Pros - The villas are quite nice and modern. There's a lovely community centre with huge pool, gym, etc. Cons - really tiny gardens which are overlooked from many sides. Compound feels very stark as no greenery - just row after row of white concrete houses. Some issues with toilets and flushing problems :(

What I can't understand is this - you're saying that you have dhs2000-dhs2500 for yourself each month, which isn't too bad. However you also said that with a new baby it's hard to budget this money. Are you spending this money just on yourself or do you also have to use this money for the baby's needs? It will make a huge difference. Also I don't agree that you should be using your allowance to buy presents to take back home. Your pocket money or allowance or whatever you choose to call it should be spent ENTIRELY ON YOURSELF.

Best of luck with your decision. May I ask why you're finding it so difficult to settle back in the UK? Right now DH and I would give anything to relocate to the UK.

Keep in mind that for expat kids a Dubai driving licence is only temporary. DS got his driving licence here only to lose it a year later when he left Dubai for uni and his visa expired. Until you're 21 they will only give you a licence valid for a year which they renew yearly AS LONG as you have a residence visa. If I had known I wouldn't have spent all that money.

Malta is lovely and so is Gozo. I would definitely suggest a day trip to Gozo if you visit Malta. And if you want to eat the best pasta ever go to Ta Karolina in Xlendi, Gozo. This time of the year will be great as the weather would have cooled down. It would still be great for swimming though and the beaches there are beautiful.

What I read was that the laser destroys the mole and so you can't have it tested to check if it's harmless or not. The doctor never mentioned this, so either his laser is different or he's just after making a quick buck (and he's known for this).

By the way, why I am thumbed down? For munching food? Or for feeling depressed or trying to relax? Some people are really nasty  Lol - I was wondering about that too. Even I got thumbed down with the advice I gave - makes you wonder....

Sorry you are feeling this way. As someone who suffers from on and off mild depression, this is what helps - 1- diet - please stop munching on rubbish - it will only make you feel worse. Make sure you eat protein and some veg or fruit at every meal. 2 - exercise - minimum of 30 minutes moderate to vigorous exercise a week 3 - social connection - this is really important - call or meet up with someone regularly 4 - consider supplements - start off with a B complex, omega 3 and magnesium and see how it goes (read The Mood Cure for more info on supplementation) 5 - start a gratitude journal - every day write down a few things which you are thankful for 6 - a good night's sleep 7 - other things which help me - music, being outdoors, brisk walk on the beach Good luck :-) edited by Monnie on 30/11/2014

I have heard Montexa in Satwa is great, its a british lady, but I have not used her so can't give a personal recommendation. I have used Dream Girls, Coventry, City Tailors and Tatiana and have been disappointed with all of them. I tried Montexa but they're fully booked till July:(

how on earth do you survive on 500 cals aday? i would love to give this a bash but think I would seriously faint im battling with 1200 aday I really get where you're coming from because I really couldn't see myself sticking to just 500cal a day as I'm a really big eater. The funny thing is that it's not as difficult as I thought. The fact that you know that the next day you can eat normally again really helps. If you choose your 500 cals wisely, drink lots of water and keep yourself busy you'll be fine. Actually you'll be more than fine - you'd be amazed at how in control of food you'll become. And then once you start losing weight, you'll be even more motivated to keep on going. I lost 3 kgs and 2 inches off my waist in 10 days. And as soon as you stop the diet the weight comes back on. And by the way, thanks for pissing on my parade!

It depends on what you eat afterwards. Whichever way you choose to lose weight, the hardest part is keeping it off longterm. Unless you change your eating habits, you will obviously put on weight again.

I'm in too. I'm on my 4th fast today. I try to fast on Sundays and Wednesdays. As some of the others said, for me it works better if I stay as long as possible without eating. I then eat at around 2 ish and graze till the end of the day. I also try to have an early night. Drinking water and fruit teas help as does getting out of the house. I find I fare better when I eat soup.

Never tried Ted Morgan but I go to Juan Salon and I don't recommend him. The only reason I'm still going is that I paid for a year's package upfront. Initially I was happy with them but lately every haircut and every blow dry have been a disappointment. I also tried highlights and the colour was too brassy even though I showed him a picture of caramel highlights.

Try some borax mixed with either peanut butter or jam. Leave it on a couple of lids or something, and let the ants take it to the nesting place. Should get rid of ants in a few days.

Does anyone know if this salon is still open? I've been trying to call them to book an appointment for 2 days now and no one's picking up the phone.. If they still have a branch in Garhoud? Perhaps call there and ask Great idea - I called them up and yep - the branch in GC has closed down :(

For a 4 bedroomed bungalow we pay a fixed charge of dhs800 whether we use it or not then if you do use it you have to add the consumption which varies fron dhs200 - dhs 1200 depending on usage.

You probably got away with it. Don't worry it is a huge junction and a bit confusing as to where to go. Regular EWs will know my history of car penalties so all I will say is don't worry, there are far worse crimes :) Really?? Did you ever get black points? How do those work? Do you get them on the car or on the licence (not that it makes much difference I guess).
