Practically everything is available in Dubai to kit out a house. Agree that you should take some photos, toys, Ipad. Which area will you be moving to? We live in Motor City which is very nice and suitable for families with children. If you need a wooden TV unit and matching bookcase, I am selling these and was about to advertise on here. Let me know if you would like me to email me the pics.

Thank you. Do I wait until the 30 days is up first? or can I do this at the airport when I come in? Am trying to work out how to book my return flight. Do I assume it would be ok and book for say, 6 weeks, or do I stick to the 30 days?

Thank you all. Your comments are fair and never thought that it could be a risk to others. Trouble is, we cannot find anywhere to repair this anywhere.

Sorry to bother you all, but is there anyone coming to the UK fairly soon who can bring over a hard drive for repair. The documents on the hard drive are urgently needed and this can be done int he UK far quicker than where my DH is working at the moment which is Doha. He comes home to Dubai every weekend. So anyone leaving for UK from either Dubai or Doha, please can you get in touch. Help would be much appreciated, thank you.

marycatherine, thank you very much. You obviously know someone who is or have worked at this company. Its hard to make a decision as, the company he is currently working for are good and look after their staff. Problem will be when DH finishes his current assignment located in Qatar, will they find him something else, and where may that be? So he is happy where he is but is trying to find something else for when this project ends, especially if there is no other assignment for him to go to.

My friends's DH is British and she is Japanese with a Japanese passport. She is wanting to have her second baby in the UK. Will she have to do this privately or under the NHS? She needs to make a decision and either have the baby in Dubai or UK.

Happ1: Thank you so much. I have been sitting here waiting for someone to respond to my post. Think he will need an extraction and needs to see a good dentist tomorrow latest. He is new to Doha and isnt aware of anything like this. It is so important to go to a dentist/doc on recommendation as you will know. Am sure your husband is working hard, they all do as they have to earn every penny! Thats why you cannot afford to have toothache and be off work. Will look for your response and thank you very much. Please also find out about costs as this is important.

Have asked this question before but have now found out the information from Al Rostamani. The maximum per day by your card is only AED 18000. There is a 3% charge on top and we charge AED 45 for sending money to UK. (Please bring your original Passport for the transaction). The 3% charge is what I wasnt expecting and wonder whether this is a new rule.

Please note that the increase of 50K was only as an approximate figure, not actual. No, she is not part of the greedy clan and neither does she want to do anything outside of the UAE law, that is why she is wondering what would be acceptable. She knows and has been told by the real estate guys that rents have increased in this area - but she doesnt know what is legally acceptable when it comes to renewing the contract.

Ive done this from London to Dubai and, as long as your total luggage is 20kgs, there is no charge. I took a bike in a bike case. However, I dont know the rules for Flydubai.

We live in Dubai and DH has just been offered a job where he remains based in Dubai but travels to Doha weekly. He will leave Doha on Thursday evening and return to Doha on Saturday night. By the way, his job is working in Doha airport. What is the easiest way for him to arrange his weekly return flights please? His job is demanding so looking for the best way round this.

Sorry if this has been spoken about before, but DH will be flying in and out of Dubai frequently due to a new assignment. In order to beat the long queues at immigration/customs etc he would like to purchase an E-gate card so he can save lots of time at the airport. Where can he get one from please? How much? Is it usual for the company to get one for him?

Amelia, not set up for online banking yet. My bank is irregular and now wants to charge for all past statements. I think any bank has to send 'official' statements with their letter heading etc but am having such a lot of trouble.
