Please can someone recommend me a place or a person who comes to your house to do Keratin Treatment? I used to do it in London, I literally tried every brand, the best is Inoar - please if someone knows where they can do it in Dubai/Abu Dhabi it would be great. I did one at Amro Ladies Salon and it was a disaster!!! not to mention that I paid AED 1,500! Please any suggestions are more than welcome! Thank you Amro Ladies Salon murdered my hair too :(

I have tried the Chinese Medical Center once near Mazaya Center before but that was 6 years back. Had acupuncture and it helped me ease my period problems. I just don't know if it's still there.

Indeed amongst the two, Switzerland is more expensive but it's beauty and transportation is so good. However, consider Austria as it could give you more options and if you are on the alpine trek, I would also consider the French country side.

And/Or talk to a midwife...sensible advice from someone whose seen hundered of mums :) It's international midwives day after all (i heard on the radio just now!) lovingthesun, are there midwives here who are accepting preggo women for consultation? I would love to know. Im seeing an OB but i think midwives have some rigid or raw information on technique, tips on pregnancy than OBs. That's just my impression.

Sarah Khas - thank you for this. It's good you have been able to move around now to take care of your little one. greatlifedubai - I have friends who visited her and all are good reviews. However, having an appointment with her is a nightmare, 3-4 months to book ahead. :quite:

I had Dr. Braithwaite as my previous OB. She is very good as she took care of me when I had MC on my first baby and as what I know, she's the Chief OB at AH so that alone speaks volumes on her work and experience... but since we also don't have any insurance, I need to find another doctor that's also good and affordable as we opt not to have the antenatal package in AH since I am now low-risk. I'm on my 24th week by the way and seeing another doctor at GMC.

TWG Dubai Mall has good teas (for which is served on most of the afternoon teas on the places mentioned above)...However, TWG's ambiance and setting is not good at all as it is inside a mall with distracting views of people taking pictures over the indoor fountain.

Reading this post make me feel hopeful that there could be employers who could offer such salaries to people to REALLY FIT THE DUBAI lifestyle but I also feel sad that if you are not a western expat, you just have a mediocre salary, crappy flat and neighborhood and a low end car. Thinking that in terms of talent and delivery of work many could have the same level of excellence, irregardless of race or passport nationality. Anyway, for the OP, i hope that you could settle here smoothly with your family. Dubai is a nice place, a little crazy on rents etc..but overall, you can enjoy here :)

Its ridiculous. I wish my contract covered housing rather than education... or both! There are so many developments being handed over at the end of this year 3 new ones in The Greens Around 20 in Sports City Tecom has 2 or 3 and there are a few at the Marina. It is a case of supply and demand and there soon will be huge supply therefore rents will dip slightly but I don't think we will see it until the end of the year. I have just got a new place for AED80,000, two months ago they were advertising for AED90-95000. I used to live in Marina and the prices were crazy. I now live in Sport City and i would recommend it. Its still being build up but its a nice area and quite. Motor City is 5 mins away with coffee's, restaurants, supermarkets and so on. I can give you the number of the agent that sorted my studio and you can discuss prices if you want. Good luck :) I am interested :)

Is a chiropractor ok for back ache during pregnancy? the regular maternity massages don't do well to me. Lastly if I could ask where could I find these Drs that you recommend? Appreciate your reply. Mommypie, chiropractic adjustment are perfectly safe and very good for back problems while you pregnant. i found while i was pregnant with a very big baby that my spine was being pushed all over the place and felt relieve straight after my first adjustment. getting checked out can always help you have a better natural delivery too. my friend who is 4mnths pregnant just saw him yesterday and was very happy with him. like i said i cant recommend him enough, he is super nice. they based in healthcare city near wafi, building 64, block A 04 429 8292... Hi Rosie, thank you for this feedback. My DH has some issues with male doctors checking on me but I would take my chances to argue with him to see Dr Sean as my back is killing me. I'm 5 1/2 months now and it's ridiculously hard for some reason. Really need this,. Thanks!

I highly recommend ITSOURA! They have reasonable ackages both for photo and video and is well experienced shooting intimate to big weddings here in Dubai, also overseas such as UK and asia. Pre-wedding, wedding and post wedding, they deliver great. I have friends who got married here and took them, happy with the output. Just check their website and FB page tho for portfolio. P.S. I am not working for them, nor do I know them. I just find their output very artistic and good.

Recently, i tried the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Dubai Shk Zayed, morning slot. I was alone using the place (somehow made me really relaxed)...Every staff was very accommodating, showed me around and the massage was heavenly. they give 50% off from their regular rates if your bday is within that month and facilities are wonderful. Others Spa that's also nice: Sofitel Spa The Palm, One and Only and Park Hyatt.

