAK, Fujairah, etc etc, and yet do business in dubai.

Thanks Ayzzy. Report them to whom? Who is the "governing" body? If you question the integrity of a trade licence or 'legalness' of the person, then you can Check with DED/ or the freezone if you are in one.. EVERY SINGLE person in dubai who is working for a company, must possess a labour card. Many people just work without for years. Unfortunately we start questioning only if the experience is bad or negative. You do not get a labour card if you work in a freezone. You get the equivalent of a labour card, called Temporary workers permit or an Identity Card with the Freezone's logo on it.

Sorry for your experience but i guess that's why you don't use people who don't have a license. True, It is also the same with arabic tutors, music teachers, dieticians, etc etc etc... Best to always stick with licenced (sp) businesses.. I agree with that as well BUT in reality I have never asked anyone for his certificates or licence for services ... seriously are you doing that ?? I dont usually have private instructors come home for Yoga and what not, i go to the Yoga studios, or music institutes etc...most businesses have their licences on display...so no need to ask if they're licenced...

We went through something similiar but with our three dogs. Overnight, two of the dogs could not STAND the sight of each other! They would start tearing at each other, biting, blood everywhere and all the kids crying in the house. This was because both the male dog had mated with both the females, and although they were not pregnant, they knew it. This probably sounds weird, but their behaviour was almost human like! We could never solve it, and for seven years the two enemy dogs stayed on different floors, we even built an elaborate grate/fence system where the two dogs could be kept away from each other. We lived in a four story, 10+ roomed house, so had tons and tons of separated areas.

Generally people dont let go of profitable businesses. Would you? So if a business is for sale, then it is not doing well, or needs an influx or energy or funds or vision. Dubizzle has tons for sale. What is your budget? as options are from 100 K to 2 million.

Refer to scribds post below. What matters most is how much work and practice is being done at home. You could pay all the money in the world to the best teacher, but zero practice = zero progression. There are various schools in dubai, and many of them are professional (qualified teachers). What/who/which school works for one child, may not work for yours. Children in dubai, often go to many music teachers, before settling down )or moving!

In Dubai a back pack and a ticket home won't get you very far in supporting another adult, let alone getting legal status and accomodation. I came with not even a backpack! It was just a folder to hold some cash and my passport. A job that was awful and paid 700 aed. However i took the chance, to get out of my country, and have a go. Ten years later, i look back with pride at how far ive made it. I now own and manage my own business here, and also own the apartment i live in, and also have bought a flat back home. Great friends, family and pets. You never know what is around the corner, so OP good on ya! all will be well. x Merry christmas

Does he like to perform? or is he shy? I think best to join an activity that works towards a performance, and something that is based in being inclusive, or one that does not audition perhaps.
