Thanks for all your great advice and comments. I've been going to different supermarkets to get bits and pieces. Think I'm on the right track then - I have been buying organic chicken from the Organic Shop, grass fed Irish beef and/or NZ beef, NZ lamb. Then I saw the French free range chicken at Spinneys and thought wouldn't it be great if I can buy everything I need from the ONE supermarket!? Eggs, sounds like I need to change from the French organic eggs to Greenheart. What about fish ladies, what and where do you recommend?

Yes we use it, but you obviously need a VPN to connect to either US or UK servers for it to work. Lately we can connect to UK Netflix as well as US. We don't have a US credit card and just use a UAE one to pay the monthly fee. Netflix is on our Apple TV which connects to a hardwired VPN router. Hi. where would you buy a hardwired VPN router? Thanks.

Hi. Can anyone please help? I can't print documents - printer status is "offline". In the past I can right click and select "online" but when I do that I get "offline offline". Have switched printer and PC on/off and still "offline". Hope this makes sense. TIA has it run out of ink, as then it would stop Thanks but no, all cartridges are near full (sadly)

Did you go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers and check the status there? Right click and see. It may have switched to offline. HP does things like that I find. Hi. Thanks. Yes I did and it has switched to offline but how do you get it to return to online? Try 'refresh' or set to default printer. You may need to restart your computer too. HP's are so fussy. Tried that too but still reading "offline". :((

having had a very troublesome HP printer until recently, I would: 1) switch off your computer 2) unplug the printer completely from the power supply 3) leave for a minute or two 4) replug your printer in and switch it back on then 5) switch your computer back on (with the printer already plugged into it if it is hardwired) This was one of the methods that sometimes (not always) worked for me when my HP was playing silly wotsits! Thanks, will try this (have to work my way through an avalance of cables!). Am thinking of replacing this HP printer and would love recommendations - which one do you now have? Sorry, messed up my reply to this - tried turning both on/off but it's still showing "offline"

ours died completely recently and on recommendation of a friend and asking on EW we bought an [b'>Epson Office BX320FW [/b'>- we've had it 2 weeks and so far it's fantastic. The WiFi connection works (HP kept deciding randomly it didn't do WiFi), the scanners brilliant (HP used to decide randomly it didn't recognise our computer) and then finally after putting in new cartridges the HP decided to die a death. Good riddance! Good heavens, sounds like you're describing mine! My printer is currently one of those all-in-ones but the scanner has been really moody so I've stopped using that feature. I've been thinking that I need to buy two things - a printer and a dedicated scanner. But your Epson sounds like it will do the job instead! Where did you buy it?

Not very technically minded so here goes. On the odd occasion when the documents are not printing, I check the printer status. I go to Control Panel, then Printers, then the printer icon appears. When working properly, there is usually a green tick and the word "online" to say the printer is ready to print. When it's playing up, the word "offline" is there instead, and the tick has either become a cross or muted (can't exactly remember which). However, this time, when I right click there on the printer icon, there is no option to go "online". All I get is "offline offline" twice. How do you search for a new device? Or updating the driver? Sorry, bit slow on the technical side.

It was very nice :) I hve no idea what time DH will get home so when I served mine and the kid's meals I just turned it down to "Warm" and it will keep at serving temperature without cooking any more until he gets home. There are some meals that can be cooked with frozen ingredients. I want to try and find a few and prep all the ingredients in advance and freeze them. Then, when we're out for the day I won't have to worry about cooking when I get home; I can just throw the frozen ingredients in the cooker before we get out and have dinner done when we get home :) Sounds fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Sanddy_Dogg for the different sizes. Did you notice if the Crock Pot and Lakeland's own brand have similar features? Just reading lydiver11's comments about her Kenwood not having a timer and having to watch over the cooking, burning her first few attempts.

The fish look amazing, bread is also nice. But DH's colleagues got lunch from their last week and the chicken his sandwich was raw in parts so be careful. Parking is a disaster on that street but you should find somewhere to abandon your car. Thanks Jenc123.

Mom, Lakeland at Mirdiff had several makes, including their own yesterday! Also wanted to add, look at rice cookers too, mine has a slow cooker option and will cook for up to 4 hours then keep hot for 12 hrs! edited by NannyMcphee on 02/09/2012 Thanks Nanny Mcphee, and for the tip re rice cooker too!

I usually half fill muffin tin and then add about 4 blueberries (depending on size), top with more muffin mix. You have to work quickly so that the berries do not lose too much colour into the mix, I have tried stirring them through the mix but found they lose too much colour and the muffins look grey, raspberries also work well frozen, same process as above. Sounds good too, thank you!

I use frozen berries for my raspberry and white chocolate muffins. I mix all the ingredients and at the end gently stir through the frozen raspberries. Works perfectly. Thanks TimTam!

Emirates Trading is on Zaabeel Rd, the road which takes you to Al Maktoum Bridge. Just follow signs for Al Maktoum Bridge, take a right right after the brown sign for Lamcy Plaza. Its on the ground floor of a green-glass fronted building. There is paid parking in front and a huge (paid) parking lot behind the building. Thanks very much Apricot!

Thanks ladies. Have tried Spinneys, Park n Shop, Carrefour. Looked at baking section and pork sections. Maybe not looking thoroughly? Just wondering what packaging are they usually in? It is in all those stores, its a small white box, the make is Davis Gelatine, its usually next to the regular jelly boxes on baking section. This is what it looks like [url=http://www.google.com/imgres? q=davis+gelatine&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=598&tbm=isch&tbnid=v61Q_aDKzhWAjM:&imgrefurl=http://trolley.ae/desserts&imgurl=http://trolley.ae/image/data/products/9410251021258.jpg&w=500&h=602&ei=Cqs5UM3SIIOGhQeEtIHQDw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=585&vpy=213&dur=2668&hovh=246&hovw=205&tx=99&ty=143&sig=101143500891696588864&page=1&tbnh=119&tbnw=97&start=0&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:17,s:0,i:128'>link[/url'> Thanks so much, will look again!

no! abra = little wooden boats that take you across the creek for 1 dh (or on a private tour up and down for 100) http://ixpats.com/dubai-expats/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/dubai-2dabra.jpg water taxis - the james bond looking silver pod things that glide up and down the creek and along jumeirah shoreline. much more expensive - but also great fun! These are gret - thanks very much! http://gulfnews.com/polopoly_fs/water-taxi-1.656499!image/677817638.jpg_gen/derivatives/box_475/677817638.jpg

We wasted hours down at the Creek regarding Water Taxis and, to be honest, they are still a bit of a mystery. The best thing we have done with all our guests is to take the Ferry on a Friday morning when they swap over from the Creek to the Marina - one way journey only. Leave your car at the Heritage Village car park on a Friday morning and walk down to the Ferry dock (outside Ministry of Finance building and just up from the Abra Station). Catch the 11am Ferry to the Marina (50 dhs per passenger I think) - great views of the skyline in comfortable seats and toilets on board. At the Marina, walk back to the Metro Station (Metro starts at 1pm on a Friday so have lunch and drink on the way at one of the cafes) and take the Metro back to Deira Creek (Al Ghubaiba Station is the nearest). I am desperate for more visitors so that I can do this trip again.

I am guessing you want advice on either of these because of your medical ins? Personally, Villa Fortuny is my first choice for all things dental. Both my Ds and myself have seen Dr Nizar for orthodontic treatment. Can't recommend him highly enough. Hi lizoona, no, not for insurance but trying to find the best orthodontist - both have come highly recommended although have since heard about the bedside manner of the one at Dr M's is not the most friendly.