Park Hyatt Spa, One and Only Mirage Spa and Banyan Tree Al Wadi Rainforest experience combined with a relaxing massage for me. The latter is out of Dubai tho, located in RAK but simply the best :) Runners up would be H Hotel Mandara Spa, Talise Spa at Jumeirah, Sofitel So Spa and Armani Spa.

Hi, I have 6 tickets I am selling. They are silver standing. My kids loved 1D last year and now say they don't want to go. Grrrrrrr. are there still available tickets? It's actually for me and my Dh. lol I'm pregnant but for some reason I find this group amusing and their songs up to my baby beat inside my tummy. So I'm asking if you still have it. :)

My wedding coordinator told me that modern invites such as the electronic ones are only good for let's say save the dates but the 'feel' of a handed and traditional printed invite to guests make them personalized, make the occasion formal and classy in it's sense. Of course to each its own for this point of view. We did follow her advice tho and we are happy with it. You can tell your friend to try appycouple. It's a cool app your guests can download for free on iTunes and it's interactive. Well, it suits a couple who's tech savvy and modern tho. edited by mommypie2015 on 16/03/2015

thanks polly! somehow the reason I would want to resign is I'm being discriminated here by the bosses since I got pregnant. Despite me being one of the long standing and loyal employees here, i didn't feel they are supportive of my pregnancy. Feeling burn out i guess and stressed too.

oh, eventho i've been in the company for more than 5 years? I will still pay penalty then? If i resign, I will have 30 days notice and that's it. So it's better to wait until my contract expires?

Hi! We registered for an antenatal class for this new hospital in Dubai. Aside from it being relative cheap for their promo, they made all the necessary points in summary for about 2.5 hours that a couple needs to know. We didn't like it as it was purely lecture (which we can also read at Baby Center) and no actual way of handling things during labor, or when the baby arrives. It was only a one time class, is it really like that? Can you recommend a very good class for 1st time parents with hands on experience?

they are a hit and miss as they have each supplier which is individually giving you the goods/items. I ordered for some consumables before and it was way past the delivery schedule, turned out no supply, they didn't update me not unless I will be calling or notifying them (the supplier) 2nd time they delivered the phone on time but the box was a little ruined. I let that pass as the unit is okay and smooth delivery. 3rd time I ordered some preggo stuff and delivered wrong items. Nightmare of going back and forth to reach the supplier.

I hope your DH wasn't harmed during that accident. In any case, i have been involved with 2 accidents in the past (never got an automatic pink slip) and yes those incidents involved locals too. One is the local beat the red light and the other one tried to cut me in the highway. You could clarify or appeal on the pink slip given to your DH if it's totally not true esp. the other party fled without waiting the police to come. Remember that it's also black points to the license if you just accept that. Try to consult a legal firm if you can esp if this case is dragging your time and also if you are not able to speak in Arabic and what's written on the slip. You'll pay for an amount to do this consultation but it could save you the hassle of having an incorrect judgement. Try to check at least 1 meeting with a lawyer. Hope that you'll be able to wrap this situation as soon as possible. Hang in there.

I like to recommend W Hotel Singapore and Park Royal on Pickering (the most beautiful hotel we stayed in SG so far). We also tried the Marina Bay Sands Hotel but rooms, by Dubai standards, is so plain, however the views of the city skyline and the infinity pool is gorgeous to try. I recommend also to check the River Safari and the Gardens by the Bay show at night.

I am not encouraging gray market but there are many electronic shops in Naif and Bur Dubai selling authentic iphones from US or UK with facetime feature. It's about AED250-350 less than mall prices. They have freebies too like apps or accessories (made in china though). The only downside of this is your warranty claim or service if ever the phone goes kaput. But personally if you are staying or a resident in UAE, buy from a good store just in case something goes wrong. But then again, another consideration is most iphones don't need any service or warranty at all as it's a good phone to begin with.

I'm feeling happy just seeing this post and the replies in it. That surge of positivity is just contagious. For me, at my current state, overall that happy bubble is existing: our recent travel adventure both in EU and Asia, finally able to get preggers again (our 2nd try after an MC), even without maternity insurance, there are unexpected financial blessings coming and enjoying good health and marriage. Replying to this post makes me extra happy :) Cheers! and oh it's my birthday month too. So roll on positive vibes!

Your fussy visitor is just lucky enough that you are indeed nice and still mind how to please her, not to mention that most of the recommendations come a bit expensive too. Imagine you are setting aside a budget for her even if that could just go to your kids. But yeah, I admire you. :) I recommend the afternoon tea at Madeleine Cafe @ the Dubai Mall overlooking the old town/lake or at TWG near the fountains. Not too expensive though :) Meals - how about the Dine in the Dark (Noir) at the Fairmont? Quite fun and food is good too. edited by mommypie2015 on 02/03/2015
