I have struggled with my weight for years and have been where u r. I have lost gained, relost, gained again and now need to 're loose again. Starting is the hardest part & the easiest. I find keeping a diary to see exactly what u r eating & drinking and starting from there. I have just started using myfitnesspal.com and so far enjoying it. Also attend Good Habits which provides the support weekly. Happy to chat more off line if u would like :)

Wow Newtodubai1, wow wow wow...I would really appreciate a chance to get to know you, well done you, my BMI is 31 so therefore I am obese, I have been here for a number of years, done no exercise and just got bigger and bigger and bigger, at this stage I just dont know what to do....I have tried running but it leaves me exhausted, hurting and not in a good way, I have tried swimming which I love but it seems to do nothing even though I do it every day, I just dont know what to do. Hi Twigger Know how u feel. I joined Good Habits and have lost 20kg with them..more to go. They meet weekly and I find it relatively easy. They have lots of meeting venues Google them. They r also on Facebook. It's hard at times but can be so rewarding Good on you newtodubai!!! Hope u move on soon

I have just started using myfitnesspal.com and finding it very easy. Great to track and see how u r going. Also shows u a projected weight loss based on ur day. I need to look at the forums though I am on myfitnesspal.com, it's free to join up and use and in my opinion, just BRILLANT! You log everything you eat and all the exercise you do and it really does help to have the figures in front of you at the end of the day. There is also an excellent forum on there and I have learnt loads of tips from reading the threads, there is always an "I need motivation / I'm at a plateau" kind of thread on the go which is very handy. There is also a fab "success story" section on the forum which is really inspiring. I have a look every day and it helps keep my focussed on my goals. Might be worth a go since it's free. I use myfitnesspal.com too and love the platform. As for the OP question I prefer Yoga to Pilates but I think it really is individual preference. If I don't have time for Yoga I at least try 30 minutes cardio (walking, biking, crosstrainer etc). Hit a long plateau last month and nothing helped till I went on vacation and ate one week normal ... apparently it worked as now, back on counting calories I seem to loose again.

Has anyone done this at Union Coop recently? Is this info still correct? Can you do it at the Manara Municipality Centre? Thanks.. The Coop office closed. Once u get eye test u can complete in most opticians now the whole process. Call RTA and check which ones. Will save going to 2 places. Otherwise u can go to Manara or online or over the phone. Good luck edited by Missymoo on 10/09/2012

thanks for the replies ladies. I have just called Etisalat and spoken with 2 different people who are telling me that I am not entitled to fatafeat on my basic western package. However I find this hard to believe as I had access to it 2 months ago (and also when I had the basic DU package). Has this happened to anyone else? I have the same issue :( very sad... I think they moved it to the Arabic package

Hi Missy! Not all protein powders are built alike, but many are. The first thing I check is the label, for filler like maltodextrin or lots of binders. (glorified coffee creamer in a lot of brands, which is cheap filler!) If you aren't sure about the ingredients, check the scoop size serving on the label. If there are only 20g protein and a serving size is 33g, ask yourself what is in the other 13g?? I usually buy the 100% whey by Optimum (blend of concentrate and isolate whey). They are made by Glanbia, and I like Glanbia's quality. If you have the room to store a 10b bag, (app 407 dhs) it is very economical, too. I am waiting for the day I see the Rocky Road flavor here :) Some people are a little sensitive to concentrate blends, so if you want to use 100% whey protein isolate, consider Isopure by Nature's Best. Isolate digests a little faster, so it won't keep you full as long. When I am not in a rush, I order from truenutrition.com. You can pick your own flavoring and sweetener, it's awesome. Even with shipping costs, I save money when I order directly from them. The markup on supplements here makes me want to cry!! Thanks Beebers :) Will do some more research

