I had mine done last week at the Mankhool Health Centre. Took me ages to find but the lady there was very helpful. You need to turn down the road where the public library is and keep going. You'll eventually see it in front of you. Put these numbers in google maps and there it is 25.246831,55.292307 HTH edited by Mollydxb on 08/09/2012

30 x 30 on gloss finish was 30 dirhams! If your driving down Al Wasl road heading to Bur Durbai take a right at the lights where iranian hospital is on to hudaiba street (plant street) take the 1st possible left turn (ab copy centre on 1 corner and western union on the other) and it there on the left next to ab copy.

I'm sorry to say but i wouldn't go there either, especially as it's for a special occasion. Not dire but way too overpriced for what you get. I have loads of fine dining vouchers i'd be willing to swap for a family one. HTH

4 years ago i'd say Emirates were defo up there in the top 3. Unfortunately my past 3 flights have been poor due to the following:- Inability to raise a smile from any of the crew. Being told very sternly by a crew member NOT to stack out lunch trays on top of each other as it takes her more time to put away. Waiting 10 minutes for a coke, then walking myself to the rear of the plane only to be told by the crew eating their lunch "Can you go back to your seat please so WE can now eat". I could go on and on.... Also, My mother, father and friends have made similar comments. They pay a bit extra to fly with emirates because they feel it's a bit of a treat. Not any more. Every single 1 of them (We have a lot of visitors) have experienced poor service from crew on a flight. Everything else about Emirates is great so what has happened to the crew? Manners, being helpful and smiling costs nothing. If they could get this right i'm pretty sure they'd be hovering over the number 1 spot.

I'd take 30% off that before even considering. I'm assuming that was the 1st price they gave you Yes, I asked how much it was, he tapped some numbers into his calculator, and then said it was 485 dirhams. Was he expecting me to haggle, do you think? They always expect you to haggle. It's part of the buying process that we're supposed to enjoy. I don't personally but some people do. I'd recommend you: Act a little shocked at the 1st price and tell him straight "it's too expensive but thanks" and walk away slowly or start looking at other pieces. He'll tap again on his calc & reduce by 10%. Still too expensive, smile and walk away. He'll probably at this point ask you what you want to spend. I'd tell him straight what price you want to pay. At this point he'll either let you go or tilt his head slightly with a smile and suggest that that's impossible. The tilt mean's it's possible but keep trying. If at this point he doesn't give in to your price, walk out of the shop and sit down for a coffee. Then return to the shop. I usually now tell him that i'm leaving the country tomorrow and if he can't do the price then you won't buy. Compliment his gold and tell him you really like it but your on a budget. If he doesn't give in at this point then i'd try another shop. Love it, you clearly have the layout of the land. Now please can you call Du on my behalf and tell them they have overcharged me and I have paid extra for the last two months. I have done everything humanely possible, but no dice so far... You have to be kidding! I still have a complaint pending with Du. I wanted a wifi connection that would last me 1 month in my new home, told them i didn't want any problems in that month so paid for the maximum data package. Of course, after 4 days it asked me to top up. I called du & they told me that the sales assistant in the shop when registering chose the 2GB option instead of full data package (i have all papers showing what i paid and that the full data package box was ticked. Apparently nothing they could do! I would have to top up to continue using interenet. Useless and totally unprofessional in the way they have handled me as a client. I have a lot of patience and always give them a chance to put problems right but this was really something else. STILL waiting for a call back from Customer Care and it's been 3 weeks! edited by Mollydxb on 15/07/2012 edited by Mollydxb on 15/07/2012

Just been to Dolphinarium then into childrens city and had a blast with the kids at creek park. So cheap with the entertainer and loads to do. They can have a camel ride also for around 10dirhams (i think) just outside. Enjoy if you go because we did.

I wanted to buy an engraved bracelet for a baby. I found one in Manish, in the Gold & Diamond Souk. It is tiny with very small, delicate links and a small plaque (It's for a newborn). It has a tiny enamel moon and star. The cost... 485 dirhams. Is this a lot? I don't really wear jewelry, so have no idea, but the amount of gold in this tiny little thing... you can hardly feel it in your hand when you hold it. I don't normally question prices, but this seems excessive, but then again, I don't really know. Oh, and the price for silver... 450 dirhams. I'd take 30% off that before even considering. I'm assuming that was the 1st price they gave you

