Hi spicy pepper, how's the house hunting going, I think we are looking at the same area and time of moving. I have been shown some villas so far but they are pretty run down so am thinking may have to look at a different location.

I'm also looking to move to jumeirah for the same budget end of November but agents tell me it is still too early and to wait another month. I'm already panicking I won't find something within budget! So if anyone knows of any villas coming up around this time please let me know. Thanks

Hi dogslife, absolutely agree with you we moved out of there last year, yes the villas are a good price but that's because there's nothing there yet, depends what you are looking for though, but as far as maintenance goes the place we have moved too has far more problems than we had with our villa there, hence off we go again!!!

completely depends, found my villa in march, didn't move in until june - they were gutting it completely. the one next door is only just finished - so that's taken them 6 months to get sorted! Thanks Kelly! how do you find villas that are in the process of being renovated as that would really appeal, are they advertised? did the estate agent contact you about them as it would be ideal to book something being renovated for being ready in a few months..... I would love to know this too, please let us know how you went about this. Thanks. edited by mayabkk on 19/09/2012

Yes it is very frustrating, we are moving end of nov beginning of dec and went to see a few villas in jumeirah/umm Sequiem but agents told us to wait 3-4 weeks before we leave to start looking. I am also concerned about what will be available at this time as this is the area I want to move too, and I have been rushed into taking a villa before as my time was running out! I don't want to be in that position again.

Thanks cymraes. Do you know if this turns both inside and outside water off. Our gardener comes daily and I still want him to be able to water the garden. Not sure if I feel comfortable leaving him the responsibility of turning off and on daily. Thanks.

Hi can anybody tell me where if I can switch my water off for inside the villa but keep it on for outside so the gardener can still come and water the garden. I'm going away and don't want to keep it switched on inside after my last couple of weeks mishaps! Thanks. Should add I'm in a 1E if that changes the location of where the tap may be! edited by mayabkk on 27/07/2012

Does anybody know if it's possible to find online, anywhere which states who is responsible for maintenance landlord or tenant. I want to make sure my facts are right before I go any further.

I hope you find somewhere. We are looking to move to Jumeirah/Umm Sequiem too, but not until November when our current lease expires. Can you get somewhere compound or standalone that is decent for this budget? We are looking at the same price range.

Hi there, I have been in both Phuket and Hua Hin in July and both times the weather was different. One time it was sooo hot and no rain, then next time it rained maybe half of the time but only one day was it all day. I think you just have to hope for the best but generally it lasts only for a short while then dries up very quickly. Krabi in my opinion is the most beautiful place in Thailand, the scenery, beaches are stunning but it is definitely a place for honeymooners. When we were there last time we were the only "family" in our hotel! We tend to just hang out at the beach, eat great food, go to some night markets and basically chill out. Girls love to go horse riding along the beach too. Let me know if you need any more info.

Hi I used to live in Thailand and we would often go to Hua Hin for the weekends. The owner of the school my DD2 used to attend owns a beautiful place called Baan Laksasubha. They are villas where you can rent the whole villa or just upstairs (no stairs inside the villa) or the downstairs. She has this year done some extending and it looks great. It is right on the beach and is just beautiful. Another place we stayed was the Intercontinental, again absolutely beautiful. It had just newly opened when we visited, this one is just slightly further away from the main town but very easy to get Tuk Tuks or taxis. The beach in my opinion is nicer at the Intercon. Have a look and see what you think. Can you tell I love Thailand.... we are going back in the summer to Krabi, I don't think you can get a much better valued holiday than Thailand, the people are lovely, the food is fantastic and very cheap. Hope you find something you like.

I am so sad to hear this. I follow her blog daily, having been diagnosed two years ago with colorectal cancer I can relate to everything she is going through. This must be a very tough time for Laura and her family, I'm thinking of them all and sending them all my positive thoughts, it's very important to remain positive throughout these difficult times. Take care x

Hi Vuster I agree Thailand is a fabulous place for vacation. We used to live in Bangkok and have done Phuket, Krabi, Koh Samui etc so interested to do Vietnam this year with a stop over in Bangkok for a few days. Is Phan Thiet a nice beach resort? We were thinking Hanoi also but I see you recommend Hoi an. Would this be a good choice or should we stick with the Thailand beach resorts?

Thanks so much for the replies. I will head to Global Village, and thanks also for the recommendation form the sofa. Have you any idea how much they would charge for a 3 seated and 2 armchairs, only changing fabric.

The service engineers arrived today to try to fix the washing machine but had to take it away and said it could be at least a week before it is returned. Can anybody recommend a good laundry service that will collect and deliver back. I live in The Villa, thanks.
