There is a highway planned between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to reduce congestion. So what's the five+ lane highway that runs between Dubai and AD at the moment? Are you sure this isn't a wind-up? It was posted a little too close to April Fool's Day! guess not...check this out... http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/transport/superbus-to-slash-dubai-to-abu-dhabi-run-to-30-minutes

Are you ladies on facebook? Check this out: The Superbus was unveiled at the World Exhibition of the International Association of Public Transport in Dubai in April 2011 by Dutch astronaut Wubbo Ockels. The midnight-blue bus travels at a top speed of 250 km/h, is 15 metres long, 2.5 metres wide and 1.65 metres high and has eight gullwing-style doors on each side. Being able to race – legally – between the twin metropolises on the road at 200 km/h captured something. A fantasy made real and seemingly built to inspire the UAE. There is a highway planned between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to reduce congestion. This highway could integrate a special high-speed lane to accomodate the 250 kph Superbus, which would cut down the commute to 30 minutes for businessmen willing to pay, while also dropping them off at designated bus stops around the cities. Photos are on this facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150290350706565.382375.268747221564

presumbly only because mum was in front seat though, or do children in the back need carseats in Dubai? Good question, as I am coming in with 7 year old twins, do I need my booster seats in Dubai?

BTW I am not anti-bra, I do wear it when going out, but not at home and not to sleep. that's what works for me....but I'm enjoying the research, learning a lot! Here's one more: Breast Cancer and Wearing Bras to Bed According to The American Cancer Society, American Breast Cancer Society, and BreastCancer.org,(see reference links at the bottom of the page), wearing a bra, at day, night or both, will not give you breast cancer, although they have no scientific research to support their claim. In fact, there has not been any research to date that refutes the link between breast cancer and bras, and these organizations have shown no interest in pursuing this needed research. However, a Harvard study in 1991 did show bra-free women had a lower rate of breast cancer than bra wearing women. And a medical anthropological study published in 1995 suggested bras are the leading cause of breast cancer. The proposed method for bras causing breast cancer (the build up of "toxins" due to constriction) has been called impluasible by the American Cancer Society, although many health care practitioners find it highly plausible. In fact, cancer and lymphatic experts advise women not to wear tight bras because it can impair lymphatic drainage from the arms and chest and cause lymphedema. Some other factors that increase your risk of breast cancer are: ***: Women are much more likely to get breast cancer than men. Age: the chances of getting breast cancer increase with age, especially after 65. Race: After age 35, White women are more likely to get breast cancer than Black women, but Black women who get breast cancer are more likely to die from it. Family history: certain inherited genetic mutations (BRCA1 and/or BRCA2) increase the risk. Even without those genes, having a grandmother, mother, sister, or daughter diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer also increases the risk. A woman who has previously had breast, ovarian, endometrial, or colon cancer is more likely to get breast cancer. A woman who has had LCIS or certain other breast conditions such as atypical hyperplasia is more likely to get breast cancer. High levels of radiation to the chest area (for treatment of lymphoma, for example) can increase the risk. High bone density levels after menopause can increase the risk. Pregnancy and breastfeeding history: never having children, having a first pregnancy after age 30, and never breastfeeding each increases the risk. Menstrual history: Beginning menstruation at age 12 or younger, and/or having menopause after age 55 increases the risk of breast cancer. Postmenopausal obesity increases the risk. History of hormone use, including contraceptives and menopausal hormone replacement increases the risk. Alcohol consumption: women who drink an average of only 1 alcoholic drink per day increase their risk of breast cancer by approximately 7%. Physical inactivity increases risk. Exposure to tobacco smoke increases breast cancer risk.

