My mum in law and sister in law swear by Miele dishwashers, I personally don't have one but my next purchase once my current 6 year old Dishwasher falls apart -will be a Miele, expensive yes but worth it apparently Agree.

Thank you everyone so much for advice and for those great links RuthM. Will wait and see what announcements there are today. Will the new laptops be on display somewhere soon? Mrsb - it's for taking into classes, homework, when away etc. Have an iMac at home. Think I'd go and look at some - are there Apple stores in Dubai?

Thanks very much singingcanary. Yes, iMac is working great and still quite new so that's a really good point. If the price difference isn't much, do you think it would be better to order from UAE Apple store for warranty reasons - not sure if they offer worldwide warranty or just warranty for the UAE region?

We have been treated by different therapists at Osteopathic Health Centre for various issues and they've all been excellent - however not for post-natal though. They offer ante-natal care so perhaps give them a call and see if they can help? Branches in Umm Suqiem, Uptown Mirdif and Health Care City. http://www.osteopathydubai.com/ante-natal-care http://www.osteopathydubai.com/ohc-team

I'd be more concerned with the agricultural side of things i.e. wooden articles etc. When we left Australia many years ago to move to Dubai, my small daughter brought with her a tiny heart shaped rafia jewellery box. We moved to Singapore years later and it came along again. From there we moved back to Oz and would you believe out a full 40ft container of household goods including lots of bamboo furniture etc, AQIS decided this jewellery box was the ONLY item of concern - said they could treat it and return it or they could destroy it at a cost of $60...chose the latter. Sensed they had to find something to generate a few $$ from. Very particular about these items. Plus, check that your trainers and shoes are dirt free - a friend thought she was really thorough but had to pay to have all their trainers fumigated.

Bring your furniture. Its not cheap here and the cheap ones fall apart very quickly. Totally agree. Also, it would save on storage costs if you leave your furniture at home, and avoids unnecessary expense to replace the things you have in storage. And it would help you and your little ones settle a tad better to be surrounded by familiar things. All the best with the move.

Just in case you did drop it in the taxi, do you by any chance know the taxi company and reg number (from a receipt)? Even if you can only remember the taxi company you can phone them and report the loss and give them the approximate pick up time/area and drop off time/area. If you don't know which taxi company, phone RTA 8 0 0 9 0 9 0 and they can despatch the message to all taxi companies. I'm not familiar with that area but would the Bahar building have a security office that you can report the loss to? Some areas also have CCTV cameras. Good luck - hope your purse turns up.

It does depend on your budget and what you want your camera to do. Most of my friends and I when we changed to digital so many years ago invested in an entry level DSLR that allowed us to use different lens (sports, portrait, all in one etc) that catered to taking photos of our little ones who are now not so little at concerts, sports competitions, family pics etc. Most of us have stayed with the same camera. Some bought Nikon but most of us bought a series made by Canon - between the whole lot of us we have the 450D, 500D, 550D and the 600D (updated models). The choices are huge and it takes a lot of research to find the right one - good luck.

Thanks TDB - very reasonable pricing. Will definitely have a look. Di@DXB - our current mattress is Sealy Posturepedics. Had it for about 14-15 years and it's still in great condition (we turn it every month) - we've been really happy with it. Where did you seen them in Dubai? We are looking for a new bed for our teenage son.

Thank you all. I hear Debenhams has a 50% sale on at the moment, wouldn't it be great if the applied to their beds or mattresses as well?! Thanks TDB - had a look at the everrest.ae website, looks very promising - do you mind me asking what type of pricing for mattresses?

Hi, I hope these links work, there are quite a few if you do a search. When I started looking for an endocrinologist, Dr Iyad and Dr Amel El Tayeb seem to get mentioned quite a lot. Apparently both have waiting lists. If Dr Iyad has been recommended to you and you are keen to see him, it is still worthwhile to waitlist for specific days and times. Perhaps phone both and see which one comes up with an appointment first? Good luck. http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic191458-thyroid-doctor--dr-amel-el-tayeb-diabetes-and-endocrine-center-healthcare-city-or-dr-iyad-ksseir-city-hospitall.aspx http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic197920-recommendation-for-an-excellent-endocrinologist-i-know-done-1mil-time.aspx