I lived in an apartment in Al warqa and enjoyed my time there. It was very peaceful with plenty of shops close by. Mirdif City Centre had just opened when we moved but we still venture down there as it's a great mall. Used to take just 15 mins to Dubai Mall which was handy. Ideal location for the schools! We didn't have kids when we lived there so can't comment on that side of it but I can't imagine the area not being child friendly. I used to spend a lot of time in the french bakery! Good job i moved really

The best thing i've found for this is to go to a hotel who serve a buffet breakfast. That way there is a huge choice. Or write down on a piece of paper and give to chef No Wheat No Egg No Gluten You'll be surprised how many places suddenly understand you

We did it a couple of months ago and to be honest weren't very impressed. While the food was quite good, we thought it was over-priced for what it was and there are much nicer places that aren't as expensive. The service was also pretty poor, we had to keep looking for a waiter to get drinks and some basic drinks like water and beer weren't included in the package price! We all agreed that we wouldn't go again. Really appreciate this. I think i'll stick to just dinner there then

It's a very easy process, however for UK nationals please bear in mind that if you had any surgery in the UK between 1980 and 1996 (I think) you will not be able to donate as MCD was about. I'm not sure if the same rules apply to Europeans, but it may be worth ringing and checking before making the trip. A UK friend who is O negative went and because of a minor surgery in 1987 she is unable to donate. Isn't that only if they had a blood transfusion from 1980 onwards? DH had a minor op but didn't need a blood transfusion Just checked with my friend and it is any surgery. She had her appendix out in 1987 and the sister confirmed to her this morning she can not donate blood. At no point did she have a blood transfusion. My friend only went as she is O negative and as it's a rarer blood group thought she would do a good turn despite her fear of needles My husband gave blood every 6 months in the UK for years and it was fine. I wonder why it's different over here then. Such a shame as that little baby needs it. I think he's going anyway just to check. Thanks

I pay around 8% deposit and am fine with it but only because i'm dealing with Arenco (who have been excellent from the start by the way) I wouldn't like to hand any more than 5% over to a private landlord or an estate agent who doesn't seem to have any proper policies or procedures.

just been through the etisalat pain as moved to a villa where they are the only provider. took them THREE weeks to connect our internet. the only solution is to actually go into their offices. daily if necessary. Noooooo! Your kidding. DH has to go and arrange for ours to be moved over today. Any advise to move them along a bit? I was told for starters he needs the lease agreement and passport. What do you have to do to settle your old bill? Is it a quick job or do you have to wait a few days like DEWA final bill. Thanks

I got my wicker swing chair from Carrefour. It's really nice. Looks more expensive that it was and solid. DH attempts to read his book in it and falls asleep every time! They get a shipment once every so often and they sell out straight away (i was lucky for once) so you'll need to go and ask them, maybe order it. If you want to see a pic let me know.

You can defo live a nice, comfortable life here on that! To take the pressure off a little you might want to consider tecom area rather than JBR. As long as you don't have the taste for Bolly & 5 star restaurants they'd be fine! Groceries aren't cheap but you shop around and you manage. Kitting out a place doesn't have to cost that much either, use dubizzle, often lots of people giving stuff away on there. Other posters are spot on with the cash upfront required. I'd advise making a list of all the items, services they need and plan, plan, plan! Use this site to ask all questions as the ladies know everything!

Molly they sell these in Sharaf DG and can usually deliver pretty quickly. there's also so AC shops at the end of Satwa road (behind Oman Trading) but i am not sure if they sell the units of just service them. we will be needing one ourselves soon so i am watching with interest. do you need me to connect you to the gardener? :) I managed to get a reconditioned one from a chap who sticks those stickers on all the doors advertising maintenance services. He is supposed to be there now doing it so i'll let you know how that went! I tackled the garden myself at 6 every morning over the weekend (enjoyed it too!) so i don't need him just yet. I've just gutted it and now need to decide what to do with it. I have a feeling the novelty of doing it myself may wear off soon. I'll be in touch

Thanks to the lovely EW ladies I have a gardener, he's outside now. He did want to charge 400 a month (the garden is pretty big, front and back) we settled on 300. Feel a bit tight as he's out there now and it's scorching.... Let me know how you get on with him as I will need some work doing soon. We move in on Thursday and the garden is a bit overgrown so needs tidying. Will need some old grass digging up too. This is of course if he has time. No problem. He seems absolutely lovely, we saw a few people. You're moving to satwa? :) Well we're already there but moving from apartment to villa for a garden so want it to look nice. :)