the breast tissue is made of fat and blood vessels and tissue - there are no muscles in the breast - the weight of a breast will stretch the pectoral muscle which supports the breast tissue - not wearing the correct size bra or not waering a bra at all will stretch the pectoral tissue. wearing a bra at night has no proven effect of saving the breast sagging and to be honest I would always recommend against it (I was a buyer and lingerie fitter in the uk for 11 years ) but wearing a bra at night will not contribute to you getting breast cancer if your uncomfortable at night try expressing before bedtime x edited by bowbellscowbells on 24/06/2011 Found another article.... Bras and Breast Cancer by Ralph L. Reed, Ph.D. Although I am an environmental chemist (Ph.D in biochemistry), I have been doing a lot of literature research on breast cancer since I saw an article on the National Library of Medicine database over a year ago. That article documented an increase in breast cancer rates between women who do wear bras versus those that do not. That Harvard study fascinated me and I searched the medical literature for possible explanations. In January 1996, I discovered the book by Singer and Grismaijer and their explanation of impaired lymphatic flow intrigued me. I have since read everything that I can find on lymphatic flow. What I have found has amazed me, but that is another story. I can supply you with lots of info if you like. In essence, what Singer and Grismaijer found was that the odds of getting breast cancer dramatically increased with bra-wearing over 12 hours per day. Women who wore their bras 24 hours per day had a 3 out of 4 chance of developing breast cancer (in their study, n=2056 for the cancer group and n=2674 for the standard group). Women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day but not to bed had a 1 out of 7 risk. Women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day had a 1 out of 152 risk. Women who wore bras rarely or never had a 1 out of 168 chance of getting breast cancer. The overall difference between 24 hour wearing and not at all was a 125-fold difference. The results of this study are compelling, even considering that it was not a "controlled study" for other risk factors. Bear in mind that known (published in medical journals) risk factors for breast cancer are mostly in the range of less than three-fold differences. It should also be noted that Singer and Grismaijer surveyed bra-wearing behavior of the past, which is excellent for a disease with such a long development period. In their book, the authors show how most of the known risk factors can be related to bra-wearing behavior and/or the lymphatic system. For example, breast feeding and pregnancy cause full development of the mammary lymphatics. Also, women of higher economic status have higher breast cancer rates, and one would expect that they would wear their bras more hours per day. Women who excercise have lower risk, which could relate to better lymphatic circulation (and I would add, more breast movement). To this discussion, I would like to add that lymphatic circulation in many tissues (especially the primary lymphatics) are highly dependent on MOVEMENT. When you sit for a long time on an airplane flight, your feet and ankles can swell, because lymphatic circulation goes to near zero. Wearing a bra, especially a constricting one with underwires, and especially to bed, prevents normal lymphatic flow and would likely lead to anoxia (lower than normal oxygen content), which has been related to fibrosis, which has been linked to increased cancer risk. Women evolved under conditions where there was BREAST MOVEMENT with every step that they took when they walked or ran. My reading of the scientific literature about lymphatic flow shows me that this may be as important as the constriction factor. Every subtle bounce of the breast while moving, walking, running, etc. gently massages the breast and increases lymphatic flow and thus cleans the breast of toxins and wastes that arise from cellular metabolism. Of course, there may be other mechanisms for the damage that bras apparently cause. One such mechanism could be temperature. Breasts are external organs and have a naturally lower temperature. Cancers can be temperature-dependent. Breast cancer is hormone-dependent. Temperature can alter hormone function. Breast temperature changes throughout the monthly cycle. All these facts are from the medical literature. By whatever mechanism, someone will eventually explain why Singer and Grismaijer found a 125-fold difference in cancer rates between bra-free breasts and those constricted by 24-hour-per-day bra-wearing. If you haven't already done so, I suggest that you read the book by Singer and Grismaijer ( Dressed to Kill,Avery Press, 1995). (By the way, I have no connection to the authors; I think that they live in Canada.) Also, just for an interesting experiment, the next time you walk down the street, notice visually how constricting bras are. On many women you can actually see "dents" around the sides of their chests where there bras are, even in something as opaque as a black t-shirt. A physical therapist friend of mine, after reading Dressed to Kill, said that she was amazed at what she saw in her practice at a local medical clinic. She noticed how many women have red creases and grooves on the their bodies caused by their bras. Singer and Grismajer also suggest that you simply stop wearing one for two weeks and see how you feel. By the way, I have heard that they are currently working on a new study. The research is to study whether benign fibrocystic breast disease can be treated by stopping bra-wearing for eight weeks. That should be very interesting; this time they are involving medical doctors, from what I've heard. Years ago, many people thought that the idea of cigarettes causing lung cancer was funny. Even if further research with highly controlled studies only shows a difference of 5-fold, or even 2-fold, it will be no laughing matter. The author, Ralph L. Reed, Ph.D. can be reached at [email protected]

IKEA - 1 hr free supervised play and 1dhs ice creams! I think the OP wants to spend her weekend with her kids and not dump them off on someone else tbh. What has happened to family values here? I hardly ever see parents with their kids anymore taking the lead. I always see the maid using the buggies! It's always some poor educated maid that is being paid peanuts. You had your kids, you bring them up (and that's a general comment not saying you don't bring your kids up if you use supervised play centres in Ikea while you SHOP) *LIKE*

Bottom freezer is great, just make sure you get one that has a door alarm (if you have little ones) because the handle is right at their height and soon enough they learn to pull the darn thing open...at least with an alarm it tells you it was left open! Also make sure you check for freezer space as they change based on brand/model.

OH! and make sure you buy pre-mixed grout FOR FLOORS. Then you might need to buy a sealant also, after its done, you apply over the new grout to seal it ( it's just a liquid that you wipe over tiles - as easy as mopping the floor). The sealant waterproofs the grout and it wont get dirty as easy.

