Hi ladies, Shipping stuff over from the UK seems to be an expensive affair as our allowance is only about 1000£ for the family. The rest of it has to come from our own pocket.I was wondering what was your allowance and did you have to fork out the balance yourselves..???? Also if anyone can recommend companies apart from Simpsons and GB liners. Is it better to do door to door or should we do it till port..what are your suggestions ? thank you in advance.. X

Thank you chizz. We have quotes and it all varies from company to company. We've been quoted £1500 -£ 2800 for 360 cu feet by three different companies. I just wanted to know from other members if that was a fair quote or being ripped off and also their experience (preferably good ones) so I can make the right choice. x

Thank you all for your replies. Not much help with the agents answers as they are waiting for a definitive reply from the employer.. It's just a game of waiting but really frustrating when you have kids to consider- their schooling Etc.. And can't do or decide much until those visas arrive.. xx :(

Or taking to be issued? It's been 5 months since my husband signed his offer letter. I was wondering if it is the norm out there in Qatar for it to take this long or is this a one off. Has anyone been in a similar situation and what was the reason?? We are from the UK.(TIA).xxx edited by Motheroffive on 11/09/2012

Hello Tilgate , I did speak to the school mentioned and they DO need the letter which we dont have at the moment. They have the completed applications and all but say they can't process them until we get the letter.:( #ChardFan-Thank you for finding out details about sherborne .The reason I did not choose Sherborne ( even though I have heard good things about it) is it is relatively new and the tuition fees. Our allowance per child is 21000 but we are willing to go upto 35000(excess from our pockets) .If push gets to shove then probably we will consider Sherborne, who knows..:) Thank you to all once again. After a stressful 4 weeks of looking for spaces in schools and having sleepless nights,I have left it to God now..if it is meant to be then it will happen. xx

Hello all, Thank you for all your answers. #chocfish# we have accepted the offer,it's just the schooling to sort out.I spoke to one school today and they say we do need to send them the company letter and then only can they process the application form to go on the waiting list. Anyways,if it is meant to be,it will happen even though am already fed up with all this hassle. #chardfan# my boys are 10 and 8. Will look up sherbourne even though it's not my top 3. Thanks.. xx * called all the HR depts today and didn't get through to even one!!!!!!:( edited by Motheroffive on 22/05/2012

Thank you Malaz .My husband has "accommodation provided" on his offer letter.I was curious to find out whether it would be furnished/unfurnished and if villa / apartment .we have five kids and was thinking of bringing over some new furniture that we recently bought ie: chest of drawers.? What did you mean by check with the housing constantly , is that now or once we are there?thank you again.