Hi Fairy When you replace a meal or two each day with protein shakes, this can lead to weight loss for sure. The best results I have had is when I eat 5-6 meals per day and 2 of those are protein shakes. They are a lot easier to digest than meat (I try to eat protein at each meal in some form) and therefore pass through more cleanly. If you have any dairy or lactose intolerance issues, this would be counterproductive for you. But if you don't have IBS, leaky gut, or any of those issues, I would say go for it. Try to select a whey protein formula which contains whey concentrate, whey isolate, and some flavoring in the way of natural flavors (cocoa, beet root, natural strawberry). A few "binders" such as xanthan gum and guar gum are harmless. Maltodextrin is a tricky ingredient--it is basically pulverized corn, and it is counter productive to weight loss. Vanilla flavored proteins are difficult to make without this, because it is a cheap anti-caking agent and vanilla is sticky. Regarding "fat burner" pills; usually dangerous. I have helped formulate a few myself, and taken so many I can't count, over the years. The problem lies with this: there is almost NO regulation for these "natural" products. Trust me. One pill may contain a harmful amount of something like yohimbe or bitter orange, while another pill in the same bottle has virtually none. Also, they don't, in and of themselves, "burn fat." The main reasons fat burners work are usually due to two elements. One, they may have a diuretic which mimics weight loss through water loss, initially. (such as uva ursi or dandelion root). Unfortunately, this is a temporary water loss effect, and fat is lost best in a hydrated environment. So, counterproductive, but convincing to the consumer, who experiences pounds lost thru water loss. The second reason they are effective is because they deliver energy to power through a workout. The workout makes you lose the fat; not the pill. What I would say is if you are low on energy, go for green tea or even coffee. At least you know what you are getting! Sorry about the long answer; I am rather passionate about this arena. :) If you want further info on things like this, check out my blog; I have a post in this section of EW listing the address if you scroll down on the threads :) Take care Hi Beebers Which protien shake do you use? TIA

Mat Leave can be taken before delivery ie if you became ill related to the pregnancy and needed time off work before your baby was born. You would need a Dr’s certificate for this Refer to the Labour law for more information It is not paid out though at the end of the contract.

mananna, from your previous posts am I right in understanding that one of your children requires addtional/aba/special help? This may help in locating the right person. I see you know Suzanne of Reachout, we were briefly involved with Suzanne at Reachout who promised to help, she went on holiday, missed our appointments and she never got back to us, despite us being so eager for her to help, thankfully with hindsight I am glad we did not enter into therapy with her - how can you drop a client who needs help ..... I hope you find what you are looking for. edited by cymraes on 19/07/2012 Hi Cymraes Can i ask where you ended up obtaining ABA therapy from? Thanks

My DD recently had major surgery in OZ and the Dr's and nurses where great so we gave some choccies with a Thank You Card she scribbled on. Same here as well with my DH recent stay - we shared my DD birthday cake and choc when he left to say Thank You.

do you think perhaps you should look after your children yourself? afterall, what was the point in having them if someone else is going to raise them? perhaps you could leave this thread without this kind of comment? There were and are so many mothers that have to leave their kids under someone else's supervision (nanny, grandparents, extended family) cause one income is just not enough to support the family or there is one income altogether (single mothers). WELL SAID!!!

If you ate unsure if your little one will eat it to start off with, you might like to try what I did. Pureed strawberries, blueberries, peas etc in an ice cube tray. Or food colouring mixed with natural yogurt. My little guy loves it in his high hair whilst I cook. That or home made play dough. Both very safe, as my DS eats everything (must get that from his mother lol). edited by flydiver11 on 15/08/2012 What a great idea!!! Will try it this weekend

Hi from the sounds of things u r in the right location. There are also little shops in that row and they are well worth visiting as well. Always ask them to show u lots of rolls so u get to see a good range. If u also continue walking up the street toward's the Emirate petrol station there is a street to your right. There use to be a good material shop there near the corner about 3 shops In- though I am not 100% they r still. Other place for material is Meena bazaar area if you're game :). Deepas is the tailor shop of Deepak's I have used them for years and always been very happy. Going to the tailors is certainly an experience that u need a few hours. Good luck!

What a shame...i was hoping it was a miracle cure as well :( Lucky my order got mixed up so maybe i won’t get it. My DD has just turned 3. We are curently at Child Learning, Jumeriah for OT & SLT. OT is going great for her but SLT very slow. They are now recommending that she does ABA therapy which i am researching. My DD has epilepsy (from 14mths) so is on medicine's for that so it’s hard to tell with her behavior what is what as the meds screw her up. She is behind so we are trying to catch her up as long as there are no other issues so to speak. Haven’t had much luck with Kids First due to hours etc but still trying to work something out. Andria was one of the SLT they had suggested. Cost wise therapy is EXPENSIVE but what to do :( Which brand are you using for the Magnesium, Calcium and Zinc tablet? Its all so confusing at times as to what way to go and whats best especially as they are so young