Very easy! Score the grouts (this is not supposed to be a loooong process, you are not completely removing the old grout but scoring it so the new grout can bind better) vacuum to remove dust created by scoring Wipe tiles with a damp cloth or sponge Apply the new grout on damp floor in 45 degree angles with a sponge trowel WAIT NO LONGER THAN 10 MINUTES Wipe the residue off gently with a wet sponge, wash it frequently Let it set for a day wipe completely to remove haze easy peasy :) Here's a video that explains in detail: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DytsjSHlCWU

Hi there! I am also a mom of twins, have a boy and a girl, arriving in July...if you wish to stay in touch and maybe schedule a playdate sometime to get the kiddos busy, gimme a shout, we are in Arabian Ranches, Palmera 4. My twins are 7. I can give you more details when I get there, when do you arrive? Cheers MoT Hi, I have been trawling a few forums but not come across dubailand until now. Can any of you wonderfully informed/experienced lovelies shed some light for me please...location is good for work. We have 4yr old twins a nearly 2 yo & a 2 mth old & will be joining DH(starts end july) Nov/Dec this yr. Would Dubai land be a suitable area for our young brood? Not sure if we will get the 4yr olds into a school due to crazy waitlists & fine if we dont but any info on decent schools that may be an option would be much appreciated as their schooling allowance is pretty good and would be a shame to waste. Ps. I also understand we are supposed to find a school first but am happy to keep them hm as although ready they wouldnt start for anothr yr here in aust TIA

Meat Co at Madinat Jumeirah Ring up to book a table very recently, with visitors from UK who don't like the heat at the min! Me: Do you have any tables available for this evening please? Meat Co: Yes ma'am, but only outside is available, is that ok? Me: Let me just check, we really would prefer inside Meat Co: But only outside is available ma'am. Me: *checks round everyone to make sure* Yes that's ok, we'll cope with outside MEat Co: So that's a table for 4, confirmed for this evening, and outside is ok? Me: Well, we'd have preferred inside, but never mind, we'll be fine Meat Co: But ma'am, we have inside also available if you'd prefer Same week, at a place somewhere on JBR (can't remember where). 2 paellas on menu - one seafood, one meat Me: Please can you tell me what's in the meat paella? Waiter: Rice, vegetables, and meat Me: So definitely no seafood? I'm allergic to it and cannot eat it. Watier: No seafood in meat one, only in seafood one. Me: Please can I order the meat paella then. Food arrives, great big jumbo prawn on the top Me: Excuse me, you confirmed there was no seafood in this, and there are prawns in it Waiter: yes ma'am. Me: But that's seafood. Watier: No, its not seafood, its prawns. Me: Prawns are seafood though Waiter: No ma'am, they is prawns. I sent it back and got a steak instead, and got charged for the paella. Boss came out and had the same argument that prawns are not seafood and are meat. Do they swim on land then?! They could have been freshwater prawns....( not joking!) But it's funny how things get twisted around from what you ask....I am so worried, my son has an enzyme deficiency and cannot eat any legumes ( anything that grows in a pod: peas,beans,peanuts..) I am afraid to take him to restaurants!!!!!!!

Just wanted to bring up that you should maybe ask your doctor to check if you and especially the males who are going have G6PD Deficiency, it s an enzyme deficiency. With that deficiency you cannot take the anti-malarials as well as you cannot take many other medications (they cause jaundice and potentially hemolysis). My son has it. Research on www.g6pd.org and www.g6pddeficiency.org. better safe then sorry, it's a simple blood test to check your enzyme levels.

Hello ladies, I could barely sleep last night thinking about this, it's so helpful having so much feedback, thank you so much!!! What I did understand I had to do was to get the government paper and get it signed by their vet and that would be it. Maybe this guy has no clue......and now he got me stressed out!!!!! We do have a company dealing with the export but they are in Mississauga and by the time I got home and got the voicemail, there was no time to call them, so it will have to wait til Monday..... Emailed hubby last night and he said he had talked to them about that and there is no need for it to go to Ottawa. So who should I go with? Marycatherine, I am dealing with the inspections dept in Halifax, do you think I should try Kentville? Thank you all so much.... <em>edited by MomOfTwins on 17/06/2011</em>

Hello ladies....a few weeks left and I am panicking. Just got a voicemail from the government vet from the Cdn. Insp. Agency who supposedly had to sign my 2 cat's health certificate.( I left him a voicemail to make an appointment - took him 3 days to call me back!) He said in the voicemail that the process to approve the health certificate is "rather complicated" (I almost fainted) and that once signed, the certificate had to be sent to Ottawa, then to Dubai, then back to Nova Scotia, where I am.... OMG! I have no time for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any mail takes 2 weeks to get to Dubai alone, even on express mail!!!!! One week to Ottawa!!!! I thought I just needed his signature!!!!! Is this the correct process???? Whats the fastest GUARANTEED way to mail something to Dubai??????? HELP HELP HELP!!!!!! Thank you immensely

Got this online, hope it helps: When you press FN the keys at function keys at the top of the keyboard change their function. Look over it to see if there is a little lightly colored icon that looks like a touchpad. Press that while holding the FN button. That button (the function key at the top of the keyboard) is an internal pointing device disable. That means that it makes your touchpad stop working. (my laptop is on fn +f9)

Looking now for a book for my son as he will want to make something a little more boyish. http://curiousgeorgestore.blogspot.com/2009/08/what-rachel-wants-to-buy-this-week.html Also my daughter has a Tag reader. You can use it with a headphone, but you also need to carry the books with you - they are not too thick, easy peasy to carry. http://www.leapfrog.com/tag/
